Emiru assaulted at TwitchCon

I disagree. I'm not getting shot or stabbed on behalf of some streamer, you have no idea who you're dealing with in such a situation, even more so if you are not trained to handle them. Even if you do manage to stop a perpetrator, you can actually get in legal trouble depending on how you go about it and I'm not dealing with that either. Unless it's family or a friend, I'm not doing shit, let the police handle it.
All true, and yet it doesn't stop many braver individuals from stepping in to help the victim. I'm glad those people exist

More power to them, endangering your life for a stranger is something I just don't have in me. If I find myself in such a situation it's possible my body will react before my brain does, but I probably wouldn't count on it.

And then the guy pulls a knife and stabs you. Like a said, you have no idea who you might be dealing with and I'm not endangering my life for some minor celebrity.
I guess it's different for some people when you have kids you stop seeing young people as just " someone else " and you start to view them as " someone's child " and are always ready to protect any child.

Which is why under no circumstances do I want your "diverse" schizo-paranoid and devoid of all human contact society infecting mine.

Depending on the jurisdiction this could be seen as Assault or Battery.
That isnt my opinion or some simp energy shit, its literally law thats over 100 years old....not something invented for modern audiences or whatever narratives you are trying to paint.

I think you are thinking assault as in physically harming someone, but thats not necessarily what Assault is, thats actually Battery, if a reasonable person has fear for their life it can be assault.
Emiru had no idea what this guy was gonna do, he is massive compared to her, any reasonable person in her position would be in fear for their life or at the very least bodily harm.

And people wonder why JK Rowling is so passionate about women having their own intimate spaces protected away from men. This is an event for the public and women still aren't safe from creeps.

she should sue twitch for making her do this and not providing adequate security
This right here would be the one that forces them to improve future events. They can decide if they want to save a a few grand on security or spend millions on potential lawsuit payouts.

Seriously I don't get why some men seem to think it's necessary for them to misuse other human beings at masturbation toys
Because a lot of people sell themselves as such?

It's a stupid cycle.. some twitch streams are border line only fans " give me money I'm sexy... " people who prey off viewers who do just sit there and masturbate to them. It's the whole point of how they make money.

Then those guys may end up in a AI thread on a forum making more and more pornographic gifs and images until their minds break because they will never have this fantasy that's been put before them and they obsess over it.🤷‍♂️

Itll be settled out of court if it ever even gets filed and Twitch will continue to do what they do.

Christina Grimmie was literally murdered the family filed but then dropped the suit like a year later....no one knows why, but I think we all know.
They got their payout and AEG doesnt have to admit to any wrongdoing and the public basically just moves on like nothing happened, AEGs wiki page doesnt even mention the murder and lack of security as one of AEGs controversies.

Can't think of anything worse than being a twitch streamer or part of the twitch community.

The world was not ready for the level of retardation that whole ecosystem was gonna bring to humanity

Well done to the security who pushed the guy away pretty quickly.
The security guy literally FAILED at the ONE TASK HE HAD - keep her safe. Few seconds is all it's needed to stab someone and we all know those streamers have a lot of creeps stalking them and paying a lot of money to get 'something'

Don't care. Never even heard of her before.

But the whole thing of this streamers and thots is very unhealthy. Their followers are deranged and they lead them on and these people snap.

C'est la vie

You don't care about streamers? Recent post history nothing but Twitch and X. LOL.

Having been involved in the Japanese idol scene for 10 years I can attest there are some scary weirdos, people who stalk their favorite members, who even follow them home, who give them teddy bears with GPS inside to track them, or who fap before meeting them in handshake events. AKB48 had a guy slash two members, Iriyama Anna and Kawaei Rina and a security member at a handshake event where Iriyama had her hand tendons cut trying to defend herself out of the top of my head. They had to put guards in front of the stage at their theater and enforce distance with those wanting to meet them. And I'm talking 2014 or so. 10 years later and people learn nothing.

By the way ANY interaction with the physical world can go wrong, if you don't put one foot in front of the other you can fall and hurt yourself. Wrap yourself in bubble wrap and stay indoors.
We are talking about something that happened in the USA, the law in the USA says that what happened is at minimum wrong and at most a crime.

If you don't agree with that... That's fine, but anything else is just your own "schizo-paranoid" problem since you seem to be incapable to understand that each place has their own set of rules and people must abide to them, if they are right or wrong, that's another debate.

I'm surprised these events don't have tighter security, specially given how many weirdos the whole streaming culture seems to attract.
And then just letting him walk away is weird too, basically setting the precedent there aren't any consequences for attempting this stuff.

Apparently she had her own bodyguard at a previous Twitchcon, but someone got too close and he put his hands on them (i.e., doing his job), so Twitch permabanned him from events.
Personal bodyguards are ultimately just other nobodies though. They can't go around assaulting or detaining other nobodies (at least not for something like 'following') any more than someone can assault her.

He whispered in her ear, "Don't you know who I am? My nickname is s1mpatheticslime38. I've been subscribed for 56 consecutive months. I made you laugh during your 1,473rd stream at 3:54 a.m.—I KNOW that meant you love me. PLEEEEASE!

I can't help but wonder what the reaction would have been if the situation were reversed. If it were a male streamer and a female fan did that to them.

I bet we wouldn't be talking about it now, in fact, we probably wouldn't even know about it.

My guess is that it would have been laughed off ,there would be no complaints, no video, no discussions about how the dude was "obligated" to do the meet and greet, etc...
There is an element of that but I assume that's because of the history of violence towards women and general size/strength difference between men and women.
Look at the size of him compared to her.

The off topic is full of threads bemoaning the rape of Europe while gaming seems to be full of people wanting a woman to be abused because they don't like her job.

Didn't realise there was such a divide on here.

Dno about "wanting" but yea people's indifference or the victim blaming is sad to see

Wow that's bad.. If twitch is going to do meet and greets like this then security needs to be way more over the top. It only takes a moment for something irreversible to happen.

Frankly given how terrible people can be, especially around female streamers like her, I'm not sure it's worth the risk of even hosting events like this.

You're telling people where she's going to be, she will be in that place for hours, and they are allowing fans to get face to face with her.

What could possibly go wrong..

I'm glad she's unharmed
