Everwild Cancelled

Yep. Very likely.

Most of ABK will be gutted and shifted to COD factory. They have already canceled Blizzard's new IP in the last layoff.

Other new IPs will get similar treatment, as Xbox becomes more like Ubisoft that only relies on milking big IPs: Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, etc.
ABK was gutted and shifted to COD factory years ago.

Remember when Phil said that now they can do Spyro or whatever he was lying.

Jesus Xbox, just let Rare be independently owned before you ultimately shut them down. This company is a joke & has completely lost their identity.

It was going to be two extremes, cancelled at some point or re-revealed to be released in a matter of months

Just putting this out there again.

I played the demo, it was honestly very fun despite some framerate issues.
I'mma be real. He was premature with this.

Since then he has attacked Laura Fryer and went into full defense mode. Then this happened. Oh Jez.
Sad Doctor Who GIF

That said, when researching my post here I did find this:

So looking back at that thread I kinda believe Jez now on one thing. The nextbox will be a PC with BC thru whatever method but be called a console. For years, cheapass laptops have been sold with "Windows S mode" which is basically windows for dummies. It allows you to download "apps" if I must call programs apps, only thru the windows store. Most cheapskates like myself will buy these laptops and take them out of s mode manually which can be an ordeal or can be very easy depending on the brand and specific sku. There is a lot to unpack and these layoffs are just the latest thing. I very much think Laura Fryer will end up being correct. Xbox hardware isn't dead but it is dying and honestly, MGS isn't doing that well either. I'm afraid consolidation won't help. The brain drain is real. We have very low expectations and they are barely meeting them. Pointing to "but playstation" doesn't fix what is wrong here. Specifically not necessarily in the quality of their software but rather how it is marketed and sold. This cannot be the meta for making money on videogames or this industry won't survive. Rather MS has a bad plan.

Not even taking the piss here, this was something I was mildly interested in. But it was mainly because of the strange deer.
The game never even existed. Announced with a concept teaser before there was any product at all. Made for a nice show in 2019 but ultimately pointless, in hindsight.

Well this comes as no surprise. When did we last see this...like 2020? Feels about that long. Was never really interested but sorry for those who were.

Microsoft killed my Rare!

Thats why I will never buy an Xbox Console anymore.

More like Rare killed Rare. They're not the same studio they once where. Most of the people who made the old games are long gone.

Those studios that either hasn't put hits or are on bad spots are sure to be chopped next. Not surprised at all.
Rare would have faired better sticking with Nintendo, being bought by Microsoft was their biggest mistake of all time.

They were trying to make an action/adventure game with no combat. I feel like they got stuck on that idea and couldn't figure out how to make that fun. Should have just pivoted to a traditional action/adventure game and finished it. I really liked it's aesthetic but the premise always sounded stupid to me.

Damn. That Activision acquisition will haunt Microsoft until the eternity.

The A.I war is probably costing a loads of money from Microsoft and is a war they don't want to be behind of the competition, they just forgot Phil Spencer is a kid with a gun.

Can't believe how developments can go on for 5 to 10 years without releasing anything in the end. You could work in the industry and spend your entire life getting paid but never releasing anything. Just shows how much money these companies have and how they don't give a fuck.

Forgot to mention Microsoft buying RARE was one of the most unfair acquisitions ever. Nintendo should got and put in good use all those years.

Xbox fanboys will make us, poor peasants, understand that this is also a good thing
Not an Xbox fanboy, but it has been 7 years since their last game and Rare have nothing to show for it. It was in development for years when it came out that they were still figuring out core gameplay loops. Then rebooted. And then years went by without anything to show for it. I would've cancelled this project much earlier, tbh.

This game's pitch to players was 'we don't even know what this is, and it will be a long time before it's ready, but look forward to it anyway, or something'

Probably for the best.

Sucks but it doesn't feel like that big of a loss since we never got to see the actual game aside from some "in engine" teasers.
They are lucky Sea of Thieves still seems to be doing well I guess.

It must kinda suck for the more passionate people in these companies. Imagine working in a creative field you love and after 10 years you have literally nothing to show.

I hate these big companies so much. They buy smaller companies, with talented and visionary people, for profit of course, and they keep ruining them, because the management doesn't understand gaming. They just keep doing it! Over and over.
So many amazing game series were destroyed by these bean counters.

If Microsoft bought Nintendo 15 years ago there would be no Mario, Zelda or Metroid anymore. It would all be gone.
