Next year it's almost sure Japan will rise again. This wasn't so bad year for software as it looks, the problem is there weren't the big hitters.
Sorry, since it isn't released here in Europe I thought it wasn't released. It came out.
That's sure, since it won't be another transition year, like 2011, where, as you said, the medium tier games did well (some of them VERY well, like Graces and Gundam Extreme Vs. ), but there were no main Pokemon, no main Dragon Quest, no 2D Mario.
Moreover, we already know a possible million seller for 2012: Mario Kart 7![]()
I don't think those are helpful because those systems were released in Nov/Dec. I posted PS2 and GBA because they were released closer to the 3DS in March, so their first year is very similar in length.Interesting. Do we have PSP numbers?
PS3 and Wii numbers also would help to consider 3DS and Vita context because they are more recent.
The numbers I posted are the sum of all software sold for each system. The numbers on Garaph (or pretty much any other site or database you see around) are the sum of data for each game gathered from weekly top 30, yearly top 100 and such other restricted top rankings. Not every single game appear inside these tops, thus the total sales is obviously higher than adding the sales we manage to collect publicly.PS: Why the PS2, GBA and 3DS numbers that appear in the bottom of the page isn't the same you post? They are the same, aren't they?
Xillia Mr. Comgnet ;P
And yes, 2012 will be better than 2011 software wise. Now, will 2012 reach 60 million?
Since this is only Vita's second week and we already had week one numbers for those, we can calculate the second week for those games. 17K, 15K, and 13K respectively. For those that don't live in Media Create threads. And additional info for those that do.

If it had released earlier in the year it might have had a chance. Through its second week the PS3 version was at 88K; the Top 100 goes through the game's third week.So wheres Skyrim?

I said wow. Games are 6 years old for crying out loud.
This got me to thinking it would be nice to look at the line of sales and more easily tell the years, so I did a little tweaking. Each of the vertical lines here is the start of a new year. It's always January 1, though, so the division isn't exactly what Famitsu would consider a year.Mpl90 said:It's even funnier when you know that Mario Kart DS actually increased by 40k compared to 2010.

I just checked Garpah and there's a mistake: The PSP YTD was added to the PS2 game.
Noticed the same thing when adding the "Top 3" lists from the first post, got it switched. But the #1 mistake I made in the Top 100 and didn't notice until setting up the above image, was that NSMB did not appear to have its new year end total. Where'd it go?Stumpokapow said:
That means PS2 will remain the king

Microsoft should really give up Japan. They don't seem to care for western games that much over there. Even a game like Uncharted 3 didn't chart better than 69th.
I personally think the Black Rock Shooter game was pretty bad, so I wouldn't call it a pleasant surprise. While Dark Souls proudly sold well in Japan, it is nice to see the Tales of franchise go back to its former glory and to witness an Imageepoch game break the 100k bar. Check dat LTD for Mario Sports Mix and Super Mario All-Stars.

Sony had a great year. Nintendo did too, but DS and Wii fell off like a rock.
Why is it that Sony systems hold longer than Nintendo systems? It's always been like this, I feel, even for Nintendo's successes like GBA and DS, their software just falls off a cliff once they announce a new system or release one....crazy

Ehh. Late first party support is pretty fine on both sides. They actually support their platforms... then again if supporting platforms mattered the Wii wouldn't have ever had a pulse.
