What's even the point of your "comment"?Who?
X post with zero information in an OP with zero information. Cool.
Channelling your inner box_man there I see.Tarkov hasn't even hit it that big.
I'd argue it's a sub-genre that's yet to have its "Fortnite" moment.
Pretty hard to be a fan of something you have zero experience of.Never played it, not a fan.
Everything needs to be a f***ing – what are they called – extraction shooter.
It would probably be too scary for you anywayNever played it, not a fan.

Dave Oshry seems to be specializing in making retro inspired boomer shooters.Because . . .
No he isn't. None of those games are related to New Blood.Dave Oshry is credited on System Shock, Turbo: Overkill, and Selaco among others.
Oh, I can explain it to you! You might read it like this:What's even the point of your "comment"?

You could easily find out yourself instead of making the "who" comment.Oh, I can explain it to you! You might read it like this:
"Who is this man?"
I watched a minute or two of the podcast in question. He doesn't strike me as a John Carmack or Tim Sweeney type. He's much more rage baiter / Cliff Blazinski type. Emotionally driven - at least how he presents. He is complaining about "trend chasing". Rightfully. But how is that the fault of the game which is being chased? Thats completely retarded thinking.![]()
Same, its a great game. And that's why you see the likes of Activison and Bungie having a crack at making a more accessible version. Somebody gets it right and it does have the potential to be absolutely huge.Nah I actually put a decent amount of time in to Tarkov a couple of years ago, it's just not anywhere near accessible enough for it to go mainstream in the same way that Fortnite and COD have.
Personally I don't have a problem with it, the game is great for what it is, but I can see why the bean counters at these publishers would.

Yeah, as "special thanks" which basically means absolutely nothing. Only direct participation i've seen was voicing some mob in System Shock.Check his credits on Moby Games.
Not saying that game is Marathon btw.
PUBG was BR's Fortnite moment, lol.Tarkov hasn't even hit it that big.
I'd argue it's a sub-genre that's yet to have its "Fortnite" moment.
It might be big but it'll be nothing like Tarkov.Unfortunately, based on what we've seen so far it's highly unlikely that it will be.

Why is it the 'next big thing' when no one i know wants to play it?
Like I have no doubt it's got it's fans, but I don't think it is the next big thing
Extraction shooter isn't that new or popular a genre. Companies are tricked into thinking it is blue ocean when it is actually a stagnant pond.
Devs are always looking for the next big thing and copying has always been a thing. I don't need to tell you how many rad animals with an attitude platformers came out on Genesis after Sonic.Extraction shooter, always felt to me like a forced genre though, pretty much everyone i know irl has 0 interest in the genre. Who exactly are they making these games for? Just other people in the industry? Why is it the 'next big thing' when no one i know wants to play it?
Like I have no doubt it's got it's fans, but I don't think it is the next big thing, and I think at some level, devs are starting to see that now too. I'd say irreparable is a huge overstatement, but it's definitely caused some damage to some of these trends chasing devs who undoubtedly wasted dev time on prototyping it before realizing it wasn't going to work for them.
