It won't peak on day 1 at all, if previous games are anything to go off of. People have 40GB installs to work through after they make their impulse purchases when they see half their friends playing the title.

Nevermind. I didn't know I had to go through this huge install while watching those SPECIAL videos.


One question, does someone have a link to how the name system works? If I want characters to be saying my first name should I put it as my last name in the game? Do only my companions say my name?

Two ideas:

1) Did you try to just lauch Fallout4.exe instead of using the launcher?
2) I had a problem where it wouldn't detect the resolution of my TV (it literally had a blank for resolutions) and wouldn't launch. I edited the Fallout 4 preferences file (in your doc directory) for the proper resolution and haven't had any problems since.
 
So I just started it up on PC (first time playing a Fallout game).. spent a really long time in character creation. Wish there were more hairstyles though. Would people make some mods for that maybe?
I'm pretty excited for mods. Only other Bethesda game I've played was Skyrim on 360 so I missed out on all the awesome mods you could get on PC.

Yea spoilers have been spammed all threw social media, I honestly would never open twitter, facebook, reddit or any live streams if I cared about spoilers. Trolls are also going in peoples live streams and spamming the ending in the chat box. I knew the ending for like almost a week now thanks to trolls.

I wonder why would an open-world 2015 AAA PC game use fixed time steps. It would make sense if Bethesda was a Japanese publisher/developer.

Yep!

Played only 4 hours(damn I'm tired now, work yay!) but with lights out and my headphones I really dived into this world of raiders and bottlecaps! So much fun.
Also the weather effects!

Had to turn thr graphics a bit down though...my 270X is getting old.
 
Got to play an hour, but that's gotta be it for me tonight. Work and class too strong.

This game is going to consume me.

Yeah, it's pretty hilarious. Even hilarious still is the fact that I can't seem to lock the framerate to 60 without introducing insane stuttering and mouse lag lol.

The idiot Savant perk is not only useful but funny as hell. Every time you get the exp bonus the perk gives you, the idiot Vault Boy pops up on screen and acts like a moron.
 
fuck me when do i name my character i didnt see it in the character creator i fucking spent 1 hour and a half making my character....

Well I guess it was inevitable then. Dammit, I've been waiting for this game for 4 years and I didn't even make it an hour past launch without ruining the main quest for myself. I still have a lot of questions about what I read, so at least it's not completely spoiled.

Oh well, I figure I'll finish the main quest in a couple of days like I usually do with Bethesda games and after that I won't even be bothered by being spoiled. Still sucks though :(

Whenever you finish character creation and the vault tec guy comes to your door and asks you to fill out the SPECIAL form.
 
Weird, I bought the Gold Edition from Best Buy that included the season pass and they just sent me the code for the season pass and refunded me 25.75 for it at the same time. So I guess I ended up paying 47 and change for the game, season pass, and ugly Vault Boy socks.
 
Damn it! RedBox screwed me over. I checked the machines near me on Monday and they showed Fallout 4 coming 11/10 but I just now got back and it's disappeared. The website says there's not a single copy in the whole city.
 
While I have noticed some FPS drop on the PS4 version, it's been running fine thus far. No FPS drop when aiming down sights and the FPS in the first building in town hasn't been dripping either.

I agree. If you don't know what you want to do or how you want to play this then making everything even is the way to go. Then next time or on a restart you can try something else. Since this is a new game making such a decision so far in one direction early one can easily screw you if you aren't prepare to really tough it out I think. I don't know if I'm going to enjoy melee or range in this game so I'm going right down the middle first time through to see how each feels.
 
Skyrim's concurrent peak on Steam has been surpassed. GTA V will probably go down tomorrow. DOTA 2 and Counter-Strike are out of reach, but Bethesda reclaims the third party crown.
 
Playing on PC. Can't get the game to keep my full screen options.

And after playing for an hour and quicksaving multiple times my save is gone. Can't load.

Sigh.
 
Heads up, Codsworth is totally a worthy companion. His Saw arm literally chops enemies up. Their arms are usually the first thing to go.

Seems to be common, though. Folks on Reddit and Twitter are saying the same thing. I guess because my download isn't done? But at the rate it's going, the install will take several hours longer than the download. I was hoping I'd at least be able to play with the character creator while the dl finished. Oh well.

This is a heads up for players regarding a certain skill book found in the early game that I don't think is common knowledge and may be helpful:
When you return to your old home, check the baby's room for a SPECIAL book and activating it will give you one extra stat point of your choice.
 
This runs like ass and looks like ass on a 970+4790K. First impressions seem very 2008 so far.

Hoping to dig deeper this coming week.
 
Thought I read that "Catherine" was a voiced name, but Codsworth keeps calling me mum and I'm upset
edit: lmao literally said Catherine immediately after this post. Fuck me I guess.
