Yeah, i used to think movie tickets in Japan were crazy expensive, but now movie tickets in Australia routinely cost $18-24AUD unless you buy it on special. Multiply that by 1.05 or so to get USD.

In Nagasaki theaters, if you go on the first of the month it's 1,200 yen. Any other time is 1,800. =(

Dat Rei smile. I think I prefer the NGE version of this scene.

I've been ripping my Platinum Collection (remastered set) and thought I'd share. NGE also looks grimey as hell, but way better than the original version (not remastered).

I hear it's very divisive because of how much it differs from the original series. Last year Maya's voice actress stated in Japan that it was going to be very grim and it would split the fanbase, and apparently her words came true.

The little I've heard still sounds like Eva to me. Sure, the plot is different, but thematically it seems like a different iteration of the same core ideas.

Hiding powerlevels is important. I only wear the few nerdery-revealing items of clothing I own when I'm going somewhere that my nerdery will be self-evident, like a screening of an anime film. Even then, I like the design to be something that doesn't immediately scream 'turbonerd' to the uninitiated. The Utena rose is a good one. The Penguindrum emblem would also work.
