Prime Video has renewed the hit video game series for a Season 3 ahead of the Season 2 premiere this December. Season 2 "will pick up in the aftermath of Season One's epic finale and take audiences along for a journey through the wasteland of the Mojave to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas." To date, more than 100 million viewers have watched Season 1, putting it in the top three Prime Video titles ever.

New Vegas? I'm in.

I hope this season 2 will be less uneven. I found the second half to be really not great, not to say bad.

Damn that's way sooner than I expected.

Not sure if that's enough time to have a Fallout 3 remaster ready.

In all honestly, despite some of its flaws, I actually really liked this show, being able to ape on the lore and create a new vault to tell a new story in the same world certainly helped instead of rehashing existing plots.

Fuck yea! This is an extremely rare video game adaptation that adds (story/worldbuilding) to what the game has already created, as opposed to being something almost as good as the game (such as the Last of Us show).

I know that some vocal fans were against it, but I hope they keep some of those oddball interactions, dialogue, and humor that were present in season 1.

Some of it (like the people Lucy encountered) even felt like the game's world RNG at work.

Other scenes literally felt like Lucy choosing a dialogue option. And this scene felt like a VATS moment:

It wouldn't be Fallout without those interactions and moments.

The fact that the show was renewed for a third season before season two even premiered says a lot about The Rings of Power. It took several weeks—or even months—before they officially confirmed a season three renewal back then.

That said, Fallout is doing quite well, despite the usual content mandates from platforms like Amazon and Netflix.

This is great news. I was afraid we'd be waiting more than a year like so many of these shows do. Or in some cases like Stranger Things, several years, sigh.

Precisely! And that's why it works and makes it a joy to watch.

I hope moments like this signal eventual good news for how these services greenlight shows.

Today's constant cycle of releasing a season, waiting for ratings after a year, then finally greenlighting another season after ratings are out, then that next season taking 2ish years to release (thus 3-4 years have already passed since the prior season) is ultimately unsustainable and severely destructive to TV shows as a whole.

It's one of the very, very few things I miss with old school television. They would simply take a chance on the next season before the current season-end ratings were fully out. Otherwise we would have waited over a decade for classics like Breaking Bad to finish.

Don't know if it being set in Vegas was announced previously or not but this is the first I've heard of it and I'm so in for it.

I quite enjoyed the first season, and I hope they do New Vegas justice.
