I just bought a Mazda 3 GS 2005 full equip :D going from a toyota tercel 91, with chips of rust falling down the road as i go above 120km/h :lol I think its not a bad decision, i LOVED to drive it also, really surprising car for its price.

Anyway, now they've given me the option to shoot oil in it to prevent rust every year or install a little electronic box that supposedly do miracles, i have the PR papers in front of me and basicly what it does is send an electric shock in every metal parts of your car to get rid of electrons accumulated by the metal changing over time, gets rid of oxygen (oxydation) molecules which eventually turns to rust. So yea.. i dont know anything about that technology. Anti rust, wether its oil or some exotic method is pretty much REQUIRED in canada unless you dont mind seeing your brand new car go down the drain in the matter of 3 years.

Its 500$ cnd, guaranteed 15 years and covers reperation cost on the body if anything shows up. Does it every time you startup your engine so there's no yearly visit to the garage to shoot oil.

Anyone has this gadget installed? Thoughts?

CAT's electronic anti-corrosion system its called, CAT unit aswell, and CAT for Certified advanced technology.

why? Do you have a harsh environment, or lots of salt on the roads (canada/cold etc)?

Don't cars come with 5-6 year bodywork anti-corrosion guarantees? Surely Japanese imports should be made the same in Canada as Europe? Or are they made in the USA?

Just wondering if you use different manufacturing methods to other countries

Umm yeah, I'm interested as well considering the amount of rust my mazda 626 has picked up on certain parts of the body.

The big question is - how long are you planning on keeping the car?

I only keep my cars for 3 or 4 years (maybe 5), so rustproofing isn't even on my radar screen.

If you are thinking about holding onto it for 6 or more years though, rustproofing is something that you will have to address at some point...
