Wouldn't it be cool if xmen vs. sf was on the PSP?

I'm sure the current mamecps emulator could do it right? with a lil tweaking?

i AM determined to get it working!

but first off, I have never done anything to do with emulation or psp programming before... can anyone point me towards guides, tutorials etc..or ANYTHING to get me started?

:D

i'm DETERMINED DAMMIT!

oh... is it illegal to WRITE an emulator that runs on the PSP? if so, screw it.... hehehe

so.... where do i start? :D

If I could get Xmen vs Street Fighter, or Marvel vs Capcom 1/2 on my PSP no matter what sony offer's I'd never update my firmware... EVER!

The best way to start would be.... getting the source of an emulator that runs the game, then tweak it as much as possible to run on the PSP architecture

my thoughts exactly!

though my thoughts also involved naked chicks.

Well, I've found some tutorials... and all i had to do was use this awesome site called "google"! sugoi!!

now to read them :(

LESSON 01

you can download PSP Dev software, but it's HIGHLY illegal to own, but a lot of the great advancements in Emulators and homebrew came from it. Goodluck, keep us posted!!!!!!!

First.. lookup how big the ROM is for the game.
If its like 24MB, then i guess you can forget it.

Or you have to write some "rom-disk" emulation that uses the duo.

i read something about that regarding that type of emulation for the xbox, but that was ages ago... don't know if they've figured out a way to do that for xbox since it has a hdd.

i'm well aware of the fact that it won't all fit in memory, but there has GOT to be a way to do it... right? i'm sure my CS degree should come in handy for a problem like this! :D .... :(

ofcourse you can do it!. nothing is impossible. I guess it depends on how fast the write/read is to the Duo. If you can see it as a rom, i guess probably no.

I wrote a 6502 emu when i was 16years old in school, that was gonna be in my NES-emulation :)

Emulators are perfectly legal as long as you don't use information obtained illegaly to write them. Using emulators to run copyrighted software is also perfectly legal as long as you obtained the software legally: if you bought a game, you can run it on an emulator legally.
The only shaky issue is if, in order to run the game, you have to bypass a copy protection measure. This violates the DMCA, but in general copying software to a different media for compatibility purposes is considered fair use, and therefore is legal.

I think he may be right. I don't think there's enough ram for the psp to handle these graphicly intensive big roms In one shot. If so we would've seen kawax and neorage emulated on the psp along time ago. the program would have to be similar to the neocd emulator where the psp streams info off the duo a little at a time or as needed, and the format of the actual roms may have to change.

It is illegal to download any rom to run on an emulator, even if you own the game. You have to personally rip your own copy.

cooOOl... i'm just doing preliminary research at the moment on the feasibility of this thing... i'll probably just make a mahjong or big2 game on psp for my first project then move onto xvssf later on...
