Oh. I know that anime adaptions are pretty much done only as an advertisement for the original source material but Mahouka was so bad and boring that it feels weird to me that anime adaption made LN sales overtake the almighty SAO. Well I guess I just can't see the awesomenes of Onii sama.

Well mahouka was already rising and popular ( so much that it even got adverts Inside other anime ) the anime only made it bigger.

So when the BDs can't sell on the promise of no censorship because there was nothing to censor in the TV broadcast you have to come up with alternative incentive. In this case just slap a transparent black layer on top.

Sometimes you wonder if this is really intentionnal and there isn't someone fucking things up inside the Tv station themselves.

Just finishing up Fate / Zero and watched the fight between Iskandar and Gilgamesh. Rider has become one of my most liked anime characters ever. This whole series I've not really found myself caring about Saber and Kiritsugu, and much more interested in Rider and Waver.

Caring about Rider and Waver over any other group isn't wrong though. It's the right choice.

Chocotto Sister Advent Calendar - Day 1

I wanted to watch something at least vaguely Christmasy for December, and there's an anime that fits that criteria and has 24 episodes, which works out perfectly. So, let's begin with There's No Way This Little Sister Anime Predates Oreimo. Trends exist in prmitive forms even before they strike a big hit.

A motorbike-riding, female Santa... G-men must have been doing this for a long time. A brother and sister's relationship is the central relationship of this show, but based on the first episode, it's more of a cute one than a brocon one. Choco's backstory, such as it is, has some tragedy to it. Haruma wanted a little sister, his mom wasn't able to concieve, and so Santa somehow made one(?) and delivered it. That's Choco. Very simple story in the first episode, getting lost. In some ways, the show reminds me of PapaKiki based on the first episode.

It's leaving Christmas territory very quickly, but Christmas is its catalyst and all over the OP. I look forward to seeing where this goes. Like the OP, and the "Kitty-Cat Dance" for the ED is adorable.

Love is not a bowl, or a cup, or a tournament, or anything else like that. Once again, VNs have the right idea. When the player character commits to one girl, she remains that way for the rest of the story. That's what love is, a commitment. Because I have the feeling Tomoyo was the girl Jurai met a while ago - her reaction says a lot - and the way the show's positioning her as being like a Shinka who secretly wants to be Mori Summer again says a lot about her state of mind.

And as always, the viewers' reaction to things is different from how the show is treating it. Hatoko didn't understand the culture of chuuni, but she wants to, and is making an honest effort to. Friends are important to her, so she wants to share their interests, and come to know the inherent contradictions that supernatural stories hold. The blessings and the curses. Kinda similar to what was going on with Sayumi.

Jurai is also a walking pile of those contradictions. As Chifuyu bluntly called out, he does have emotions, and wears them proudly. But the social script not just for the Dark Flame Master, but for men in general, says that to be emotionless is to be cool. The lack of emotions is a facade for someone who's extremely magnanimous - and I wish more characters could be as open about it as Jurai. It's the same concept behind the tsundere, really, except when the tsundere is being dishonest about her emotions, it's seen as an annoyance instead of the way things are "supposed to be". Is anything really what it's supposed to be? Everyone in this show is wearing a mask except for maybe Chifuyu, and she can reshape the world however she pleases. Her honesty is rewarded in the form of pure self-expression.

Light novels do have interesting things to say. "Harem" is as valid a framework as "sports anime" or "battle anime". And otaku culture has plenty of thoughts to say about itself. Write what you know, after all.

Going back to Cinderella Girls, while Ranko is my favorite of the ones who are confirmed in the preview, there's a few left out who I wanted to see. Chika Yokoyama, Hikaru Nanjou... and Shizuka Oikawa. These three don't even have CD releases so I understand it... but I just want to see them animated.

I agree. there are so many great idols they skipped over. Some of the most interesting and unique personalities! At least Ranko is there.

Cute guns doing cute things then. Mostly funny because it's so completely ridiculous. Quite lewd at times too. It does have a lot of info about guns, but I'm not sure that would be a good enough reason to watch if you feel the need for an excuse.

The action is entertaining enough, but the drama doesn't really work, probably because, well... everybody are guns! Sako is really something as well. More of a show to laugh at then with.

Some of the music seems similar to the music in Air.

That was the best episode this season and maybe of the entire show. The Fighting Dog of Kuro is even more entertaining animated and his tragic origin story is a grave reminder that we must always keep our bottles safe. I also appreciated the omake being focused on Machimiya and Hiroshima as his team had the least development in the manga so more of that would be great.
