That's actually a really, really cool idea. I've never thought of infiltrating as one of their own simply to kill them... Maybe that's why I've always had to kill so many people in past playthroughs...
obsidian canned half or more the people they hired for the game since they didn't get the review score bonus so yea, if bethesda didn't do anything about skyrim, you shouldn't expect much of a developer that got fucked over themselves.I'm getting some insane framerate issues on the PS3 version.
Saved those slaves in Cottonwood Cove and now the Old Mormon Fort is almost unplayable. Takes maybe five seconds just for a single frame. Hope that doesn't interfere with getting back ED-E, or allying with them later on.
You would think they would have fixed it a little over the years. I love the game, but the jank has made me just turn it off more than a few times.
One interesting build to try would explosives + melee. Have a melee weapon for backup, try to get access to the NCR Correctional Facility as early as possible. If you don't want to fight you can try playing a criminal minded character and get in through connections and dialogue checks. Do the Powder Gangers stuff to get as much stockpile of explosive weapons as possible. Play the rest of the game as a crazy fucker blowing everyone up.

It's one of my favorite games of the generation, but you should really get the PC version if you can.
That's a shame. I had the same issues while playing on PS3. The game was basically unplayable by the end, but I completed it anyway.I only have a Mac, so I have to make due.
;(
I like you dude, everything you say is the beautiful truthSo after renewing gaming as a hobby in the wake of a refreshing 1.5 year absence, I was looking through a thread on "games of the generation" to pick up on what I'd missed, and - perhaps this says more about me and mine preferences than it does about the game's reputation - I was really kinda shocked to see how few times FNV was mentioned.
To me, the incredible personality, wit, and depth balanced delicately between an open world and a scripted one (few games do this better, or at all) puts it easily in the echelon of my all-time favorites, and I don't have to think twice about comparing it. The third one doesn't compare, either - every aspect is subtly but definitely worse, in the way that you'd expect having Obsidian and the old Black Isle folk redesign a Bethesda concept of their own former work. Bugs are whatever for me- I was fortunate enough to rarely or never encounter them in my various playthroughs, though I suppose this varies by player.
Anyways, the catalyst for this all was my picking up a new copy of the GOTY edition and readying to dive back in with a new build. Hopefully my memories of the game have faded enough that it will be fresh now, having some distance from my "normal goody two shoes" and "cannibal legionnaire" playthroughs all those months ago.
Cannibal Legionnaire is one of the most fun ways to play. I love eating piles of victims.Hopefully my memories of the game have faded enough that it will be fresh now, having some distance from my "normal goody two shoes" and "cannibal legionnaire" playthroughs all those months ago.

i lost my save after i built my new pc. i guess i didnt understand how steam saves work and didnt copy the right file.
I was doing a shotgun specialist build. Now i want to try a pyromancer build. I understand the shiskebab is the defacto pyro weapon since it gains bonuses from all the pyro skills AND melee skills but, i was kind of hoping to stick to large guns.
anyone who has tried it can give me their experiences with such a build?
I only messed around a little bit with big guns, but I don't remember running out of ammo very often. The beginning of the game might be a bit of a problem.i mean in terms of ammo availability and mission specific issues.
Dead money is more story motivated. Finishing up Elijah's story was really rewarding and then back filling it through the other dlcs was fun, at least for me.Played though the Big MT DLC and really liked it. Got a strong Venture Brothers vibe off that one, but the combat got really weird. I have 100 stealth and the suit on, but people were able to see me clear as day, and a lot of my shots just weren't connecting. Still really like the Sink and finding all the personalities. And there were a lot of fun rewards for playing through it.
Now I'm in Dead Money and this might be the worst DLC I've ever played. I can't wait for this trash heap to be over. Poison clouds, enemies that only die when limbs are crippled (and also negate my stealth somehow), weak guns, annoying allies, very similar environments, and those fucking bomb collar tickers. The core concept is a neat idea but I just don't see how any of this could be considered fun. Are the rewards even worth it? Because I haven't found anything of value yet and I'm right at the tail end.
I understand each and every one of these complaints. Yet, on my second playthrough I noticed one thing that made me weirdly enough like these annoyances of Dead Money (except maybe the collar):Now I'm in Dead Money and this might be the worst DLC I've ever played. Right at the very end you'll find something really valuable, but otherwise no. That DLC wants to keep you scrounging for what little weaponry and healing items you can find. If you got too much good or valuable stuff before the end, it'd ruin that somewhat. Are the rewards even worth it? Because I haven't found anything of value yet and I'm right at the tail end.
I got lost on the way and cleared out vault 3 apart from motor runner that bumped my levels up. Is there better armor available than reinforced leather armor i'm at the point where you go met Caesar. Some new weapons wouldn't hurt either i'm currently using the laser RCW or Vance's smg.I've finally gotten passed the point where I usually stop playing NV. I'm currently only lvl 8 but I'm already at The Strip...is that too low at this point in the game? Pretty sure I've done most of the stuff on the way over here though. Last thing I did before this was the Helios quest line. Didn't see much else on the way over here.
I can't play this anymore.
When shooting is one of the main aspects of your game and its glitchy and controls terribly, I can't spend my time on it. I really wanted to play and like this game, because outside of the gunplay it seems great. Unfortunately they absolutely blew it when it comes to shooting...I don't think I've played a game with worse mechanics.
At least I only paid $2.50
that's kind of hyperbolic but yea, it's def not good
use vats if you don't like it or something?
AP does increase as you level up, have you got any companions yet? They do help in combat quite a bit.VATS is a crutch(a very mediocre one)...Especially when you're being outnumbered by enemies and you run low on it. Maybe you can build it up more throughout the game, but this is something I can't overlook to push me along.

I think the combat is tolerable enough but that's up to each, but I can assure you the rest of the game is worth the trouble. the writing, quest design, world-building and how they make your character skills matter is all best-in-class
well that's valid enough, as vats and combat in general is where the game is at its weakest. I personally just play it on real time and try to pretend I'm playing a shittier version of stalker but I'm not too picky so that's just me.Agreed there, 100%...Those aspects are completely nailed. The issue I can't get past is going into VATS, having 95% on someones head with a .357 magnum and when I shoot I just see a blood splatter come from their head. Yea their head gets blown off 1 or 2 shots later(with no VATS energy left) but that's the type of stuff I can't overlook when shooting is a main component of your game. Again, really unfortunate...but I can't overlook it.

Is it the bullet sponginess or lack of damage modelling that is bothering you?
Sponginess. The damage model is pretty neat when it works like it should! The way you can chop limbs with a cleaver or how they get blown apart with dynamite is actually quite cool in an old-school gaming way. The sponginess is the real problem and I stated what I mean by that above.
If there was a mod for realistic physics as far as how damage is dealt to regular people, I'd be golden. I don't wanna put the game down, but this issue forces my hand.
The JE Sawyer mod blows up FNV each time I try to run it now. I did a wipe/reinstall and still got the same results. Shame.
Is that the only mod you're using? Last I checked, you need to have all the DLC including the GRA and Courier's Pack and put it at the end of the load order.
Just started playing! The vanilla version on 360 as I do not have a gaming PC (sounds like I am missing a treat with the mods though). Just reached Primm now, so early in the game but already loving the humour e.g. The story of Vickie and Vance
The game was a bargain at £2 preowned. I think this will consume my upcoming 2 days off work
show off . Try project Nevada it unbalanced the base game with some of the gear, but the content added is great nice and big.I've recently got all achievements for New Vegas on 360 and I'm getting a gaming PC pretty soon. I already bought the game on Steam and I'm ready to do it all again and then some. Can't wait to run some mods.
Be careful some of the companion quests are a bit iffy to start as well. You ain't missing that much really, since the base game alone is so large.
What you're missing, though, are bugfixes. NV is one of the buggiest games around... be careful around that one trading post near Vegas itself.
And save often, in many save files!!!
You gonna flip out. JESawyer is a must for me after repeat playthroughs, it's made by one of the more famous developers.I've recently got all achievements for New Vegas on 360 and I'm getting a gaming PC pretty soon. I'd add too that DLC- as great as it is- definitely made my load times and general activity on 360 suffer. That was a long time ago, I think there's been revised 360s since then. But the additional content does raise the level cap to 35 which is pretty fucking unbalanced to a point, perks, and quests.... And they're all generally wonderful, Old World Blues being the best FOREVER!!!11You ain't missing that much really, since the base game alone is so large.

Is there a better way of getting mods than Nexus?
I'm not sure they are better but there are several sources of mods for fallout 3 and new vegas: one example. Is there a better way of getting mods than Nexus?
I'll check it out when I get my PC!
