Penguindrum end:

beautiful, and I'd argue flawlessly executed ending. Such a great show.

minor, shallow issue: I wanted ringo and shouma to end up together ;_; at least nothing bad happened to her, I got pretty attached to her character >_>

I want another Ikuhara show now. Like straight away. Should I watch Utena? Never seen it. what is the end half of star driver like? I only ever saw the first part.

Un-Go 11 (END)

That was alright for a conclusion. Will still want to see episode 0 once it's on DVD, but otherwise I'm content with where things wound up. It was an interesting experimental series, maybe not a world I'd want to explore more of, but enough so that I enjoyed what I watched overall.

Guilty Crown 11

ahahahaha what the fuck are they doing
at least they've finally decided to say, the hell with any sense or reason, and go maximum crazy
in full trainwreck mode for me now, so bad but can't look away

Boku wa Tomodachi 12 (END)
Also worked well as a conclusion. Felt a bit heavy-handed in trying to get sympathy votes for Yozora, but I'll accept it. Plenty of novel to still adapt, and something I definitely wouldn't mind an S2 of.

Mawaru Penguindrum 24 (END)

Of course it wasn't going to explain everything, but dammit, I'll take what I can get. And what I got was awesome.
Still wanted to see Sanetoshi get totally destroyed or something, though at least Momoka seems to have gotten the last laugh.
Also, as a part-time shipper, I was grinning when Shouma told Ringo he loved her.
Also also, this bring the number of shows I've watched where it ends with a character wiping themselves out of existence (or something similar) to four.

Yes, watch Utena. Then watch Oniisama e after that.

fix your spoilers
That is an unfortunate spoiler-tag fail.

Star Driver is not an Ikuhara show.
They were failed for like 2 minutes! I fixed them almost instantly :|

and oh really at the star driver thing, I remember saying it kinda was or something? Was he involved at all? Why do I associate the show with him? Is it because it was fabulous!?

Absolutely. If you enjoyed Penguindrum then I can't see any reason as to why you wouldn't enjoy Utena.
Awesome! I'll have to get onto getting it then. I've been meaning to check out the show for the longest time and now seems a good as a time as any. Does Utena have a Ringo analog? ;_;

Penguin ending:
The shouma thing sucks ass but I can see why they did it... going with the whole, punishment theme and whatever. kinda agree the shouma thing sucks, as he didn't really do anything bad during the course of the series so it sucks having him take the batsu for his parents... or whatever. BATSU.

I personally would have liked shouma to live but it kinda works this way as well.... and if he had a happy end we wouldn't have had the scene with him saving ringo ;_; (was kinda hoping they'd "share" the punishment thing and he'd live on, but apparently not ;_; )

also: sanetoshi/momoka scene: they're implying sanetoshi is stuck haunting the world as a pink ghost whilst momoka got to move on.. right?

Its not that i dont like louise or anything, just that on one hand she is fucking adorable but then she is ludicrously annoying and i seriously want to punch her through a wall along with other kugilolis.

Penguindrum 24

Well that was excellent, I liked that it seems
Kanba and Shouma both sacrificed everything for the ladies they loved.

Toradora OVA

Lunchboxes are serious business. I'm kinda disappointed that it wasn't set after the series but that didn't stop me from enjoying this. I kinda miss Toradora :(

and oh really at the star driver thing, I remember saying it kinda was or something? Was he involved at all? Why do I associate the show with him? Is it because it was fabulous!?

I think it's because you're confusing Ikuhara with Yoji Enokido whom previously worked on a number of things with Ikuhara (Utena, Sailor Moon)

I want another Ikuhara show now. Like straight away. Should I watch Utena?
Utena is the most overrated piece of shit after Evangelion.
Like DUH, of course you should watch Utena why are you asking a question you already know the answer to?

HXH 10

is it me or is this show getting more better looking as it goes on.

Really liked the spining sword scene with
decapitation finaly

The one thing I didn't like is that
rude, crass hat-sama went away and was never seen or heard from again. Was that Momoka's true nature? Himari's? Where the hell did it go?

My mind is still full of fuck. I can't even process it. They left it
so vague as to what was happening and why.
As predicted, they didn't even attempt to
explain Sanetoshi and Momoka. My best guess is that she wasn't Ringo's sister at all, and that she just kept jumping fates, but it doesn't explain how a "curse" comes along.
There is also no
explanation for what the hell the child broiler is, or why it is. Also no explanation for why Sanetoshi felt the need to blow crap up.
I don't get why
Shoma and Kanba are children
either. Did the use of the
penguin drum send them back to when they were that age? Could that explain why Momoka is a child?

So full of fuck.

I'm sure the movie will do a better job explaining things

So what youre basically insinuating is that your head is full of what appears to be a fuck-like substance.

Rie kugumiya is a well known voice actress for a particular kind of character.
Usually the girl is very small and usually she is a little tsundere bitch.

Kugimiya=kugi
The girls are lolis.
Kugiloli. Know it. Fear it.

Cant wait until Christmas day when I'm off again and can watch the rest of Penguin Drum.
Good times ahead. I left off at episode 19 I believe or whichever one
Himari was very nearly sacrificed down an elevator chute

We need a new nickname for others now. I vote moezawa or Hnnngzawa.

Mawaru Penguindrum 24 is beautifully directed and very touching. What a fantastic light show! I liked how simple and relatable the concepts it was exploring were.

Motherfucking EXACTLY.
What was the point of there even being Momoka's split soul (?) in two penguin hats? I was thinking the Penguin lady was perhaps a half of Momoka's personality, but we never see the other half. Why were there even two hats? The only reason I can think of was to illustrate that there was another sibling in the extended family that was also dying before being revived by Sanetoshi. However, Mario was totally irrelevant and the show wouldn't have lost any meaning if Masako were cut completely, so why not just feature only one penguin hat which contains the soul of Momoka, who turns out to be crazy, domineering and foul mouthed? It would be both more coherent plot-wise and more interesting than the symbolic Mary Sue we get.

The show is simultaneously overwritten and underdeveloped.

I love the meaningless title that they gave Himari's Hat.
The Princess of the Crystal
in a show that had neither
royalty
nor
Crystals of any meaningful sort

Edit: Just googled. Apparently the
Crystal
in question is that
orb thing
from the Survival Strategy sequences. This explains almost nothing :P

I really liked 'why the hell not' touches like that, or the inclusion of the penguins. It just becomes a problem when meaningless things are the subject of a lot of build-up and foreshadowing.

did they ever
explain why there are cartoon penguin versions of everyone? why was the life force or whatever called a penguin drum? what were the memory erasing things? was Sanetoshi a combination of Kanbas parents? Were the boxes and child broiler real things or were they metaphorical? Why is everyone seemingly unaffected by Kanba being a mass murderer? Why do Kanba and Shouma respawn as kids at the end? what is the survival strategy sequence supposed to be? what is all the broken glass symbolism? there are more things that i didn't follow but if anyone can explain ANY of these id be happy.

Fuuuuu...

-New Kyoani show = must watch for eye rape
-Cant check out Penguin finale until tomorrow =(
-Still stuck on episode 20 of Utena and need to find the time for a marathon

I think you are overanalyzing it.
All i see is potential hnnngh.

Would love to have this mindset!

Going down the list..

Did they explain
the penguins
:
No, though it's kind of alluded to that they are children that have become invisible

What were the memory erasing things:
Pointless plot devices

Was
Sanetoshi a combination of Kanbas parents
: No. Not sure where that idea came from.

Were the
boxes and child broiler real things or were they metaphorical?
: My guess is metaphorical. I think the whole thing was a big metaphor for
an orphanage
since pretty much every character in the show but Ringo was an
orphan.
Not even that explanation makes much sense, of course.

Why is everyone seemingly unaffected by
Kanba being a mass murderer?
: They aren't. Shoma is pissed off, Masako doesn't know what to do, and Himari actively tries to
stop him.

Why do Kanba and Shouma
respawn as kids at the end?
: That was the price paid for using
the penguindrum to save Himari
Since it was
half Shoma, and half Kanba, they didn't completely vanish, but turned into kids approximately half their age instead. That's my theory anyway

what is the survival strategy sequence supposed to be?
Flashy animation that's good for television

what is all the
broken glass symbolism?
: One episode shows
kids going through the broiler, and becoming shards of glass.
In this episode, I think it symbolizes
their current lives shattering, and being reconfigured in the other fate
