Well, I mean that we're in the Haremshit Generation now. But we just don't understand it because we're living in it. The guy who makes something awesome in 2025 will be the one who takes Haremshit tropes and thinks of a new way to pander to creepy otaku that doesn't involve making the girl wet her panties blush in a close up. I genuinely look forward to how they'll visually pander to the next generation of nerds - especially since as we go on, our standards about sex and pornography go through radical shifts.
Eh, I don't think this generation's fap fodder will leave any more of an impression than '90s tastes (I can't even remember to say something snarky) or '80s tastes (which make modern lechery seem well-adjusted; at least our generation's 12-year-old fetish objects are drawn as 6-head women rather than still with their baby fat and ■ rather than ▼ torsos).
You know, maybe this is blasphemy, but assuming the art style of the source material is exactly the same, I think I like the Joshiraku/JC Staff renderings of Kumeta's art more than the Shaft-o version.
But maybe I'm tricked by the moe girls being moe gimmick.
Kumeta doesn't draw Joshiraku, he just writes it. It's drawn by the guy who illustrated the Toradora novels.
Kumeta's style has also changed a lot; IIRC KnK is pretty close to its source, but the '80s almost-Adachi used in that one ep of Goku SZS was from one of his earlier works, and SZS in general was really close to the mark.

(Does not include Pokemon, DBZ, FMA 1, Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, Paranoia Agent, GitS or Inuyasha, which I know I've watched some amount of episodes of each, but I'm not sure how many or if I watched the series from the beginning in order like I do with anything I watch nowadays)
After 3 episodes this is my surprise anime of the season as i wasn't even planning to watch it ..
BUt now i love it .. the quarells between the main characters and their fears and problem are well done and i enjoy the chemistry between them ..Also i can't get enough of the ED " LA LA LA LA "
This episode proves that even with a rubick's cube you can still score ! But i wonder what will happen once the poor guy will find the true identity of his beloved... [evil smile]
Here and there. You know, life is distracting sometimes - blasphemy, I know. But I'll try to be around more often. I really miss AnimeGAF and everyone that makes it so awesome.
It felt really unnecessary at best. Very little was changed. The only thing I noticed that was different was towards the end when the two girls were in the sky together they were wearing these sparkly dresses instead of appearing nude. I had recently watched the series back to back and I really felt that the story and pacing benefited the most from the one cour format. The two-part movie is roughly 60 minutes short of the entire series, so it really adds nothing when viewed as a complimentary piece to the original. It's kind of like choosing between a 12oz steak, and a 10oz steak, when really one should have been the 12oz steak, and the other should have been a leaner, more petite, and more delicious filet mignon with sauteed mushrooms. Ya'll know what I'm sayin here.
On a side note:
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 1 - 3
That was awesome. I need more.

The eyes could actually be rendering at only what amounts to overall at 1080p's pixel count.
You only ever look at what's in the VERY CENTER of your vision and your very peripherals have only black and white cells, so the surrounding 90% of the game's framebuffer could start at 720p 24 bit color and go down to 320x240 b&W

I guess that makes sense. But the bill seems to be too small and at the wrong angle. Looks kinda taped on there, but maybe she's just a normal girl that thinks she's a duck...
Since strengh and speed and variables that level up .. In those games it's possible to be speedy , regardless of your original appearance .. and gear does influence your stats
It's weird but I find reki kawahara's author's notes kinda moe. He always sounds so helpless. It's gotten to the point where I just wait for new notes to be translated.
Um, I probably shouldn't ask this for my own sake, but... for those of you who've enjoyed reading my School Days impressions, what other shows do you think you'd enjoy reading my impressions for?

I fear for what ALO will do to me. Once upon a time, I asked in this thread for the very definition of moe. The ghost of Tiff told me it wasn't something that could be defined but something that could only be felt. A few hundred works later, I found myself still wondering what it was. Was I immune to it? Was it due to my own failings? I felt emotionally crippled as if I could never truly understand what so many others knew.
Then I saw her:
Asuna in ALO.
Those ears, those wings, the very cage she's held in. It stirred strange and mysterious feelings in me and I began to question myself. I thought perhaps I had fallen prey to some sort of pandering but slowly, I came to terms with it. This strong character reduced to a damsel in distress, doubly so given what was happening in the real world, was in desperate need of something and that was protection. I believe in Kirito as he can do what I cannot yet these feelings linger and I begin to wonder if I finally understand the meaning of moe at last. However, I didn't want my first time to be like this. I wanted it to be memorable and special but not like this.

I'd be curious to read a compilation of how people pandered to otaku in previous decades anyway. There seems to be a craft here that I never really paid much attention to. lol

Ahhh, that makes more sense then. The Joshiraku girls definitely look more gooey and moe...ey.
Given that SZS is done, is he going back to drawing for whatever he's doing next?
Yes, that's why I told you the execution was different from the particular complaint that you gave as to why you disliked MPD.
Nothing is ever going to convince you on this point, however, because I'm pretty sure you started (& stopped) watching it before MPD even came out. It's OK. You don't like it. It's OK!
The first arc seemed like a good place to take a break, mostly because of how repetitive the whole duel thing turned out to be. It just felt like a show that was meant to be watched normally - week to week - than serially in some otaku-assed otaku marathon. Then MPD happened and here we are today.
I've definitely seen things where the gay people are "just there," though I don't think it's necessarily automatically any better than a gay-focused story just because it's rarer. I mean, if gay people are bullied to the point of suicide, surely there is at least as much interest to be had in the external conflict generated there as there is in the internal machinations of their relationships.
I do think it has its place, though. I'm hoping we'll one day get entirely past the need to kill off or villainize homosexual characters in fiction, as much as I enjoy stupid shit like Red Sonja. Getting there, I think!
Well, I guess it's the difference between having black sitcoms like the Tyler Perry shows or having black actors on sitcoms (like... umm... that one guy on New Girl). One allows you to directly address black issues, but seems to only be of interest to other black people while the other makes it "normal" to be black, but has absolutely no interest in examining black identity.
I'm not sure if there's a good solution to the problem, but for representation of minoritized populations, that seems to be where we're at. I guess in Japan I wouldn't mind seeing a comedy anime with a gay character where we laugh at the gay character not because he is effeminate but because, and let me BLOW YOUR MIND with this suggestion - he's funny!
KoiChoco was the most recent example of a funny-gay who is only funny because he comes on to the main character and talks about wanting to suck him off. High-LARRRRR-ious.
The Kids Are Alright was directed by a lesbian too, I think, and the whole thing where even lesbians couldn't resist the Mark Ruffalo cock was just totally bizarre, not to mention demeaning. That movie kinda totally sucks, though.
