Digitakt + Digitone always looks like a cool combo, along with a synth to sequence and MIDI input for the Digitone to build out melodies. The older boxes I'm less sure about since the workflow isn't as polished.

This is an excellent review channel for all things related to music hardware. It's a bit heavy on the memes but the guy knows his shit

I love my Elektron gear, it really was a big shift in terms of the quality of music and speed at producing for me. I was using Reason for a long time, starting with v2.5 back in 03'-04'. It lasted me a good while but, there were years sometimes I went without ever opening a project file and I was feeling no direction with the amount of options sitting down at the computer. I decided to go all out on Elektron and it has renewed my love of music.

One thing they are great at in particular is capitalizing on a sudden surge of inspiration, I can turn on a machine and hash out my idea quickly. Also, the confines of the machine often help in coming up with new ideas.
