Year after year after year... the second place is my personal winner it seems.

edit: ok streak ended, I didn't like Austria's entry, but I'm glad Israel didn't win lol

UK did worse than last year and that one was dogshit.

Austria sucks but it's better than the yearly dubious phone votes for Israel. They'd get the 12 points from Iran.

Only good songs I heard were in those short performances from the '80s near the end.

I saw an actual paid YT ad for Israel's entry this morning, begging to vote for them. Nothing against them, but that's just sad. Austria's song sucks ass too.

Dubious? No.

I think it's a protest vote for Europeans who hate whats going on in their streets.

Glad we came in second. But Australia and last year's song are too similar.

Israel got last or almost last twice in the last years but yeah, whatever fits your asinine narrative.

If the judges had any balls Israel would've taken it, but I understand them all voting en masse for theremin voice because it's so "artsy".

I was wondering if the production team had some influence perhaps so they could push the vote away from them possibly going to Israel next year, but the UK Jury members all seem like very good picks after doing a bit of a wiki on them, producers, singer, choreographer etc.

The spanish broadcasters definitely showed bias and EBU threaten to fine them if it happened again:

They also got 0 points from the spanish judges, but the spanish public gave them the full 12; so yeah no doubt in my mind plenty of spineless judges moving away from giving them any meaningful amount of points, heck 22 gave them zero which is just crazy. Supreme disconnect between the public and judge vote.

Oida, seriously? At first I didn't even know whether JJ is male or female. Why is it always some weirdos winning for Austria?

Also, a country full of antisemites winning over Israel, if that ain't political motivated I don't know what is.

I think all in all even though I didn't rate them very high, Germany might surprisingly have the only song this year I'd actually put on a playlist and listen to.

Edit:

I just found out Germany has like 5 different version of the song, I wonder if they would've scored more points with the more "serious" version, or if it's too low energy wise.

I'm happy that Austria won. I expected Sweden, but the televote really came out in favor of Israel, sapping votes from everyone else. Israel's song wasn't even that good.

I hope the EBU wises up, otherwise they will end up with an Israel winner and they'll lose a lot of their core fanbase.

Lmao"wises up"? Vox populi vox dei. Stop sending trash artists like whoever represented Ireland last year and maybe it will change.

I couldn't watch all of it, but it seemed to me like most Eurovision shows. It never really feels fair or rewarding the "true best song", ant that might be part of the charm.
I didn't really care about Austria, it sounded technically solid but not very pleasant to listen to.
I couldn't catch Israel live, but in the recaps it sounded actually ok.
Sweden was apparently the favorite, there were some catchy parts but I really couldn't see the appeal, except for being Eurovision-silly. Same for Estonia I guess.
Didn't like France the first time I heard it, but warmed up to it. Maybe not a contender for first place, but fair to be top 10. Somewhat similar to Switzerland which I liked too, maybe they stole some wind from each other.
Votes were harsh against Iceland and UK, the songs were actually fine to listen to.

Haha, core fanbase? you mean the gays who voted Israel to the top?

UK was robbed by people with no taste.

I'm not even kidding, that song was good. A lot of Queen in there.
Nah I disagree, it was pretty awful. No where near as bad as last year's entry, but it was bad.

Zero audience votes was kinda cruel though.

Israel organized an extensive social media campaign together with ads to try to get people to vote for them. The power of advertising and outreach at play, the resulting point distribution is far from natural and organic - obviously people would not really vote for this song with such a skew on its merits alone.

They'd probably somehow receive 12 points from Palestine too if they were eligible for a televote, by having Mossad goons make people vote at gunpoint if nothing else.

We get it, you don't like Jews or Israel

Stop shitting up a meme thread about terrible music

Cheers

Ah, damn Jews using advertising to get votes. What will they think of next?!

I'm sorry you don't like being pointed out that the song was not very good, and that the only reason it won the audience vote was an aggressive social media/ad campaign to buy the votes!

Maybe you'd feel better about it if you'd try to deflect by saying I'm an anti-semitist or something? You could try that! Oh wait, you already did. Hmm, well, I'm sure you can come up with something else that's equally witty.
