Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree No Summon Hardcore Git Gud Club

Bloobs

Al Pachinko, Konami President
3rd playthrough done. Did most the DLC with dragon hunter's great katana, pretty fun weapon but not my style. Ended up respecting to just finish last boss with greatsword.

Next is trying out Ancient Meteoric Orc Greatsword.

I'm starting to doubt my dex setup will ever get me past Radahn... I got phase 1 pretty much figured out but phase 2 is breaking my balls. Reason being when every attack is followed by a wave of magic there seems to be really no way to avoid damage unless dodging everything into him and staying glued to his legs. Not exactly making it easier, 'cause then you have seemingly impossible to dodge attacks like that areal drop 5x combo or double gravity slam...
I really have no idea how to react to those.... In gitgud I trust but this is a bit much.
I'm trying to find something on youtube but every "guide" I see is about what I'm not gonna be doing - using that 220 bleed build bonk, the broken perfume or some other cheap heavy shield method, I already did that on my first playthrough.

In the meantime I'm at Commander Gaius. Feels doable but the hitbox on the charge attack is utter BS. Was this fight designed to be played ranged on torrent?

I learned to beat Radahn by sticking to his feet. If you learn the combos from the first phase you can learn the ones from the second as they're the same but with holy AOE. Yeah a lot harder but it's the only way you'll get room to hit him or heal.

It'll be interesting to see how they nerf him, assuming they do. Lowering the intensity of holy light is the most obvious so you can actually see. After that maybe the hit boxes on the AOE attacks or the damage that he does. I hope they don't destroy the boss like base game Radahn - I was excited for that fight but it turned out really easy and I think it's because they nerfed him (I played Elden Ring first time early this year). It was even easier on the NG+ speedrun, just a few hits and he was gone - didn't even get to second phase.

Gaius I tried a few attempts just trying to dodge his attacks, not a single attack from me, just dodging first phase. Everything became easy except that charge, it's impossible to get it right consistently. They really need to fix that charge hitbox.

Sorry bros but I have sinned, for I ended up using summons on the Leda fight. Tried a few times on my own but it felt like bullshit, running away most of the time and poking a hit here and there, plus no way I was able to beat all that people (5) on my own. I love a fair challenge but that one didn't felt fair at all.

My cope is that at least I'll beat all the actual bosses solo. :goog_relieved:

Fuck this guy for real....

...after at least 50 attempts. How? That's how:

crucible_feather_talisman_talisman_elden_ring_wiki_guide_200px.png

... it is that or good luck practicing frame-perfect dodging. The only boss where the moveset feels simply unfair.

I've given up on the Consort, will try to clean up 3 remaining remembrance bosses. Let's go!

Honestly after raging against Gaius, I ended up really enjoying the fight. Outside of his broken hitbox charge attack, all the rest are fair move that can be dodge and punish.

Still, like every others boss in the DLC, he's hitting too hard.

I did same with NPC summon and mimic tear.....1 vs 5 NPC pvp fight is not my idea of fun.....This only time I did this and even on final boss I beat him twice completely solo.

Same. Once I had that charge down I really enjoyed him. Echoes of DTS in the base game.

Not sure what to think of this DLC, really. Most of it is excellent, but the story is quite poor and the bosses hit too hard. For the former point, I feel that a lot of the mystery and shadow of the base game has been removed. And for the latter, I believe you may as well be at RL1 with most of main bosses. i enjoy learning complicated attack patterns but the hit-heal-punish loop just isn't fun. It's all so tight. I'm at the final boss, having done the game solo, but I'm tapping out for a few weeks, I think. I'll let it settle and see what I think later. For now, my pure FTH run I had planned lies abandoned.

Day two on trying to solo the final boss.

I refuse to change my build.

I've been trading on patchesemporium and bumped my character from level 260 to 330 so now I my PB is getting him to 5% health and getting killed by Miquella second grab attack... I'm at VIT 70, wear the heaviest armor set that doesn't make me look like an idiot, got my protection talismans on and some of his areal attacks kill me at full health, while according to the wiki he has an additional 6k to his because it's NG++.

Parring done his attack cancel some of his annoying combos even during his second phase.

To me tactics worked much better just dodging through his combos.

I can't do it. I did try tho but I'm super inconsistent in parrying and just get wrecked but I respect the approach not exactly an easy one either.

Use ash of war Golden Parry or Carian Retaliation on your mid or small size shield, it would VASTLY improve your parry window.

I use golden parry and still can't do it consistently. But I just made it and earned my git gud club badge cheese free. Good luck guys and DODGE TO THE LEFT

Finally did it! Still shaking lol. Hope they never nerf it tho, fight is perfectly doable but it takes both a lot of practice, quick decision making and nerves of steel to not fucking up.

One of my favorites From bossfights, if not the best.

Oh and I had to use the custom potion with "reduce damage by a lot" and "taking damage heals you" to avoid getting wrecked by the big meteor attack. Still don't know how to avoid that one lol.

Edit: used my heavy longsword +25, the brass shield, the tree sentinel armor set and the following talismans: double headed turtle, +30% crimson tear healing, damage reduction and faith damage reduction.

Really appreciated the increased stamina regen during the fight.

I finished the game last week. I didn't use a single summon and I also completed the game without taking a single hit.

by watching it on YouTube

Overall I would say it took little effort and the developers should patch in a hard mode for real pros like me because it was far too easy.

Struggling against Messmer but I'm really enjoying the fight. Mostly no camera fuckery and all the attacks are fairly well telegraphed and somewhat intuitive to avoid.... I mean I'm still getting my ass kicked but it's because I'm fucking up and not because of some annoying and super tricky to avoid attacks.

Had him down to probably less than 10% health one time but I fucked up and got hit with the grab attack (rolled TOWARDS him, instead of back lol)

I watched let me solo her do final boss on YT thinking he would be doing his jar head katana rolling naked.

Nope. Even he went full made bitch heavy armor and poked.

I did see ornbal or whatever to level 1 no upgrades though poking away naked perfect dodging. Absolutely legendary.

People can play how they want, but I honestly think using a mimic tear along with a normal, non-cheesy build is more impressive than using a fingerprint shield + poking. Not sure what the fun is in that. 🤷‍♂️

My original statement on the final boss being shitty still stands.

It forces people to avoid their builds, and make some kind of sacrifice to win. Cheese builds, mimics , summons etc when players usually can just git gud to win.

I still think an overall nerf will come to him. Likely in how much damage he does scaled down a bit or something.

Do they need to? No. But I had to respec to a bitch bleed club to win and ignore my marika hammer build entirely lol. Had enough getting shit on to last me a lifetime.

Managed to beat the Final Boss of the DLC yesterday morning.
Made a couple of Chad moves here and there.

Nice one but I don’t get it. How are you getting so little damage? That double gravity pull attack in phase 2 is an instakill for me at almost full health

When does pulls you in get away from him full speed and in the last minute he uses gravity attack dodge roll away and in second phase you need to do this twice.

Nice job! Though I must know, how in the world did you get Bloodhound's Fang to be so good at guarding? It looked like you were taking barely any chip damage there.

Used a shield?

Just the normal block on the Greatsword. But only when he charged first, because as far as I could figure, it's impossible to dodge.
After that I just dodged and went around him, doing a mix of R1 and L2 with Giant Hunt.

Just killed Messmer accidentally with no hit in 48 seconds, lol. I’m not that good, but seems like I found the perfect start for the fight.

Playing as a no summon git gud advocate, so far for me
Rellana
was the hardest, followed by
Midra
, though
Messmer
seem to be potentially harder.

As stated before, the new Deflecting tear literally makes perfect guarding some sort of Sekiro parry, while also enhancing the guard counter attack.
I had to pull an EVO Moment 37 out of me after the meteors hit me going up (got hit that way twice like a bitch). It was perfect guard almost every slam or die.

WHAT you all got to be kidding me. I thought it just boosts counter attack damage for some reason, never used it. I need to test this

Description reads:

A crystal tear formed slowly over the ages, where the scattered sap of the Scadutree pools deep within the furnace golems. Can be mixed in the Flask of Wondrous Physick. The resulting concoction temporarily enhances spontaneous guard. Damage negation and guard poise will be heightened in the moment immediately after assuming a guarding stance. Successfully executing a spontaneous guard will also strengthen guard counters.

So yeah, basically Guard Parry. I absolutely melted Midra with this.

At least the second Divine Beast Dancing Lion and Romina were easier than previous bosses. Got them both on the third try.

Not that big of a deal at NG++ lvl 350 but still this is the first time I've done this without ash summons.

While I will defend Radahn as the test I ultimately really enjoyed figuring out, I stand by what I said many times before - Malenia fight is a low point of the game and just RNG against that one attack which will instakill most regular builds unless happening at a lucky distance and practiced to death. Not a fan.

But this concludes the ride.

Hope to see you all at whatever Miyazaki is coming up with next!

Will I lose my gigachad if I want to summon Igon for the Bayle fight? I want to experience the gloriousness of the VA.
although I did it without summoning Igon, I also agree with it being an exception. he still focuses aggro on you most of the time so I wouldn't worry too much about it

I had a no summons policy in base game but couldn't refrain from myself from summoning all those warriors againts main game Radahn fight. it was such an iconic and legendary fight, alongside with music, the way all the warriors charge towards their old general to honour him. although I didn't felt like they made radahn easy, since his AOE sweep attacks made quick work of them lol. they survived till his 50-60% hp and allowed me to save a couple flasks for second phase so that still counts for something

Yeah you are right, Igon basically just ran around and did nothing. No aggro, no damage, and apparently no HP boost either. That actually was exactly what I wanted. I thought he died partway through the fight because he got quiet at one point and I couldn't find him, but it turns out he was just dicking around in a corner while Bayle and I clashed. It was glorious.

Welp, rescinding my gigachad card now. Leda, Hornsent, Moore, and fucking Dryleaf Dane DS2 gank squad reprised. I came close to soloing them, but it just wasn't worth the time waiting for a good run where I killed the first two, and the last two didn't spam holy attacks. I ended up summoning Thollier and some other dude I don't recognize, the fight was over as quickly as it began. I don't think my DMGS int build helped things, because apparently in PVP it got nerfed pretty badly but I've been too lazy/stubborn to respec.

And now I know what everyone is talking about regarding the final boss. God damn he is tough, but learning his moveset has been fun so far. Managed to progress to phase 2 a couple times, and am getting absolutely lit up. Going to work at it a bunch more, but I am sure I'll probably use a spirit ash by the end. I loved the DLC but don't want to drag out the experience too much, and would prefer to move on to digesting all this lore.
