Im not gonna deny that. But like I said, the only time IRL I ever though it was cute was because of what my friend said afterward. She has a cute voice anyway so it was similar to the Natsume moment where a gross scene is made cuter just because of something that was said.

I made blind purchase few days back and bought Macross 7 DVD set since it looked like awesome scifi saga. I was expecting awesome dogfights and all kinds of action but I get some guy wanting to end war with music. This show sucks so much

I love Fire Bomber and the series mood altogether but it's really dull otherwise... I'm really glad they made Macross FB7, it's a perfect compilation movie for 7 (except for the Sheryl/Ranka medley...) and the only thing you need. I'm never, ever watching the entire series again.

Rose of Versailles sounds like what you want.
I was hoping the Fujoshi would carry the series into another season but are those fans really that unstable.
My thought it was some sort of basketball purist pissed off that a series like Kuroko no Basket is popular.

Thanks for that! I knew I was missing some. I've seen Roses about 10 years ago. It's definitely in "that" vein... really heavy too. Any more? I'm trying to hunt down some obscure series in this vein I may have missed or to see if anyone is trying to revive the style. I think I saw something recently that attempted it but it escapes me right now.

The only thing that comes to mind is Mawaru-Penguindrum and that's really stretching it. I would recommend Revolutionary Girl Utena too since that takes its visual style from Versailles, but that's the 90s and I don't know if that's too recent for what you want.
I've seen mosquito anthro art where the anatomical properties of mosquitos are as horrifying as you'd expect when adapted to humans so yeah, better put this one in the NEVER pile.
1. Become obsessed with animal girls, drawing comics and stuff.
2. Make it big with a magical girl spinoff of your own visual novel with splosions and stuff.
3. Even while taking in that success make a hentai game with moe dog girls as the heroines because you're just that obsessed.
4. Finally, parlay Nanoha's success into a brand new anime which is essentially a vehicle for even more moe dog girl antics because, like I said, obsession, and watch it become successful enough for three seasons.
Dude is the definition of livinthedream here.

I've never eaten a cicada but I have eaten crickets and cicadas are not crickets.
There really isn't a comparison. Cicadas are much louder on an individual basis, and when they're en masse the sound is omnipresent.

Melodrama isn't a gebre hat's explored in quite that same way anymore. It doesn't help that we no longer have Osamu Dezaki with us, because he encapsulated that style more than any other anime director.

Zetsuen no Tempest 01 - 02
- This was one of the shows I picked to watch from the initial Fall list, but after being disappointed by JoJo's and underwhelmed by Psycho Pass I was leery of giving this a chance.
Those first two episodes were awesome. You know when an anime isn't what you were looking for, but is something better? Yeah, that's my experience through the first two episodes. Don't let me down!

I really do recommend that people check out the 1UP podcast where they discuss the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise, which can be found here: http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3182486
When I first heard that they were going to be doing an Evangelion-centric podcast I assumed that it was going to be an absolute disaster, after all they don't specialise in anime and most discussions about anime on podcasts (and discussions about Evangelion in particular) are just garbage.
Luckily, however, that's not the case here. This is pretty much all down to the fact that Jeremy Parish and Christian Nutt are the two hosts who talk the most about the series and they're really good at articulating their points cleanly and quickly. The reason their discussion didn't become a stupid Eva argument was because, amazingly, Jeremey and Christian had already has there argument about the show over a decade before when it first aired. Their ability to reconcile their differences and admit that they were both being jerks online gave me faith in the ability of people to rationally discuss things online. Good stuff.

The only one I know of is Wanko To Kurasou. Maybe it's that. I heard there was an English patch. I should probably get around to playing it - I've only ever played through two eroge, but I liked them both.
