I have two Fender Squiers, acoustic and electric (black shell). Fourteen years later and I still haven't learned how to play barre chords, and I play diminished versions of C and D so it's easier for my small hands to get to them. My hands are fine now, but it's a habit I picked up when I was ten and don't have the time nor interest in unlearning.

Barre chords can be useful for certain thing sbut you don't need em. It's rare that I need to emphasize that many strings at once. I also typically play open variants of chords up the neck as they sound more complex.

It seems a lot of people are. My apparent allegiance is accidental and inertial. Both guitars were gifts from separate people and I don't play frequently enough to investigate alternatives. Actually, I only pick up a guitar once every few months most of the time, but I've had my eye on my acoustic more than usual this week because my sister cleaned and rearranged my bedroom while I was out of the country, and now my guitar sits in my peripheral vision all evening instead of behind me, lost in a corner.

I hate Guitar Hero and those other games.
Rocksmith feels different. (Due to actually using a real Guitar)

The tutorials masked as arcade games are really good. (They call it Guitarcade)
They go from really basic strumming, hitting a correct string, etc... to more intermediate.

The other cool part is when you get good at a song in the regular game,
you can play it in real life.

My bro used it to learn, now he's in a band.
