Here's another one for you. After 4 seasons as starting QB, Tom Brady was 57-16, including 6 playoff wins and 3 Super Bowl rings. His total for all 7 seasons is 99-31 including 11 playoff wins and those 3 Super Bowl rings

ok, guess brady isn't as bad as so many in this thread are arguing that he is. hmmm

I like you man, your an Eagles fan, and you appreciate the greatness that will come with Kevin Kolb. He's going going to be a stud. He had an awesome Lewin career projection, but I'm making myself sound like a nerd. Basically, he started a shit load of games, giving scouts enough tape to know if he is a piece of shit or not, while still posting an awesome passer rating / completion percentage.

I can't wait to see this guy under center. Especially under the tutelage of Andy Reid. With that said though, I'm perfectly fine with DMac as our QB for the next 2 years while Kolb learns the ropes.

Duce, I can't hate on you man since your account name here is from one of my favorite professional athletes ever, but you gotta chill out man. Your giving us Eagles fans a bad rap. Just give Eli some props.

allow me to clarify. I notice a pitifiul number of Eagles fans are like you and not like the much better fans cm3 and sorryaboutdresden. You are the typical asshole Eagles fan that is bitter and resentful, and they arent. The Eagles deserve better fans than the likes of you.

They couldn't do it because Cutler got knocked out of the game long enough for Joke Plummer to come in and throw a pick and then Darrent went down too and the Niners just picked on Foxworth the rest of the game. What that has to do with the current NFL though, I have no idea. Why the quotations around shitty though? The Niners are a shitty team, no quotations needed. Remember when they were supposed to contend for the division title or at least playoffs this year?

yeah, that sucked when plummer came in and threw the game-changing pick 6 to walt harris. oh wait, that wasn't plummer, that was cutler. it also sucked when alex smith completed the huge 3rd and long gainer to arnaz battle while foxworth was covering him. oh wait, that was champ bailey covering him.

Your absolutely right man, McNabb is definitely the best QB we've ever had, but the future is Kolb. Like it or not. Our organization isn't happy about paying players more than the worth, and in a year or two, McNabb won't be worth the money. It's just economics, and I'm perfectly fine with that, especially since I honestly believe Kolb will be very good.

That's true man, sorry, but I'm from Philly (suburbs at least), and we're the most provincial people in the world. Like I said yesterday, at least you had LSU... and you weren't heart broken by NFC championship losses to the Rams, Bucs, and the fucking Panthers. I'm seriously still haunted by vivid images of Ronde Barder and Ricky Manning Jr. picking off McNabb in those games.

oh but he does. Do you know why he does? Because he did it.
Do you know how offense scores points? a QB (that would be Eli) passes or hands the ball off to offensive players who then make a TD (or FG). Its pretty basic, but I guess you werent taught the importance of a QB to the equation.

nevermind the fact he didnt turn the ball over once the whole playoff run. thats VERY important (that pick in the superbowl wasnt his fault)

I agree with you that, at this point Eli is being overrated, but granted he just won a superbowl. I don't care if fucking Hellen Keller wins me a super bowl, I would be happy. Eli deserves the hype right now, but just know in your heart that when we play them next year Lito will pick him off and we'll once again be in the playoffs.

One neat thing I realized was that on the Giants side Eli Manning is from New Orleans, La, and on the Pats side, Kevin Faulk grew up in my current hometown Lafayette, La. So I felt kind of bad for Kevin, but hes playing for a team lead by the sorriest piece of shit coach Ive ever seen and a very arrogant QB who half earned the right to be but came up short at the worstp ossible moment this year. I actually feel bad for several players on the Pats team for having to be grouped with the likes of those arrogant cheaters. Wes Welker for example. Hes amazing and he deserves better.

Eli isnt so much being hyped (at least not by me) as he is being celebrated for toppling a dynasty. I dont htink anyone is calling him equal to the greatest QBs ever and hes still WAY too young and inexperienced for that, but what he accomplished here really cant be overrated. He was clutch at the exact moment he needed to be clutch and he carried his team to a victory under enormous odds against him, and massive hype for the Patriots to win. What he did was the classic underdog victory, and for that hes everybodys favorite QB at this moment. When the next season comes around, he will probably revert to his normal self, and make mistakes same as always, but He will be a bit wiser, a bit more careful, and NOBODY can take away what he did that night.

Well, at least not by you, but some people I know suddenly consider him one of the NFL's elite quarterbacks. I think he is good, I have for a while, but I really don't think he is better than Brady, Payton, Carson, Brees, McNabb when healty, or Favre (at least last season's Favre). He's definitely better than Rivers though, and most NFL QB's, just not in the elite group, but fuck if that matters, he just won a super bowl.

EDIT: fuck I don't know if he's better than McNabb or not, I want to believe McNabb is better in my heart, but fuck Eli just beat the team that destroyed my super bowl dreams.

I think in alot of ways the Eagles are like the Saints. both teams have GREAT offensive weapons, but defense I think is what lets our teams down. the Eagles definitely have am uch better defense than the Saints do but they still come up short I think. And Eagles need some more WR's and I do think Mcnabb has passed his prime. He was good, but his time is passing.
Saints got Drew Brees and its really turned their fortunes around. They still blew it in 2007 but you can see the talent that is there and that can be built upon. thats the sort of leadership and foundation the Eagles need to find and I know theyre going to. I think the team has alot of spirit and as I said before their fanbase has alot of assholes in it and its really dishearteneing because it puts the team in a bad light they dont deserve. But as you have seen, criticism only makes a team fight harder. The Eagles need to use that to their advantage.

Just because the Eagles undermine the entire NFC East by themselves doesn't mean you have to compensate by dogging on a Super Bowl MVP Quarterback for no good reason.

:lol

Cowboys - 5 Superbowl victories in 8 appearances
Giants - 3 Superbowl victories in 4 appearances
Redskins(!!) - 3 Superbowl victories in 5 appearances
Eagles - 0 Superbowl victories in 2 appearances

Note: I was actually rooting for the Eagles during their little run...would've been neat to see the entire division claiming Superbowl winners. NFC East 4 life bitch.

Duce really is fucking annoying though. :lol

It had to. It's not necessarily about people wanting to see a great story ruined (i.e. perfect season). People would love to see someone triumph over adversity and pull off a perfect season. Someone who was honest and sportsmanlike and had a bit of luck, etc etc.

But that's not the 2007 Patriots. The public wanted to see the Patriots pay for their arrogance and cheating. The results show it. No one except Bostonians feel bad for the Patriots. And I'm willing to bet, once Spygate fully unravels, there will be Bostonians who hate this current "dynasty*" for what went down.

And I laugh at anyone who feels bad for the Patriots' players who are "innocent" of cheating. Fuck that. They bought into Belichick's bullshit, they drank the Kool-Aid, and when all is said and done, I'm betting we'll see evidence of certain players (Brady!) being made aware of the info retrieved and where it came from.

You wanna motivate a team? Do it the way Gibbs did. Do it the way Coughlin did. Belichick's days are numbered, and when he's no longer a head coach the league will be better off for it.

Preach that shit...and you didn't even get into the druggies on the squad like HGHarrison, or the way people tried to justify the cheating all season long ("oh it doesn't matter, they're a great team anyway!"). Fuck the Pats all the way up their rancid asses.

And to expand on the ass kicking Vegas received...

Patriots not the only big losers
Giants made it a bad day for Las Vegas sports books
By Lonnie White, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
February 6, 2008
Actor Todd Thomas is a transplanted New Yorker living in Southern California and he seldom gambles.

But once Thomas found out that the Giants were double-digit underdogs to New England in this year's Super Bowl, he jumped at the chance to place his money on New York to win.

It turned out to be a great decision when the Giants upset the Patriots, 17-14, on Sunday.

"Most people were blinded by New England's quest for perfection and overlooked the pure athleticism of the Giants' defense, particularly up front," Thomas said. "With New York getting 4-1 [to win outright], I did not have any problem putting my support behind the Giants."

And so did many others. Although true figures are difficult to confirm, sports betting experts claim that nearly 80% of the sports books lost money on the game.

Jay Kornegay, director of the Las Vegas Hilton sports book, said that the Giants' victory topped the 1979 Super Bowl, which is known around Las Vegas as "Black Sunday."

"Vegas was hit hard but only $20 to 25 million was bet on the game," Kornegay said of the Steelers' 35-31 victory over Dallas in a game that had Pittsburgh favored between 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 points. "This was easily the worst Super Bowl ever for sports books."

Considering that Sunday's Super Bowl set a Nevada state record with a handle of more than $100 million, that's a lot of money won for people who bet on the Giants to win.

"I don't feel any sympathy for Vegas because it's not like they couldn't have seen the signs," Thomas said. "They still made the odds so strongly behind the Patriots even though they only beat New York, 38-35, at the end of the season. You could see that the Giants gained confidence from that game while New England did not seem to improve at all.

"I'm just glad that [oddsmakers] kept it that way because I won big and I know a lot of New York fans that did too."

The Giants may be this season's Super Bowl champions, but they are not favorites to repeat, according to futures lines set by oddsmakers.

At betEd.com, New England is the favorite at +400, followed by the San Diego Chargers at +600. Even Indianapolis (+1,300), Dallas (+1,600), Green Bay (+2,100), New Orleans, Pittsburgh and Jacksonville (+2,600) get better odds than New York, which is tied with Cincinnati and Philadelphia at +3,100.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-lines6feb06,1,1243963.story

:lol Vegas...anyone with half a brain knew the 12 point spread was ridiculous. The funniest part is it started at 14. :lol 6 points would've been a fair number...could've gotten action on both sides and thus walked away with half the chips regardless of the outcome, which is the whole point of setting a line. Instead they fucked up like Bellicheat. Looks good on 'em.

Uh... what huge 3rd and long gainer to Battle? Don't bother trying to tell me the Niners didn't just throw it Abdullah and Foxworth's way pretty much the entire 4th quarter and OT, you'd be wrong. The Broncos weren't shitty that year, they finished 9-7 with a rookie at QB. They just had a bad game because of penalties and injuries. Congrats, your team won a game 2 seasons ago. Doesn't really have any bearing on what we were talking about though. Doesn't make the Niners any less shitty today either. So I won't say anything else about it :D

NFC has one team that could beat the Pats and that's the Giants. But the AFC still has another elite team in the Colts and plenty of great teams to go around while the NFC has Green Bay and Dallas and then a bunch of meh. From top to botom they are far from equal imho.

There are always a couple of fans in any given season that make you hate a team you otherwise didn't mind or liked and make the other fans look bad. I was gonna ask what the next team was gonna be, but I guess we have our answer.

Bucs -> Eagles -> Seahawks -> Eagles -> Bears/Cowboys -> Eagles ...I think I see a pattern. I was gonna guess Pats, but guess all the pats bandwaggoners turned into Giants fans overnight. :p

"Super Bowl Win! Apply directly to Tyree's forehead!"

A little wordy though.

Anyone in Toronto listening to the live PC with Ralph Wilson and the Bills talking about playing in Toronto for the next few years?

Wilson sounds senile...just rambling and rambling as someone is whispering in his ear probably telling him to shut the fuck up:

"I won't lie. I don't know much about Canada. My last memories of it is "Canadian Club". Good stuff but I haven't indulged in that for awhile".

Oh Ralph...:lol

People have been saying "E-T" but I don't know about that.
TMQ says we should just call it "The Play" but that's already taken for the Stanford-Cal thing.
"The Catch" has been taken, plus that's only half the play.
"The Scramble" isn't really accurate since he ran around and threw it, plus it's only half the play.

So someone's gotta think of something. Bill Simmons should get his readers on this (they did, after all, come up with "Cincinattica" :lol ) if he can fight his way through the bitter tears.

NFC East=NFL's best

From an SI.com article:

"Consider that during a 14-year stretch beginning in 1982, the NFC East produced an astounding eight Super Bowl winners, with the Skins also losing one to the Raiders in '84. In three of those seasons a team from the division fell in the NFC Championship Game."

And from Wikipedia:

"NFC East teams have a combined 19 Super Bowl appearances and eleven wins, the highest marks of any division in the NFL. All 4 teams have won at least 3 NFL championships. Given the division member's histories and intense rivalries, many sports analysts and fans regard the NFC East as the toughest division in the NFL. One possible peak of glory for the division came in the early 1990's, when the division claimed four consecutive Super Bowl champions, as the Cowboys won two and the Giants and Redskins took one each."

NFC East is rising back to the top again....Redskins SB XLIII Champs! :D

Yep, 1947. Longest title drought in the league. The Cardinals have not had a home playoff game since then.

But we'll always have Jake Plummer's valiant wild-card upset of the Cowboys in 1998, our last playoff appearance and winning season.
