Elder Scrolls fans will have to wait, Bethesda has no current plans for ES5

I don't want an MMO, or anything online.

I loved Oblivion, so the new Elder Scrolls can't come fast enough for me. I could get around to playing Morrowind in the mean time, I gues...

I mean can you nerds imagine a Bethesda built Starwars RPG? Would beat the snot out of KotoR.

Hell no.

I don't want to see the Starwars license in the hands of Bethesda, that would be HORRIBLE.

If we're lucky, Bethesda will stop making games altogether.
Sigh.

No problem Bethesda, I'm still trying to scratch the surface of Oblivion despite having put 120 hours in to it already, take your time cupcake.

As long as they're working on something I'll be happy. Fallout 3 was a nice change of pace after Morrowind and Oblivion. I'd like to see them try their hand at yet another universe before returning to Tamriel.

Whatever they do, I'll be there day one.

Unless it's a MMO.

so they will start elder scrolls 5 for the next generation of consoles which is ok i guess but more then 5 years away if you consider engine development etc

They'll likely pull a Bioware and say that Elder Scrolls Online is 5, 6, 7, and 8 because there is so much content.

I'll give both KOTOR and ES MMO's a chance, but it would be nice if they focused on the dedicated single player experience that built these franchises. Not everyone has to or can be WOW.

I hope he's lying and they have one in development. Don't let the success of Fallout 3 make you keep pumping out those games. Fallout 3, IMO, was good, but not great. I'm quite looking forward to playing a new Elder Scrolls.

I doubt they're working on another Fallout. Three games in quick succession would be overkill.

unfortunately there is nothing below the surface

So, can you recommend me some games that have more content under the hood? I already beat Gears of War 2 and I'm not a big fan of Rock Band or Guitar Hero so those may be exempt in your recommendation list.

Vanilla Oblivion was a pretty big dissapointment after Morrowind, but with a bucketload of mods that includes getting rid of the level scaling, it becomes a great game.

It is also still a great looking game when ini tweaked and with the Quarl texture pack.

Do not want an online game, if that's what he means with his comment.

I wouldn't mind another TES Adventures game, however. I wouldn't mind that at all.

If this means their next RPG does not have a fantasy theme I am all for it.

I am guessing it will be fantasy. They will want to dominate the two main themes of western RPGs: sci-fi (fallout) and fantasy (elder scrolls).

They would have to make so many changes to The Elder Scrolls to make it work in mutliplayer that I wonder why they would bother while they can still make money from single player games. Just seems like too much of a pointless risk.

So no ES5
No more fallout dlc
Fallout vegas is 3rd part developed

Wtf are they working on?
:lol Exactly.

I just read Todds comments as, they have nothing to talk about right now, which considering they just got done with Fallout 3 DLC isn't surprising.

What a waste of time then, and this coming from a Fallout 3 lover, but one of the few on gaf that absolutely loved Oblivion.

It is sad that we will have to wait along time for the next scrolls' adeventure. Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed Fallout 3 but I never really felt as connected and immersed as my own character as I did in Oblivion. Well one can wait I guess..

Loved every second of what I played of my 200+ hours in Oblivion. Most emersive game I have ever played. I loved exploring.

There's no current plans for ES5 coz they're busy adapting to id Tech 5's production pipeline, finally getting rid of gamebryo and that microstuttering crap. So it's gonna take a while but it'll be more than worth it. Believe.

Bethesda did the same "We have no plans" garbage right before they announced the expansions to Morrowind. What they really mean is "we have no plans we can talk about."

Apparently they've went a little crazy with the MMO domain name registration.

Oblivion has probably been my favorite game this generation to be honest. I have yet to give Fallout 3 a spin, waiting to be in the mood to play a post-apocalypse type game, which Rage is helping immensely.

Oh, bullshit.

And Nintendo has no plans for another Mario game, S-E has no plans for another Final Fantasy game and MS has no plans for another Halo game. There are always plans.

Wow.. worst idea ive in the last month or so. There are too many story elements in Star Wars for Bethesda to pull off correctly.. thats kind of a sad thought. What i think would work great from Bethesda is a cyberpunk rpg. Open world, hacking minigames, cyberspace worlds, scores of people devoid of any emotion, a handful of interesting characters like Mr. Johnsons.. too bad they dont have the Shadowrun license.

The MMORPG space it too crowded at the moment. Bethesda would be taking a huge risk bringing their marquee license into what is, for all intents and purposes, an entirely new genre.

Maybe that's what Howard is referring to with his "no plans for ES5 at the moment" quip. It's clever PR speak to hide the fact they're working on something related to ES, but it isn't necessarily ES5. I hate to admit it, but it's looking more and more likely that Bethesda is indeed working on an online ES game.

God damnit, I want ES5, not another charred corpse courtesy of Blizzard Entertainment.

I feel the same way brother, but if Bethesda thinks they can pull it off they're going to go for it. They want to provide a higher quality life for their families and themselves just like the rest of us.

I remember when I was playing Morrowind years ago, I thought that it would be awesome if they made a Star Wars licensed RPG. I'm not a fan of KOTOR though, not a fan at all. I much prefer the Bethesda style of RPG over the Bioware one.

That would be AWESOME if it were a real launch game. I believe Oblivion was supposed to be a PS3 launch game.
