Eurogamer: Corrinne Yu (343i) joins Naughty Dog

I just searched all of them, and there's not one notable name.

Although, I think likely your point was it's not as if they've stopped hiring - it's just difficult to deny the guy they've lost a 'star programmer' to paraphrase.

She's making headlines for a reason.
They worked on huge franchises, often at high positions of respected companies. Let's not do this whole "they are lesser" because they are not well know in the gaming public. Yet, within the industry they are very notable.

Heck, even the new Creative Director for 343 was behind the reboot of Tomb Raider, respected Lucasarts games like Republic Commando and Jedi Starfighter. People even made a huge deal out of when Lucasarts hired him back from Crystal Dynamics.

I guess I'm biased because Tomb Raider reboot was a soulless pos but this doesn't sound good...at all IMO. I really really hope that this guy proves me wrong. :(

Did I say 'they are lesser'? No.

I said they aren't notable names. And I am NOT arguing that losing Yu is massively impactful for 343 either - because it's borderline pointless to quantify one person's contribution in a 300 person team. I am sure Halo 5 will still be good.

I was saying they lost a big name there - it's a boon to Naughty Dog more than anything. It's undeniable. There was no subtext, and nothing to be inferred.

Yeah, tomb raider reboot felt a bit too much corporate mandate for uncharted clone + unnecessary rpg system for me. That said, I think I read somewhere that the original pitch for tombraider is more survival game in open world island, and the enemies had more horror element to it. There's even a couple concept artwork released somewhere. That one actually looks very interesting to me

Which wasn't my point of my post about those hires, but was still being compared to Corrinne Yu leaving. It was intended to prove that the sinking ship analogy isn't exactly true, because people leave and join all the time ― it is how it is in the industry.

He was also Creative Director for the Battlefront 3 (smaller scale) test “First Assault”. There were also two other projects planned if First Assault was successful, both were focused on large scale battles with vehicles.

Are you the real theOddOne? Like from TSM?

To be fair I haven't played a Battlefront game before and the large scale with vehicles bit sounds promising I guess, hopefully Halo 5 will go back to a Halo 3-like sandbox...I want big ass levels and epic battles a la double scarab fight again. :(

The first unveiling/info from Tomb Raider was indeed very interesting so as you said maybe that was his vision at the start of the project and then things start changing for the worst with pressure from above.

I know, so I don't know why we're at odds. I acknowledged what I thought your point was (and I was right), but said that the guy you quoted initially isn't wrong in saying she's a 'star', as it were.

I never said the place was going down the pan, and I most certainly don't believe that.

I know this super ass necro but not really that news worthy, she left naught dog now @ amazon.

I really hope this (plus the Cryengine stuff) is indication that Amazon is working on something more than Android type f2p games. (ie: better hardware coming from them)
