Extraction 2 is one of the best action movies I have seen in a long while

That was fucking amazing. Its the best action movie I've seen since The Raid 2. Shits all over John Wick for me.

That one-shot scene was simply TOP TIER. Wow. WOW.

Watch it on a big OLED and pump up the bass/volume.

They literally made the Uncharted 2 train set piece into a one-shot action sequence. Fan fucking tastic.

You see how pleased I am with movies? Im not just some grumpy fuck.
I gotta watch it now. Also that other new Netflix movie with Ana De Armas has a car/bus chase that looks eerily similar to Uncharted 2 combined with Uncharted 3.

Seems like someone over there likes Uncharted.

That movie was better than this one, IMO.
Bullet Train is still the best 2020’s action movie though. This movie could have been shorter, and I hate the annoying kid storyline in anything, immediate two points off.

Most of the plot uses his decisions as the impetus, and he’s awful and unlikeable.

It's cool, but the first one is way better.
I watched both movies back to back yesterday because of this thread.
The train sequence in the second movie was crazy ridiculous & over the top. Worthy if not better than any James Bond or Mission: Impossible scenario.

But I did enjoy the first one better, especially when he beats the shit out of those children soldiers, swatting them like flies.
What did he call them, "The Goonies from hell"? 😄

I also like how the violence is brutal & ugly, none of that choreographed "ballet" stuff.

Never seen the movie but everyone is talking about it. Suppose I better watch it and see what the deal is.

Bullet Train was my best surprise movie of that year. Such a fun ride and a total viewing pleasure.
Goddammit I wanna watch it again!

It's not his fault, and I feel bad for saying this, but could they have casted a more unlikeable looking kid to play the son

Set pieces were surprisingly great but the story had the emotional weight of a dry sponge and was a low-tier effort. I would have given the movie a 6 but goddamn it gets an additional 2 points for Golshifteh Farahani.

Did anyone else watch the trailer and go "WTF" when Chris Hemsworth hides behind a ladder when that helicopter was shooting at him? How does that scene get past one person, let alone an entire film production?

Curious about that moment too. Someone must have given up for that to make it into the final cut.

It was pretty fun but definitely not as fun as the first one mainly because the script was shit. At this point it seems that the default state of Netflix stuff is to be generic and soulless and even if something deviates from that recipe it eventually assimilates. I don't agree with some posters here though, Hemsworth is the best thing about the movie, the dude seems very willing to participate in stunts and his acting is pretty fucking good for an action star. The director is great too, I just wish he was given a better script and maybe bigger CGI budget.

Extraction 2 was super cool!
I really loved how the fast action sequences are done like a "one take shot". (similar to the first one, but longer in the second one)

Was alright. Nothing to write home about. Hamsworth's character has no charm or esprit to carry all this.

Levan was sadly underused and killed by a 50kg women in close quarter combat. :/

I liked it but I have a few issues.
I thought they blew their load too fast on the long first action sequence. While very impressive should have been reserved for the end more or less, nothing was as impressive later on. It went on a tad too long as well. Shave a chunk off the prison yard scene and we're good.

The story is completely serious and dramatic in line with an 90s thriller but the action is over the top and sometimes funny and It doesn't gel well for me overall and didn't gel with my father who normally likes action movies like this. It's a tiring movie to watch overall. It does try to pace things but doesn't entirely succeed.

Sometimes less is more for the action. The story beats were very well done for what it was trying to do which is usually something these movies mess up but the action feels like it has constantly something to prove but it really doesn't. It's already doing something different from the marvel movies and is ushering back in action movies to cinemas.

I think maybe these movies need to get a bit more grounded so everyone can enjoy them.. not just action movie fans. It can make the difference between a John Claude van damme movie or a die hard.

From what remember the first movie was better because the story was much tighter and cohesive. Plus I think more of the film was filmed without "cutting" so the action sequences were better.

The prison fight in the new one was hilarious though. The ending sucked my ass.

Finally got around to watching this. It's far better than I was expecting. Better than John Wick 2 for sure.

Seems like this director is the next Chad Stahelski. Sam Hargrave was also a stuntman and is now moving into directing in the same way. The length of the action scenes is pretty incredible. There's maybe 10 min of downtime in the entire 2 hours. I was pretty impressed. It's not a perfect movie; has a few cheesy scenes and the story is virtually non-existent, but this is a huge win for Netflix.

From the moment the helicopter shows up and fires into the building trying to kill everyone and anyone inside, you'd think anyone in that situation would very quickly come to the realization that they don't care about the lives of your mother, your sister, or YOU.

After that point, it all seemed kind of stupid. Some fun action scenes, but the first movie was a lot better.
