Fallout - Series Reviews

I gave this clip a fair shot I think. Am I missing something? Can a 9/10 piece of visual media have a clip like that in it? Perhaps it’s a deft spin on the modern condition. Subverting expectations and challenging viewers. Exploring the paradox of plutonic relationships in a post capitalism world. Daring the audience to look within, reflecting on their own dogma and accepting some hard truths.

The fem protagonist is just horny .

but the dude is kinda depressed because of some things that happend.

Is Todd that small or is he just far away? Looks like he's been photoshopped in. Also, why I'm I just learning he has a horse's hoof for a foot? Too many questions!!

Just binged it, I enjoyed it but it's not amazing or anything.

Ended up liking the main character I'd definitely have sex with her.

BOS soldiers are total derps, But Goggins steals the show it looks like Season 2 will only improve the series further.

Setting overall felt good but would be nice to see more post nuke environments in S2.

Watched the first three episodes last night and really enjoyed it. The BOS character is the least interesting character on the show - his Squire is more far more interesting - but I'm excited to see where everyone else goes, which is very rare in today's TV landscape. With that said, this is without a doubt Goggins' show - by far the best and most interesting character. Can't wait to watch some more.

Actually, at the very beginning of the second episode, all the enclave soldiers have laser rifles slung over their shoulders.
But did any of them work, because no one actually fired one in the whole series, and the Enclave should of won then, Brotherhood have lost all theirs lol, it seems a bit of an oversight to me, didn't Todd mention them

No, saw no energy weapons used in the show at all. Well, there were flame throwers...technically

Thanks for the heads up. Had a buddy texting me to give the show a chance but it sounds like I would bounce off hard.
There's a they/them too.

But I still want to watch it. I'm trying to convince my wife to watch it with me. But she just can't stop watching korean dramas.

Not surprised. It’s never just one thing.

Post impressions when you get around to watching it.

I’ve never played Fallout! But I’m huge scifi fan and love watching dystopian scifi.

Lucy and Ghoul are good. Maximus is dumb and so are the BoS.

Plot holes in first episode!
They apparently know about vault raiders, why didn’t they check the validity of vault 32 before inviting them over? No health check for the marriage? Why wasn’t there a radiation detector on door, because the wrist radiation detector works! How was their armory not protected

Episode 2 another dumb moment
Of course Maximus wasn’t going to die. The bandits could’ve just killed him but left him alive. He wakes up then during fight they pushed Maximus right on the opened armor suit that he use to win the fight
😂

This is supposedly be a dangerous above ground but it doesn’t seem to feel that dangerous. Maybe because we are following Lucy, she doesn’t have the urgency to feel endangered. People don’t like vault people but seem friendly to Lucy. It’s just so odd.

The production is good, but show feels uneven. How is everyone kept running into each other at opportunate times. Finished 4 episodes, I’m about bored but there is mystery that I want to continue watching.

Kick ass bros! The wait for season two will be unbearable.

I'm not even a fan of the games and I've been really enjoying the show. I do have some issues with it but it's still a good show

I usually skip most of the Movies/Shows that Hollywood puts out but this show has been great

Favorite characters are Dogmeat and Ghoul. It helps that Ghoul is played by one of my all time favorite actors

I do like the female lead. She wasn't annoying as I expected. And she's easy on the eyes too

As for the BOS guy, I'm fine with him. But he's the most boring one out of the cast

I had two certain issues with the first episode. Also the dialogue can be bad at times. Especially when it involves Lucy and Maximus

I have other issues with the show when it comes to the plot. But I can overlook that

Overall has some of the best sets for TV

I can tell the people working on this are fans

The CGI looks great too

I'm almost done with the show and only have to watch two more episodes

The only Fallout game I played was the third one and I hated it

Yeah, TLOU tried that oppressive vibe in their HBO show and it totally bombed with critics and viewers.
This comparison is laughable

It's almost as if TLOU was critically acclaimed for its story and characters, something that Fallout doesnt come nowhere near in terms of quality (Bethesda games as source material)

Bethesda Fallout games are at their best when they arent taking themselves seriously. Main story in Fallout 3 tried to be serious and sucked. Same for Fallout 4. But sidequests with goofy stories like the boy stuck in the fridge is where it excells.

So they are 100% right in going for the goofy vibes instead of a more serious tone

She wanted to watch the latest episode of 600 pound life. 🥲

I watched the first episode it with my wife, and she has declined watching future episodes. She liked the show ok, but the graphic violence is a no go for her. I do wish that in the future, these streaming channels offer an PG option of their shows where the gore can be cut out of the show without affecting with general flow of the show and allow a large audience to enjoy them.

My wife was hesitant to watch it because (surprise surprise) it's based on a videogame. One episode in and she likes it lol.

Same thing happened with The Last of Us as well 😂

Man, what's up with your guys wive's hating video game shows :messenger_tears_of_joy:

3 and NV are two of my all-time favorite games just from some epic moments. 4 was enjoyable but not as good as those imo. The show turned out a LOT better than I thought it would, but yeah it wasn't perfect, but perhaps the best tv show I've seen since Stranger Things.

Season two is setting up to be awesome, because it goes to
New Vegas
, so you should definitely play that game, it's the best of the bunch. I'm also hoping to see
deathclaws
and
Liberty Prime
in action.

Well after the first episode, its definitely Fallout. Not Rings of Power.

Keep this going! Episode 2 on deck tonight.
I think we're watching at the same pace. Just watched 2 tonight. I'm still really enjoying it. As of now, my ranking of modern video game shows:

  1. Castlevania
  2. Arcane
  3. Castlevania Nocturne
  4. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
  5. The Last of Us
  6. Twisted Metal
  7. Scarlet Nexus
  8. Dragon's Dogma
  9. Resident Evil
  10. Tekken: Bloodline
  11. Granblue
  12. Halo
So far to me it seems like Fallout might enter top 6, maybe top 5 if it maintains the quality of the first two episodes. I just hope they pull off the last few episodes. Also, I still need to watch:

  • Dota
  • Onimusha
  • Dragon Age
  • Nier Automata

okay, i've watched 4 episodes now, & the brotherhood of steel stuff I could've easily lived without. it's just clunky/awkward, & feels shoehorned in just for the sake of showing off the suit. otoh? i really enjoyed

the whole 'mr. handy organ donation shop' sequence...

I finished the series and thought it was an excellent adaptation with a better plot than Fallout 4. I felt that the wasteland wasn’t really apocalyptic enough but it carried over most of what was iconic Fallout with a lot of references and camp. Walton Goggins was a real highlight.

It also appears to be canon to the series in explaining both the backstory while also giving us the most current rundown of the various factions.

Walter Goggins as The Ghoul sold the show for me personally. I binge watched the entire show and was instantly hooked. Roll on season 2!

You must have had the same take aways playing the games the chicks who wrote this show did. I think plenty of people enjoyed the less wacky elements in Fallout. Did you really play 120 hours for just a couple jokes? I mean the zany stuff is in there, but it's pretty damn spread out.

I'm hearing about a chara with they\them pronouns?

How do you even know this? Does she\he say that or it's just info on his character page on the internet?

Like she\he legit tell people in the show to use they\them?

I didnt play it for the terrible main story, that's for sure. But pretty much everything else I loved about it, hence why I love F3 and I didnt like NV or 4.

I see your point, but I reckon it only worked as a game. As a series, Fallout setting is too absurd to be taken seriously. The Last of Us still has a foot in reality. Fallout is alternative universe 50's era with absurd technology and radioative monsters. Try telling a meaningful, serious story that will resonate with people in that setting.

They made the right call by making it recognize its own absurdity

Haven't finished the show, but there's a trans in episode 1, they don't really call attention to it, they just exist.

Watched 2 Episodes so far and to be fair enjoying it, The writing isn't the best and Maximus' character isn't developed or enjoyable at all.

Dont get the comparisons to TLOU show, while its excellent it wasn't an original story, all the source material and praise for amazing story was right there for them to adapt while this is something new in the FO Universe.

Hoping we get to see other vaults before the end of the season as that is something I always treasure playing FO games and seeing what sort of weird social experiment Vault-Tec setup.

On episode 3 and its pretty enjoyable
Not sure it's the 93% rotten tomatoes

Actually enjoyed Twisted Metal more of the two so far and that didn't really review well with critics

Hollywood is finally starting to crack the formula on games and movie adaptations though. It's going to be an absolute flood of them in the next decade as Hollywood l has tapped the well on comics

This is probably the best series i've seen in years. No woke politics, no agenda, just straight Fallout all the way down to the music, story and characters. Definitely a 10/10 so far for me as a Fallout fan since the first game.
