The only reason anyone is following his jet is because he keeps complaining about it. He tried to buy the kid out for like $5k a few years ago. The story was stagnant until Musk banned the account, the guy who made it, and every other account of his.
I don't hate Musk by any means but I think he whole ordeal is hilarious because its self-inflicted.
It doesn't track where he drives or goes. It tracks his plane, not him. Hell, he could let someone borrow his aircraft and there would still be tweets. If aircraft are not tracked, what is going to stop them from crashing into each other?
You're over thinking the whole thing. When I get on an airplane, my wife can follow the path the same as with Elon's jet. The difference is that if Elon took a commercial first class flight, no one would know which craft he was on. I specifically tell my wife which flight I am on in case something happens. If I didn't tell her or anyone, no one would have any idea.
Also if the idea of people tracking you scares you that much, I would recommend getting rid of your smartphone.
