They've never had a simultaneous international release, why did you expect otherwise.

simultaneous, no, but with stuff like Madoka getting theatrical releases in theatres here 13 days after premiere in Japan, you'd think Funi would jump on something as big as Eva and get it out here ASAP, even in a limited run theatrical showing.
In this day in age, there's no reason it should take almost a year for us to get it here.

Eva is a really expensive license (which is why Funi has to buy them one at a time) and I'm sure Khara wants to get the most out of the Japanese runs before letting them go abroad. I don't think Funi is the reason for the holdups.

They have to buy them one at a time? Ouch. Guess that's why there's so many versions of the series DVDs out there.

i hope they at least have a new trailer for the next eva, or just polish the trailer they showed at the theatre. It was weird, and I think a lot of people will hate it here.

Hopefully that just means that everyone at Khara is busy working on Final and they don't have any staff to spare on 3.33. I'm still hoping for a Q4 2013 or Q1 2014 release.

yes, early bluray release could mean that we are going to get the next one sooner than we expected(which was like 2016)

I haven't purchased any foreign blu-rays as of yet, so I'm not well-versed here, but are the HK blu-rays region free?

blu-rays have 3 different regions:A,B and C.

HK is region A. So is Japan and US. so it really depends on which region your player and discs are.

So if you have US PS3 or blu-ray player, you will be able to play Japanese and HK blu-ray movies

I don't think anyone was seriously expecting it in 2016. Last year, they announced a 2013 date for it, but they removed that date from the official site when they changed the name of Final. 2014 is probably a pretty realistic estimate of when it'll be released in theaters.

Excellent. And 3.33 will have english subs, yes? Because I don't think I can wait until Funimation decides to get their act together and put this out.

The Japanese version won't, but the Hong Kong version MIGHT. The Hong Kong release of 2.22 had English subs. I don't know if they were any good or not. I don't think anyone on GAF imported it.

Alright, wait and see, then. I really don't want to have to wait too long. That trailer at the end of 2.22 was downright boner-inducing.

A lot of us did, actually. It came out about 8 months before Funimation released their Blu-ray version. I still have my copy. The subtitle script is totally fine, it's what GAINAX used at international screenings prior to Funimation getting the license. However, Kaji's English dialogue isn't subtitled and pretty much an absolute mess to understand. :)

pre-ordered first print, too. includes another copy of the soundtrack as a bonus.

both HK releases of 1.11 and 2.22 had english subs. i think they were fine...never actually got the US release after picking up the JP and HK ones.

Own every copy of the movies that have been released so far including the Japanese special editions with the film cells, can't wait to get 3.33! I've been listening to the soundtrack since it was available, phenomenal stuff. Love Evangelion so much so that the thought of watching 3.33 is making me cry tears of joy. Love you Anno.

Goddamn. I can't believe the BD/DVD release is just 5 months after the theatrical release. Wtf is going on. There isn't even a theatrical date here in Singapore yet. I watched the first two movies in the cinema so it would be really weird if they didn't release the third one here too. Wtf is going on??? :(

How many hundreds dollars will the blu ray be?

It's around $61.83 not including shipping which is an extra 700 yen for me (UK). Ordered it since I have first press special editions of 1.11 and 2.22 as well, even though they have no English subs rofl. Being a die hard Eva fan is expensive stuff.

Apart from the soundtrack I've been on a blackout, can't wait!

yea make sure you stay away from any spoilers until you watch it.

Don't be like me and read all the spoilers, watch all the clips on the web.

I regret doing that, since I would have had a lot better experience when I actually watched it in the theater if I didn't know anything beforehand..

yeah, i managed to avoid spoilers (aside from trailers) so i didn't have any expectations before i saw it. was pretty surprised by the negative reactions online from people that were mostly basing opinions on summaries and/or shaky cam rips. the film wasn't quite what i was expecting...but then that's kinda what you get from anno. :p

Japanese version? Ordered from where? includes english subs?

japanese version, no english subs. i got mine from cdjapan.co.jp

Wow, much earlier than expected! Wonder if this means they're still shooting for a late 2013 release for Final
lol :(

A little disappointed though that, unlike 1.11 and 2.22, there won't be any new scenes added to the movie.

I don't see any info about runtime or content on that page at all yet?

Pre-ordered the first pressing. I'm ready!

It better have the snippet of film frames like 1.01 and 2.22 had! I'm totally ready for this!

how long after the japan BD release can we expect a decent fansub version to DL?

I remember a fansub being available almost immediately after the japanese bd release of 2.22.

Fan sub was available pretty quick due to much of it being translated from the cam/audio. They pretty much just had to correct some things, add in subtitles for the new scenes and redo the timing. Since there's audio of the entire movie that's being/been translated already, I'd imagine it'll be similar this time. Especially if there's no new footage.

Yup, I've been waiting a LONG time for the rebuild series, so to spoil it now would be disappointing, especially since its bloody Evangelion we are talking about, its always full of surprises and amazing visuals and music that needs to be seen at the cinema or Blu Ray in order to be fully appreciated. If you get spoilt its not a big deal since eva is a visual and audio experience that holds up even if you know the story/plot before hand, since seeing it is a whole different experience. Sorry if I'm not making any sense :s

Speaking of which, 2.22 was shown in the cinema not too far from me, at the Leeds International Film Festival, hopefully 3.33 is also shown, since there is no chance in hell 3.33 will be shown at a regular cinema here.
