Kanbaru didn't even appear in this season. She's the only character that I don't like.

Isnt that film the outlier on that list with such depressingly low selling anime like Flowers of Evil, From the New World, and Eccentric Family.
So returning to the subject I was on before I sidetracked things with talk of Edward and Jacob, my vote for AOTY goes thus:
1. Flowers of Evil
2. Wolf Children
3. Gundam Build Fighters
4. Monogatari SS
5. Valvrave the Liberator
Honorable mentions to MJP, KLK and Gargantia as anime I enjoyed that came out this year, dishonor upon Attack on Titan now and forever amen.
In terms of anime I watched this year, though, I'd go thus:
1. Gunbuster
2. Shin Mazinger Z
3. Monogatari series
4. Gundam Unicorn
5. Blood-C

You had an amazing turn-around of opinion on this show.
I know, which I should say is a very rare sight. Eureka Seven is the only other show I can make such a comparison. I don't love MJP, but I came to like it.

Want to know where this damn talisman came from ? You might have the answer if a monogatari s3 is made ( and is more than 1-cour ).
Want to know where the godly trio(kaiki, oshino and the girl i 've forgotten her name atm ) got their skills ( you can include gaen ) ?
This will be something that will not be told anytime soon but can be if the author wishes. but as of now we don't have have much story about those 4 characters aside from the usual annecdotal talk and don't last long )

Chris scene was rather amazing and the enhanced dramatic effect for the pitching scene made it more powerful than the manga did in both the game and even the afterwards. Didnt care much for the Zaizan stuff as to care for the opponent they would have needed more backstory and presence with key characters for longer. I guess compared too Oofuri thats where this lacks.

Not ending at the announcement of the players moving on like the manga chapter did was applause worthy as it would have been a cheap cliffhanger.

And Aku no Hana is definitely the 2nd best anime of 2013 right after Gundam Build Fighters.
I was actually surprised last year or so after I disappeared for a few months to come back and discover people engaging with DTL. I thought everyone agreed that he was some dumb college kid with an internet persona.

How do these games work exactly anyway? It sounds like they're some kind of tactical or strategy RPG but when I see footage or trailers of them it usually seems to be with a couple characters from different series yelling at each other with either catch phrases or just generic lines.
How familiar with the different series do you have to be do you think? Are the games still fun even if you only know a few of the series the game covers?
It's not really that simple, as you'll see later on, but yes the Garmilans are heavily inspired by Nazi Germany.

When this adaptation started, I assumed from the subtitle that it would be putting some kind of new spin on the events of the series, perhaps going down a new and unexplored "what if" route of some sort. But in the end, it turned out to be just a ridiculously condensed adaptation of Calamity Trigger followed by a heavily condensed adaptation of Continuum Shift. Which is kind of disappointing.
Even so, the series could have been somewhat enjoyable if it had had any kind of budget to put together some fun action scenes and recap the series in an entertaining manner. Sadly the budget for this show was clearly less than zero, and even the climactic battles in this episode were awkward snooze-fests with an absolute minimum of showing anything actually moving. Which is practically criminal for a franchise whose core is flashy battles between awesome fighters.
So yeah, this show was pretty much a waste of time. I'll give it a tiny bit of credit for not being quite as bad as the first couple of episodes (the CT content) suggested with their outrageous pacing (though that super-rushed beginning did its damage, ensuring that anyone using this as an entry point to the franchise would be completely lost forever). Some episodes of the CS content actually felt well constructed in terms of pacing, and it did seem like the adaptation chose the right parts of the narrative to focus in on for the most part.
But ultimately, this series didn't do anything that the game itself didn't already do far better. The closest it came was in Lambda's development, but I can't even give it too much credit for that since her focus episode was basically just a slight reworking of Lambda's CS "gag route", which was already one of the more memorable highlights of that game. Props for including it, but it's difficult to screw up excellent material that doesn't include any action for your non-existent budget to massacre.

Its an SRPG and the the thing you described are the scenes when the units engage. Alot of the fun does indeed come from recognizing the units (its a crossover game after all) but its not a requirement. When I started playing SRW I barely knew any of the units and I just had fun watching super robots fighting each other.
Eventually SRW works in the reverse in that, playing units in the game makes you want to watch the anime but that path almost always lead to tears. (Don't tell Corvo but most Super Robot series suck)

That's thin. The character didn't have any time to do anything relevant . Senjougahara was mostly outside the story as well during monogatari S2 yet she had so much more scenes including key plot points.
When we'll have the arc where araragi interracts with her ( the gaen request ) she will have her time to shine, but she had 1 scene for 26 episodes ? No wonder she is at the bottom of so many lists.
No wonder the future arcs will correct her lack of presence. she was underused as a character... Kanbaru fans can be outraged , it's perfectly normal for people to have a low opinion of her.
I'm enjoying the manga so I'll probably give this a try.
The art isn't as appealing animated for some reason.
her arc literally got cut. what do you expect? of course she's not going to do anything.
she was the sole motivating factor for kaiki returning though.

A great setup episode for what's sure to be a thrilling confrontation. I really enjoy the rivalry between Okita and Domel that's been developed; a war is always more exciting to watch when the two sides both have charismatic commanders competing against each other.

As for the expectation part ..well i'm not expecting anything ..but some people ( kanbaru fans ) are surprised when others don't like her as much as the rest when in reality she didn't have any opportunity to be relevant.
Kanbaru is an alright character but it's perfectly normal that people don't like her given the treatment she got.

Being relevant doesn't matter, if you dislike a tomboy voiced by Miyukichi you're weird as fuck.

Okay. I'm really enjoying Gundam Build Fighters right now despite not really having seen many Gundam shows so I wondered how SRW compared. GBF is having a similar effect in that I'm not really that interested in buying Gunpla's but I kind of want to take a look at some of the anime series like 0800 more now.
I probably should have asked in my last post but do you think there would be many problems getting into the series if I were to end up buying Z3 first?

On #1: If that that's the case then that automatically debunks the theory that Ougi might be the black sphere thing trying to erase Shinobu because why would something that hates fake claim (to Sengoku she met on her way to school) that she's Oshino's relative?
