Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition

I have a preorder for the PS4 version on amazon.fr but wanted PC. Impossible to get. :/
I'll probably keep it though. Can still buy the PC version and sell the PS4 copy, the Pipboy should work on PC?

I've never opened an iPhone and I now hate them for being so small. The app will not look great on my 5" compared to those tjny iphones. Damn you.

Also, as a keen purchaser of collectors editions, I'm glad for once that they're actually limited. They lost the point recently with them being everywhere and then going on sale for cheap because of over produce. They made a good amount. I am sorry for those who missed out, but I'm glad limited means limited for once.

Edit: Oh wait, I have a 5S sitting around anyways.

Dedicated pip boy phone!

In fact, I have a question. Do we know what it'll look like with nothing inserted? Is there something to put there to put in on display? Is it like the picture? I'd love it if it came with a piece of plastic that looked like a tube television turned off, for display sake.

I think the image on the screen here is what comes with it.

If you look at an extreme close-up of it, it looks like a printed image. Someone who's seen it in person could probably answer for sure.

According to the phone compare site, mine should be able to fit in there. I remember back durign FO 3/NV I always imagined how cool it would be if we could just have a wrist mounted smartphone.

I think the pipboy itself looks pretty cheap buy I wanted the metal case. I'll probably sell my pipboy and just keep the game and case. Maybe.

Also, I wonder what the cheapest smartphone you can buy that will run the app would cost you. For those with those huge phones (my 6 is big enough, wouldn't have minded if they hadn't increased size honestly), may be worth it if you can find a cheap android/iphone 4 to just use as a dedicated device for the pip boy.

that is the question ;)

Sell it, 6+'s are too big anyways :P (yes, I know I am the rare geek that doesn't want a huge screen).

Or, just use my suggestion above ;).

That's what I plan to do. I still use a 4S, never upgraded because I feel like the 5 didn't have enough improvement and the 6 was a step backwards. I was scared for a while that there would be no way it supports something as old as the 4.

If you plan to really use it, I think a dedicated Pip-Boy phone is a great idea (just imagine someone scrambling when a call comes in lol), an iPhone 4 can be found for under $100 easily. There might even be a Chinese Android phone that's even cheaper, but won't fit the foam insert.

The longer it goes on, the less I want mine. Doesn't hurt to keep the preorder for now, but I can't say that I'll be inclined to pull the trigger once it gets close.

I'd rather upgrade one of my monitors for the same price.

You didn't think 4G was a big enough improvement?

You guys that have phones that don't fit, if you really want to use this you could always get a cheaply used Android phone. I have one that I use for Swagbucks so I might use that even though I have an iPhone 6 so it won't run my battery down.

Yah pretty much this, you can pick up a cheapo Android for about 100 bucks (or less). You don't have to worry too much about performance I doubt the Pipboy app will be a cpu killer and you got yourself a handy backup phone.

I have a Nexus 5 right now and I am hoping this year Google doesn't screw up again and releases a proper refresh to the Nexus 5 instead of that Nexus 6 monstrosity. If they do my old Nexus 5 will become a dedicated pipboy gadget.

Just a reminder for those worrying your phone won't fit that you can buy a cheap android phone like the LG fuel for about $15 refurbished on ebay. I mean sure the screen isn't very big but it should be able to handle the app well enough. Just use that phone exclusively for the pipboy or use it in other ways like for an mp3 player if you need to justify the purchase.

Updated the op with the new info.

Also, the Fuel has Android 4.4 and a dual-core cpu so it should probably handle the app pretty well, and it can easily be found at $15-$20.

There will be reviews of the app and the Pipboy itself before launch so I'll keep my pre-order until I see those. If it's worth it in terms of actual in game use then I'll keep it and buy a cheap sub $50 Android phone that can run the app.

If not I'll either cancel or sell the Pipboy Edition.

I have a Note 4 and this pisses me off. I guess it's a good thing I didn't have the cash to get it immediately when it was announced. :(

I evidently drunk pre-ordered one of these. Went to the Amazon page and saw the 'you purchased on' message at the top of the page.

Good job, Tequila... well played

I use a note4 primarily, but have a few other phones laying around. I would only use it for display purposes, so getting a cheapy, unactivated Android phone is trivial compared to the price of the CE.
