Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition

I have a 6+ but my kids have 5S style iPods I can use. You would be a fool to drop this sold out preorder because your phone doesn't fit. It will sell for big money. If I can sell/trade the pipboy for an xbox elite controller after I beat the game, I probably will.

Not so bad when it's extremely limited collector's editions.

And not bad in general especially when you're getting discounts.

On the one hand; I don't have a smartphone so I'm considering just keeping this baby sealed and flipping it a few months down the road. On the other hand; I love Fallout and want as much merch as I can get my hands on....decisions decisions.

With not much collectors worth besides a cheap plastic pip-boy phone case. Something you can whip up in 30min on a 3D printer.

I'm thinking of canceling mine too. Really wish these thins still came with physical OST CD's and well done art books.

In my previous post very early, among the first ideas (before I found at the conference that the development started out after F3, mine were much older than I knew they were) regarding what could be introduced in Fallout 4, in one of the lines I told about androids, but no way, I never expected to see it coming straight at the conference. This is it; one of first ideas of the concept. This is how they supposed or should look a like. No facial features, however "eyes" to be the main focus, like in previous post.

However, I don't know in what direction they went with this. Could be a leftover like many concept examples of Adam Adamowicz (RIP) that never end into the game. A possible unique character & sidequest like Festus, ultimately changed the entire shape or they simply made him a new model of robot.

Also, if nobody mentioned so far, but it was discussed, skill books + perks for vehicles. To be announced early or after Gamescom (or not at GG) by Pete Hines or Todd Howard.

You can always sell it for double the price? Hahaha or sell it to someone that is really wanting it super badly.

*cough* *cough* ..
me

Haha I have a hard time selling collectibles, let alone for a steep profit to someone who really wants it. I've been on the other end of that--paying upwards of triple the price for something--and it stinks. So on the rare occasion that I sell stuff, it's never for a big profit or anything. Buttttttttt I'll most likely be keeping this for my gaming shelf. Sorry! D:

For anyone in Australia that missed out the first time around, eb games have limited amounts available on xbox one again online.

I have a PC copy preordered, but I might just go for the regular edition so I can buy this and Metal Gear Solid V. Eh. I still got time to decide. lol

Unfortunately this comes out on my fiancees birthday, so I want be opening mine until the next day. That will give me a chance to find out how from others the quality, and if I should open it or sell it.

Is that screen image a paper cut out?

I hope they include something like that you can put in there when you're just displaying it.

Or you can simply print one out yourself. We built our own pip boy few months ago, just printed out a screen to slide into the pip boy, and we even added some led lights behind it to make it look like its on

is anyone here seriously planning on wearing this as they play the game? There seems to be a lot of internet uproar about their phones not fitting, when I assume most people will open the box, put their phone in, say 'neat' and then pop it on their shelf for the next 5 years.

It's okay. I would have not sold it either. If anyone gets any word on it being restocked anywhere please tell us. I really want this super bad but not bad enough to pay triple the price, maybe almost double, but not triple lol.

So, my Note 3 isn't going to fit is it?

That's okay... I guess... time to buy a burner phone just to use the Pip Boy once.

I don't even have a smartphone (or cellphone or tablet) of any kind. It's just fucking awesome and I want it even if I won't ever "use" it.

said someone who just bought a $120 game

Anyone who ordered internationally from GAME UK should be getting this:

We are writing to explain why we have cancelled your pre-order of Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition.

Your shipping address was listed as an international address, unfortunately as this edition weighs over 1kg we are unable to dispatch this internationally as per our Terms and Conditions.

The refund for your deposit amount should be processed automatically within the next 2 days to return via your original payment method. You do not need to contact us regarding this refund.

Should you wish to re-order, it would be required to have a valid UK Mainland Shipping Address. More Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition's will be available on Friday 3rd July and will be of limited availability. Please be advised that we cannot ship to a P.O Box or a Mail Forwarding address. The Standard Edition of Fallout 4 is currently available to order and can be shipped internationally.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by this cancellation.

Wow. That sucks.

Why would you order from the UK though? Were they the only ones that had it or are you in Australia? I imagine that would become really expensive either way, unless they have free shipping or something.

I'm just going to use the app on my phone without the giant expensive plastic bracelet and pretend that my personal Pip Boy is smaller and phone-shaped.

However, if Bethesda made a CE with a big art book and soundtrack, I'd be on it like white on rice.

Going to put my phone in, tape my Google Cardboard to it, and then mount it on a plastic arm hanging above my desk, it's really the only way to get true immersion.

I'm from Portugal, and they were the only ones up when I created my order. (And to this very day I still haven't found a local store accepting orders for this edition)

But I was fully expecting them to eventually cancel it. I read about the 1kg limit before and even posted about it here, but when I ordered the weight still wasn't listed, so there was a VERY small chance it could be under 1kg :P

But that's why I have a backup order (well, my only order now) over at Amazon FR ^^

Just for my understanding: You have to plug in a smartphone at the same position where the monitor ingame is or else it's just a toy without practical use? I thought there is a little LCD monitor built in already, i mean it's 60$ more. Why should i even use this thing then? All the information comes from the phone and the pip boy is just a bulky thing on my forearm. Sorry if i kill the mood, but i just don't see the point. Thought it would be something like this specificially designed and programed for fallout 4:

basically this is just a piece of plastic right?

not even close to the super awesome modern warfare 2 nightvision goggles?
that was working

am i the only one that is not really impressed with this ?

So I preordered mine through Amazon but the more I think about it, the more I just want the game and not the collectors' stuff.

I'd rather it go to someone who's interested in it - if you'd like to buy it from me, send me a PM.

You're expecting a bit much. I can understand it not being worth it for some, but $60 isn't outrageous for what you get. Honestly I think I want that capsule case as much as the Pip-Boy.

Yes it's just a piece of plastic, but you get more than the plastic "toy". Also comes with stand, case, book, poster. It still may be overpriced, but they are not making these in mass production, it costs most to make per item.

Also, does your little device have wireless connectivity and processing power to communicate real time with the game? and I see that it only has 2.5" screen with 16bit graphics. no thanks.

But no one thinks of MW2 when they see a set of Night Vision goggles, it's not an intrinsic part of the game. If SOCOM or the Battlefield series wanted to do the same, they could. The Pip-Boy is specifically tied to the Bathesda Fallout games, it doesn't exist anywhere else and you constantly interact with it in the game. The only set of night vision goggles I can see carrying the same following as a Pip-Boy is the one from Splinter Cell, those were specifically tied to that series.

To anyone who's criticizing this idea- get real. Fallout fans have wanted this for a long time, if you don't believe me then just look up "3d printed Pip-Boy" and see what comes up.

On one hand, the pip boy is iconic of fallout so it's kind of a cool idea to integrate the app and the "toy".

On the other hand, I even despise having game cases, so to me it's tacky plastic clutter.

"What is that?" "oh its a thing I wear when playing a video games to manage my inventory more easily" generally sounds like women repellent.

All digital on X1 this gen so I won't be buying.

At least the fans that have always wanted this can finally have it so good for them :)

Well now this is interesting. EB Games Australia had the exclusive on the pip boy edition. However Gametraders have their own exclusive edition, with a replica laser pistol! Fighting the urge to buy both...
