Fallout 4 - Multiple E3 Gameplay Demos, Releasing November 10th, 2015

The animations look straight up trash and they really should have adopted Witcher style dialogue selection, that "wheel" looks really odd. Otherwise, the game looks pretty cool. I'll probably pick it up for christmas if there's nothing better to play.

What does layered armor mean?

also, dear god when that Vault guy came to door and started speaking i facepalmed.

Everything else looks brilliant though

The heck is better about the Witcher 3 dialogue selection? Same idea as BioWare without the wheel so it is just an ugly list that doesn't suit the UI, using yellow and off white disgusting text. There's no fundamental difference.

If you go through and look at the footage you can see the protagonist running around in the vault jumpsuit with several different levels of protection layered on top of it. Certain armor pieces can exist on top of other armor.

Do we have any idea about the levelling system? Is it gonna be like the other fallouts or they gonna take skyrim's model?

I think all we know so far is that Skills use ranks now instead of going up to 100. My best guess is when we level up, instead of allocating a bunch of points we spend a single point ranking up a skill.

That crafting video seems immersion breaking.

so you just click on a building and boom it's gone.....hmmm.

I'm sure it's great fun to do and I'll get used to it but that's just how it feels ATM.

I wouldn't read too much into that, cause the trailer basically shows the regular vault outfit, the usual reinforced version, and the Vault Security Jumpsuit which were always just 3 different 'armors' in previous games.

Ranks could refer to perks, and not skills.

The environments look so much better this gen. The foliage looks good or open world. Yeah some animations and and NPCs looks dated, but overall It's still a big upgrade over Fallout 3. Not sure how I feel about VATS being back.

I'm with you on that one, however, I'm going to assume that the only building you can do that with is yours.

So you can completely scrap your house to craft new rooms and the such. Not everyones houses all over.

I said the game will be this year! :)

Sold me to it. Will definitely buy it, but the dialogue UI makes me sad a bit. I want it to be the F3-style.

50 base weapons? How many did Fallout 3 have?

Quick count I came up with 47 not counting unique versions of guns and dlc weapons or explosives like mines or grenades. So F3 and FNV might have more base weapons but with from what was shown of the mods in F4 which seem way more varied than the mods in FNV, I imagine the number of weapons will be far greater in F4.

Character creator and crafting (house and settlement building especially) looked good/amazing. Lighting looked nice.

Gunplay looked real bad, regular Bethesda stuff though, so.. Graphics are so rough, really bad textures everywhere. Jet pack and Vertibird being usable is neat at least!

Pretty mixed bag for me. Don't care for the voiced player character. Didn't really need to hear my character voice Bethesda's terrible dialogue, but, maybe they stepped their writing up a notch.

In Witcher you can at least have more than 4 different dialogue options visible at the same time.

After The Witcher 3 all I can say is 'meh..'

It still has the same horrific stiff combat and movement from Fallout 3. I am just glad to know that exploring the world gives me enough fun, because it does not quite have anything else to show for it now.

Also, I like how they went back to using generic enemy names because they couldn't come up with any new faction names for the raiders.
"Raider Veteran" is such an amazing name.

A voice from someone who is actually that ethnicity for each one. Otherwise you have a white dude voicing a black or asian guy. Whoever's voicing this sounds like boring mcvideogame voice

Voice depend more on environmental context than ethnic

That would make sense. In the video they did mention there were various building across the world to 'build' so I assume those are player houses.

I guess bobbleheads'll give a free rank if that's the case:

You could see in the conference stream that Gun Nut goes to Rank 4 at least (and somehow I doubt that's the max, Rank 5 would make more sense, or maybe even 10) - that's a lot of level-ups needed if you want to max more than a few.

Obviously the graphics are better but it still has the strong "Fallout/gamebryo" touch ... including the animations/movement... -_-

Still looking forward to this game. People are going to do crazy huts with the base building.

Just finished the press conference. I am really hyped for Fallout 4 right now. I loved Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 looks to be what I want. I especially want to try the Falllout Sims crafting features. A problem is that I played Fallout 3 with Game of the year edition and these kind of games are better later on with DLC and better patches. If I play it in November I will not be interested to play it later when it has those DLC. Once I finish such games I don't tend to come back due to new available content to purchase. So I am not sure what I will do.

It looks really fun and the new features are incredible! It could be the reason to buy a PS4 or to play on my notebook(if it can run it).
The only thing that i don't like is that it's too colored and bright, some locations are beautiful in a wrong way for me, it gives me a sense of hope, while i loved the oppressive and hopeless atmosphere of fallout 3.

This fucking thread....................

The funny part is that 90% of the people bitching about it are still gonna get it day 1 like the rest of us.

Just saw the pressconference.

Fallout 4 looked great and it's coming this November. I am hyped and will probably get this day one.

There's so much you can do! And I hope that that is a positive thing and not that they will try to do too much, but this is Bethesda and they have had over 5 years development time on this so not that worried. It looks great visually to be a Fallout game, but nothing overly exciting generally.
Still the story seems intriguing, the game mechanics awesome and with a 2015 release to top that.

I was already excited for this, now I'm even more so. There's just so much to do in this Fallout. I'm really impressed.

If I was only buying one game this holiday, it would be this one. Can't wait.

Jesus Christ, that crafting system looks overwhelming as fuck. I'm all in for customizing weapons, but that whole bit about building entire homes seems... too much for me. I thought I was watching some real time mod tools instead of the actual game.

This is what makes me afraid of even coming onto GAF during E3. Most of it is whiny criticism's of something they've barely seen anything of or even played.

he said it was optional.

Watched all the gameplay videos, excited and hyped as hell. Come to GAF to share in the excitement and hype with my fellow Gaffers, but apparently the game looks shit and last gen. Sorry GAF.

Man, I am so ready for a new Fallout. All the added features sound like awesome steps forward.

Having said that, the dialogue diamond really bummed me out. I like the idea of conversations that are more dynamic, but this truncated sentence approach is just super lame. I guess that's partially a result of having a voice actor for the main character, you don't want him just repeating what you chose verbatim.

It's an unsightly blemish on what was, on the whole, a fantastic presentation. I'm all in.

Really? To me it didn't look THAT complex. I mean, it's all side stuff you don't even need to do, but even then it was pretty much like Epic's Fortnite except with furniture and the whole energy stuff to light up things or make other things work.

I'm really looking forward to it!
