Elder Scrolls fans will have to wait, Bethesda has no current plans for ES5

I really really liked Oblivion, admittedly they may have fumled i bit with some things (animations, levelling system and so on), but I cant recall another fantasy game that had a world feeling as immersive as Oblivions. Nice simple high fantasy at its best.

Bethesda, just use the same engine as you used in Fallout 3 (just the Oblivion one with improvements i believe) and give me another Elder Scrolls game asap! It would be interesting if they used two or more countries with political tension between them (Im not that familiar with ES lore so I cant really give any examples here).

Yeah right. This is the Bethesda modus operandi at work. Deny it then the release it soon after. Watch for them to announce it in the next year, if not in Germany (:lol let me dream).

Yikes, I surely hope this is just typical PR nonsense. The Elder Scrolls is really the only RPG franchise I actively get excited about anymore.

Morrowind ranks as my favorite WRPG of all-time, while Oblivion (flawed as it was) still resides close to the top.

I hope we get a new TES game eventually.
I loved Oblivion

I liked fallout 3 but there seemed to be just so much less content than in Oblivion. That game was packed.

If any game developer/publisher tells me there won't be a sequel to a game that sold 5 million copies, the only reaction is to laugh.

Especially when there have already been four entries in said series.

Bethesda can take their time with TESV, or TESMMO, or whatever it may be, though. I am sure whatever they are working on at the moment will suffice, whether it be Fallout 4 or something else.

Whatever it is they're working on, I hope they finally get rid of gamebyro.

this. even with all the advancements they made with the F3 version of it, it's still painfully old and dated........ and ugly.

don't get me wrong, when i first played oblivion it was beautiful, but in 2009 both games look disgusting. fun, great, amazing games- yes. but trash graphics. sorry.

It's the animations that kill it.

Of course, no other games have such huge numbers of characters and environments that all need lip syncing animations and the like.

That said, they really need to take a cue from Mass Effect in terms of character animation. The whole "stare you in the face unblinking" while talking is just weird. ME does it much better, makes it seem much more natural.

I doubt animating conversations like mass effect in a game of this scale would be very cost effective.

Aye, and that's undoubtedly why the animations are much worse in Fallout 3 (though the lip syncing is a lot better than in Oblivion).

But just improving the few stock animations would really help.

What about the
vaporware:
Elder Scroll Travelers for PSP?

Then we'd need Devil May Cry PSP, as the trinity of big name
vaporware
PSP games would be complete!

Seriously though, I'd love Travelers.

hell i'd take an oblivion with ME-quality animations and NO conversation animations at all. just text and audio while they stare and smile at me. :lol

Hopefully it's just a mind trick. Will be glad to learn that TESV is in development. Got back to Oblivion yesterday to continue my Dark Brotherhood progression, and I'm all giddy; barely 40 hours in and haven't even touched Knights or Shivering Isles
or the main quest for that matter
.

Mediocre, yes. Disgusting? Absolutely not. At least not fallout 3. (it's been awhile since oblivion for me but fallout 3 is significantly improved) The animation may be bad, but the game has visual charm IMO.

There's nothing wrong with Gamebryo, it is more than capable of doing almost everything any other engine they could use could do, its just Bethesda's use of it that makes it look ugly.

Makes no sense - TES 5 would sell a shit load and Bethesda knows it. Hopefully they are just blowing smoke and it's a late 2010 title.
