It's fine, not every game needs to be beloved by every person who plays it. There were a small number of outlets in 2004 who didn't think it was that great. It is usually thought of as the peak of the traditional turn-based Paper Mario RPG games, before the series was turn upside down and watered-down and essentially ruined by 2010-era Nintendo upper management (It must be innovative, it must be unique, NPC characters can't look different, it can't have a strong story, "turn-based RPGs are boring", etc). BUT, that's a topic for another thread.
TTYD is normally elevated above Paper Mario 1 on N64 due to more post-game content, more overall challenge, more optional bosses, and overall even more creative and zany dialogue and antics, sense of grand scope and adventure. In particular, the Glitz Pit (Ch 3) and the final dungeon (behind the TTD) are the best parts of the game, with some fun moments to be had elsewhere, of course. If you didn't overly love the Glitz Pit and aren't feeling the game by Ch 4, if you're asking if the game magically transforms into something amazing that makes you unable to put it down, if it doesn't have it's hooks in you yet? No. It's fine not to like everything. Go play something that clicks with you.
I will also say, that 20+ years of hype, if you've never played it before, you are aiming to be let down. It's a game from 2004, warts and all. The Switch remake is a very, very faithful remake, that adds a bit of QoL here and there, but is basically just a complete visual makeover, not a remake in the vein of FFVII R.
For me and others, who had a GameCube and played it back in the day, it's aged well (mostly). Playing the game is sort of like coming home every year for Thanksgiving. It's that good.
