Embracer sells off Arc Games and Cryptic Studios

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Embracer has divested another two studios from its sprawling portfolio. Arc Games and Cryptic Studios have been purchased by a new entity, Project Golden Arc, which is lead by members of the Arc Games management team and funded by Hong Kong firm XD Inc.

Arc Games is the publisher of live service games Star Trek Online, Neverwinter, and the Remnant series, along with Torchlight and Hyper Light Breaker. Cryptic Studios was the developer behind Neverwinter and Star Trek Online. The proceeds of the sale amount to $30 million (SEK 287 million), the company said.

As part of the deal, Embracer retains publishing rights to the Remnant franchise, developed by Gunfire Games, and rights for MMO Fellowship, developed by Chief Rebel and currently in Early Access. The latter will be assigned to Coffee Stain, which is planned to be spun out of Embracer in December.

They should sell 4A games to Sony.

Do they even own them?

Edit.

Recent changes: In March 2024, Saber Interactive was sold by Embracer Group, but the option to purchase 4A Games was not exercised by the new owners, so 4A Games remains a direct subsidiary of Embracer Group.

Yeah they do but why would you want that's?

Hol'up Embracer has 4A Games??

Ohh through Saber............nah I think they are fine, Sony would just fuck them up.
Saber gave us Space Marine 2......Space Marine 3 coming soon......and they still managing their own engine......me thinks they are safe where they are.

Saber is big enough I dont think Embracer is gonna fuck it up........think.

Sony.......mmmmhhhhhh doubt.

Embracer though....keep divesting, get lean and hunt more money to keep these devs alive.

So the remaining parts of Embracer, including Warhorse (Kingdom Come Deliverance), will be renamed Fellowship Entertainment, and will focus on building the LOTR licence into a big brand alongside KCD, Darksiders, and Remnant.

I wonder what studios are going to be making Middle Earth games? I would imagine they would ask Warhorse because they already have the fundementals built, and because they seem like the best devs left at the company.
