You can be involved in politics without being a politician, for example if you support a specific candidate financially, make public statements supporting specific candidates or political parties in several countries (which all happen to be far-right coincidentally), offer money to people who vote a specific way, etc.
He is involved in politics whether you agree with his opinions or not.
