initially enderal was a mod as well that later on got a standalone release , im hoping this gets a standalone release in the near future
Enderal still requires the base Skyrim game to play.

You might be thinking of Forgotten City which was a Skyrim mod that eventually became a standalone game.

I think their point was that you can get Enderal on Steam as a standalone app without a need of installing Skyrim

London devs mentioned on their Discord that they asked Bethesda for permission if they could release it in a similar way as Enderal, but they haven't got any answer from them

on GOG you need to own skyrim but installation aint necessarry , dont know how it works for steam
Yeah the Steam page says you need to own Skyrim so it's probably the same.

It goes to show how passionate real gamers are that they made a total conversion mod that's better than the original game. And it's free.

Based on what devs have said, Enderal and Nehrim were given greenlight for standalone apps back in the days when Bethesda had different people in charge who made these type of calls. Now the chain of command got extended to Microsoft and people who made these calls in the past are no longer there

That being said, Fallout London will be released on GOG (not as an exclusive, they just offered to act as a hosting page for file download, it's apparently 40 GB package), so who knows, there is a chance it may get a separate install thanks to their help as GOG team have easier contact to Bethesda
