F.E.A.R. Multiplayer Beta (Fileplanet)

In order to play the game at the recommended resolution, detail and performance
levels, your computer should meet or exceed the following specifications:

• US version of Windows(R) XP with the latest service pack installed
• DirectX(R) 9.0c (Included) or higher
• Pentium(R) 4 3.0 GHz or equivalent
• 2GB of RAM
• 256MB DirectX(R) 9.0 video card with pixel shader 2.0 support

:lol

So 1gig of RAM isn't enough? Now we need 2 gig. Funny how the Xbox can do Doom 3 with only 64MB and a 700mhz processor. Lazy arse slack programmers.

Funny how blindmans like you can't see the difference between a low-resolution crap port and F.E.A.R.

Oh well, I'm guessing you gave up PC gaming a long time ago.

I signed up for a key yesterday and they were exhausted...Do I have to sign up again when they are giving them out?

And is anyone else just receiving a screen to buy FilePlanet for a friend when they click the link>?

I'm turning the computer off. All I can say is this: Filefront sucks even more than parent company IGN. What a piece of crap. I'm glad I had a 10-day free trial and only wasted time waiting for this crap to appear.

You subscribed to FP and did not even get the damn key? Motherfuckers.

I'm a longtime FilePlanet subscriber as well and did not get a single key or e-mail regarding the F.E.A.R. beta...

What did you have? A f*cking PC from the future?! Shogo ran terrible when it was first released. Poor framerates, tons of HDD access, long ass load times, etc...

The game was a technical mess in every way. To suggest it ran well when it was released is nearly a lie. I played the game on a K6-233 and a P2-350 (brand new that year) and it ran poorly in both cases. A 350 MHz CPU was damn near the very best possible CPU money could buy at that time and it still ran poorly at times. As for video cards, I initially played it on a Voodoo 2 SLI setup and later that year a TNT.

Like I said, you must have owned a PC from the future 'cuz there is no way it ran "like a dream" back then. That is, unless, you had very low standards when it came to defining "like a dream". :P

i had a k6-233@266 with a voodoo2 sli i believe. it ran fucking awesome under glide.

hell i remeber back when everyone would completly diss nolf just because it would run like shit on so many pc's, nearly everyone would talk positivley on how well shogo ran and asked what the hell happened to the lithtech engine.

Programmers? Play ANY Monolith game and your computer will be in pain.

They all require ultimately more RAM than actually exists!

Ah, but guess what? Shogo does NOT support Glide. :D

There was a reason why LithTech was originally named "Direct Engine": it ONLY supported Direct 3D.

I truly believe that, what you considered good performance, really was not. :P I mean, my low end machine that I first played it on was nearly the same as that. V2 SLI, K6-233 (which I hated), and 64mb of ram (if you had more, that may have helped).

I dont remember the year but I played Shogo with AMD k6-2 350Mhz and Voodoo 3 2000 and it played great. =) Awesome game....Loved that search-the-kitten level. :D

damn...we need 2 gigs AND a 256mb video card?

WTF!?!?

The game is probably still early-ish in development. Probably earlier than most games are when they start public testing. There's probably a lot of debug stuff going on in the background (requiring extra resources), and things aren't at all optimised. I'm not making excuses for Monolith - maybe their engine isn't as efficient or as scaleable as others - but these other factors undoubtedly play a part also. I'm sure the final game won't have such requirements (although a DX9-level card as a min spec is a given, I think).

Guess I'll try again tomorrow. And if anyone doesn't want their key anymore.... :D

Dude, it's going on right now and todays the final day (It's the third day of a 3 day event). They doing 1000 keys today, so you need to go now.

Edit: Are you saying you've signed up and were rejected? I think they only reject if you don't pass the specs quiz.

In order to play the game at the recommended resolution, detail and performance
levels

The recommended settings must be 1600*1200 with 4AA, ultra maximum very high detail and 120 fps to require such a beast.

Anyone still playing this game? The servers are criminally empty and it'd be cool to play anyone who got in. Damn Filefront. This game deserves attention!

Good. I'm glad their not getting any free testing. Hopefully this will discourage others from making their betas pay-per-play.

I still play it once in a while...It's going to be hella cool when the full game comes out...I just have to get a new graphics card before that.

Anyway, what is the release date on this?

One of the friendly GA members had hooked me up with a 10-day free pass, but I hear what you're saying. They need to abandon that partnership and release it somewhere else ASAP.

ToyMachine: Last I hear it was something like June.

Anyways, I'll change my name to Enigma, so if anyone spots me, give a shout.
