That leaves Monster. Who've done nothing but Wii -> 3DS ports since Excitebike World Rally. Yes, that includes Pilotwings Resort, which was just a glorified Wii Sports Resort: Airplane port.
They've been CONSTANTLY rumored to be working on Diddy Kong Racing 2 for Wii U, and Retro has also been rumored to be helping out (makes sense since Monster Games is tiny).
Fire Emblem Radiance Collection. To hop on the FE hype train and milk it as much as possible with the smash representation, the FE Fates, the amiibos and #FE.
A new game?
Wasn't that Amiibo Mario Mini game only announced in Japan? It's probably that.
I bet it's a western game.
Tamaki for one has constantly gotten stuff on the western-end. I don't think he's really covered any developments from a Japanese team.
This means the game is by:
- Retro Studios
- NST
- Next Level Games
- Monster Games
If we're only considering 1st and 2nd party teams.
NST can be ruled out as they're extremely low-priority and this is not an eShop game.
Next Level Games is very busy with Federation Force, and especially after the utter disastrous reaction at E3, I think they're even busier trying to make sure it rocks our world. So too busy for a Wii U game right now.
Retro I feel if they're on a major new game (they are obviously), it'll be for NX, hopefully ASAP.

So unless this game is by a western dev not listed and hence would be a surprise western 3rd-party collab published by Nintendo, it has to be one of the above. And DKR is a franchise with fans obviously.
My two cents.
It's because we want the NX Platform to succeed. In fact, there'd probably be more clamoring for Pokémon Z to be an NX Platform launch title if it wasn't for Game Freak always being late to the party & the nature of the (likely) Pokémon Z game being a sequel to X & Y. Stuff like Pikmin 4 & the like would help with the launch of a new platform. Why? What's wrong with supporting a console until the end of its lifecycle?
NX isn't out for almost another year (or maybe longer) and people still want to play games on their WiiU.
Isn't Nintendo regulary being criticized for dropping support for their plattforms too soon? And Sony got praised for supporting their platforms with big titles for a long time.
it's a franchise that has fans
Well, that rules out F-Zero.
"Pokemon Z" just means "gen 6 game taking place in Kalos."

Mario Paint U!

Remember this? I predicted FE collection back then too. Or did this game end up being TPHD?
Metroid PicrossIt wouldn't be a main seller, I'd think.
Another 'oh, that's nice to have' kinda games. Probably one step above NSMB for most people.
Metroid Party for Wii U. Ridley's not too big to join in on the fun!
Oh god it's Punch-Out Puzzle Fighter
You could have a whole set of puzzles set upon a single Ridley Sprite.Metroid Picross

I mean, Retro's new game would probably be more launch window than Day 1. But if Pikmin 4 is as far along as Miyamoto claimed, it'd be best to save that for the NX Platform. Most of the big games that people expect won't be launch titles for the NX.
Especially if it comes out this year.
They'll have one or two tops.
People forget how Nintendo are with time tables.
There may be a bunch of "launch window" titles though, muhahahahaha.

Other than metroid there's nothing earth shattering Nintendo can announce, as far as I am concerned.
Ohyou.pngShit. I too would love an Advanced Wars game featuring 1080-degree snowboarding sections and some F-Zero style/speed combat. What a great idea!
Now hopefully the characters can also shout "BOOST POWER!" at every opportunity.
A yes, a remaster with a new world map and optional encounters for grinding, an altered class-based skill system and class change mechanic, a revamped support system with S supports allowing you to matchmake, and a load of new unlockable characters with mysterious backstories...

Teasing a game Miyamoto himself confirmed would be dumb.Pikmin 4. Sure, we've heard about it, but it's hardly "announced".

Yes join me in my cause for Mario strikersFuck. I didn't know I wanted that so much.
That and an Excite sequel.
Pikmin 4 gets me.
That game is suspicious as fuck that there might be a catch.
I hope it's not an Amiibo Festival game.
