Fall 2011 Anime Thread |OT2| The Tampire is Coming

Emo is still nothing!

I was actually referring to Taichi.

During the elementary school segment, I disliked Taichi and rooted for Arata. It's easy to see why Chihaya would fall for him. Now that they're in high school, my feelings are the other way around. Taichi has become, not flawless, but a capable, mature person who's sensitive and responsive to the feelings of others. Meanwhile, Arata has completely withdrawn into his shell and is as insensitive to others as his classmates once were to him. I cannot root for him any longer. Of course, if their characters undergo further development, I will change my mind at that time.

Taichi is still as emotionally stunted as he was as a child, it's just that he's less tsundere/overtly dickish about it. He has no excuse other than having a Tiger Mom and being to spineless to throw filial piety into the trash and tell her off. Arata was happy to pursue his dreams until that dream, in his mind, caused the death of his grandfather. So, at least one can understand why he becomes an emotional wreck.

It's the Nice Boy vs Dick dichotomy. And as we all know, girls are enthralled by Dicks!
If that were true, Taichi would have won in grade school. lol

Fucking Niku. :(
They're just too busy with hardcore karuta training!
Not too busy to get a damn cake and throw her a party though. It's like he stepped out of Girl-age. :lol

Have you read that thread about the dude who was in love with a girl for four years and then she got engaged?

That's Taichi.
Also Sato!

I'd love some recommendations if any of you are willing. I kind of quit following anime after college. Be forewarned: I am picky.
Depends on what you like.

What kind of stuff did you like? I don't wanna recommend you something like Madoka if you absolutely abhor lolis.

Elementary school kids are mostly asexual, so the rule doesn't truly apply until puberty hits.

At this rate Arata is just going to bike over one day and he'll be like, sup, and the next scene will be of Taichi walking in on them making out in the karuta closet. Whatever that is.

Looks like my grand plan for YOU'RE UNDER ARREST to take over the forum
is going swimmingly.

Is this supposed to be subliminal messaging?

I'll do what I always do when someone asks for recommendations without any stipulations whatsoever: Check out these two threads and knock yourself out.

iM@S 20-23 The series is better in focusing on the bonds between the girls, in this case Chihaya and Haruka than purely P-san and idol episodes. Some of the success the other girls are having is also good to see particularly the shots of the rapidly filling (job) whiteboard.
P-san should be fine, I expect the next ep to focus on Haruka's reasons for being an idol and trying to reconcile her needs and wants. Still a bit stung by the 'Good Samaritan' jibe, obviously.

PenDrum 18-22 Things are really happening now, and the music use has been great throughout. It'll be interesting to see how Ikuni will wrap this up in the next two episodes.
It does feel very much like a long, long, goodbye, doesn't it. :/ And forgive me some speculah, I see this still a lot about Project M = Momoka or Maturity, where there's a keen sense of individual thought and action... without the requisite 'emotional base' that a family provides.

Yeah, so it turns out that at least the Shining Hearts part of that anime rumor back in early November was true after all, still from Production I.G.
During Bushiroad's 2011 Strategy Presentation, it was announced that Shining Hearts would indeed be getting an TV anime adaptation. The series will air in the Spring of 2012 and will be animated by Production I.G. As in the game, Rick will be voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya and Amil will be voiced by Kanae Itou. However, Neris will be voiced by Mai Aizawa and Airy will be voiced by Shiori Mikami.

Chihayafuru 10-11

I was a little wary of the increased focus on the karuta aspect of the show going in but thankfully, they've managed to make it interesting to watch. I stand by my statement that such a thing takes some serious skill.

Production values are still pleasingly maintained. The show remains pretty to look at and the music is still lovely and well used throughout. Madhouse certainly gets an A for effort.

Now I can't wait for Arata to come back into the picture and leave Taichi in the dust. It is inevitable. Also, fuck yeah barrel roll!

Looks like Sega learn it's lesson and ditch Deen for Production IG. Shining tears x wind is the most hilarious show ever with its machine gun sword and ntr. Anyway, this adaption will be shit since Productiin IG can't do game adaptation to save their lives.

C3 11

Lots of ass shots this episode. Doesn't stop Kuroe from being downright adorable though.

Post-credits scene is definitely a good sign that the finale will be fuckawesome. Can't wait for next week.

Was probably inevitable but Bakuman getting another season next year. Hooray~

Don't know why they don't just keep it continuous. The manga is apparently in a perpetual state of "ending soon", so it's not like they'd be short on material.

Jeez. This is the new long running shounen show then?

Technically Nura is newer as an adaptation, but we don't know how long that will last or if it will get a third season. Then there's Medaka in spring, but it's Gainax, so probably won't be continuous.

Maybe J.C.Staff doesn't want it to be continuous, I dunno.

At the rate they're going, they'll finish it anyway. Just in seasons rather than a continuous run.

It does kind of blow my mind how many continuous WSJ adaptations are going on right now. We got:

Bleach
Gintama
Naruto
One Piece
Beelzebub
Sket Dance
Toriko
Hunter x Hunter (maybe)
Nurarihyon no Mago (maybe)

Other magazine adaptations don't even compare. Fairy Tail and Detective Conan are the only other ones I can think of.

Not to mention we got Medaka Box but I doubt it will be continuous since its by Gainax.

Seitokai Yakuindomo 5-6 - Yes, this show is great fun. Good stuff, it's got consistent humor, plenty of funny stuff, and more... I'll be finishing this one for sure!

One of these was the beach episode. It went about as you'd expect for an anime beach (and inn/hotspring) episode, pretty much, except with Seitokai Yakuindomo-style sexual humor. Good stuff...
And yeah, it's still pretty funny that Aria actually has a metal chastity belt that she wears. :lol

That's an even sadder situation!
These are the same people who bought the anime series in droves, so why would the OVA's similarly good sales surprise you at all?

... I mean, I do find it hard to imagine paying the kinds of amounts Japanese anime fans pay to buy that stuff (actually wanting to spend that kind of money for a funny-awful show like IS?), but ... they are, and hey, at least it has entertainment value... obviously there are much better ways to use your money, but... oh well.

Because it sucks? Because it doesn't even have Charles and Char's only in like half the episode? There's lots of reasons.
I know it's been suggested, but maybe some of them like Houki too. I would think she'd be at least somewhat popular there.

New avatars all over the place, how confusing. Why must things change?
I agree, it's confusing when people change avatars. At least they're from a good show though.

You know what you must do.
Nobody wants the Yoriko avatar? Too bad... (Sorry, I don't either. I do like the character, but I don't change my avatar.)

I don't know, Chihaya isn't exactly normal... and even though Taichi was horrible as a kid, Chihaya never knew. And anyway, not all girls are like that, only some.

All three of them are emotionally abnormal, but that's part of what makes the show what it is.

One day you'll see the light and you'll root for Taichi
along with the inevitable NTR end when Arata swoops in and woos Chihaya
.

Taichi was too much of a jerk for me to want to root for him.

Of course, among those series, the only reason the Bleach and Naruto anime managed to stay continuous was through copious amounts of filler (One Piece as well, though not nearly to the same extent, it seems).

horizon - 11

Hilarious episode.

After watching like six episodes total I can safely say that Neito definitely has the worst design out of the bunch, and not even Marina Inoue can save it:

I don't quite know where to start with how bad it is - maybe the hair. Her power is pretty rad though.

Also everyone gets the keyface like every now and then. Dat art.

Why are we talking about shipping in Chihayafuru again? We all know romance is like the last thing to be resolve(never?) in sports/game anime. Besides the real winner is Chihaya x Karuta.

You make it sound like Detective Conan is throwaway. All those other shows combined probably doesn't reach Detective Conan's episode count.

Sure, but Taichi's emotional baggage makes him a jerk.

We wouldn't be fangirls if we didn't have shipping wars!

It's not even comparable, bleach and naruto for last few years have been going to filler around every 15 episode with filler lasting around 3months for bleach and like 6 month for naruto, while one piece has had like 4 filler episodes in the last 3 years.

Started reading Nurarihyon no Mago, I didn't even know it had an anime, hows the anime to compare to the manga?
