Mirai Nikki 10:

Well, that was an INTERESTING thing they did with the OP and ED.

Once again, the anime brings in material not shown in the manga to create an improvement in the way the story is told. Well, technically all that stuff with Minene was in the manga, it just wasn't in Mirai Nikki, that material was brought in from Mirai Nikki Mosaic (a short series containing side-stories) to fill out the episode's running time.

The first half of the episode, as hilariously narrated by Murmur, is origin story stuff about how Minene got her diary and how she met Nishijima. It's useful because if you read just Mirai Nikki itself and not Mosaic, you have no clue how Minene and Nishijima know each other when they encounter each other later on in the story. (This didn't make any sense to me when I first read Mirai Nikki until after I read Mosaic.) So the anime staff brought it into the anime, first off because it's useful background information, and second because the chapter of the manga proper which was covered in the second half of the episode is exactly as you see it here and certainly couldn't fill out 22 minutes on it's own.

This episode is not as useless as it would first seem, as you can see from what I outlined above, and from the final sequence at Yuno's house. In fact a number of things which happened here are vital to the story. Shit's about to start getting even more real than it has been so far. From this point on the story doesn't pause again for practice weddings or anything else. I hope you sons of bitches have your seat belts securely fastened.
