Fan Creates A Few Scenes From Ocarina of Time in Unreal O_O!!!!!!

Obviously the art style wouldn't there, but like a few of you have said, just use some imagination and it's clear Zelda could be amazing with these graphics. The raw lighting and particles are a spectacle. Sadly Nintendo seems intent on reinventing Zelda's art style with each installment, so the chances of us getting this are slim.

I want a Zelda with a dark aesthetic dammit. It doesn't need to be an edgy story or anything, but a sort of dark and grim aesthetic with a usual Zelda story would be a cool dissonance.

Better than most amateur recreations of classic video game stuff in UE4 since it's not "HERE IS MARIO RUNNING AROUND IN UNREAL 4 DEMO LEVELS WOW CAN YOU IMAGINE NEXT-GEN MARIO WOW"

Still highly unappealing. Level of detail is all over the place, Death Mountain Crater is especially bad.

I give it a C-.

Bunch of hard up nostalgia fans in here.

It's one thing to recognize that a professional team working with the tech could craft something that much better, it's quite another to call it ugly, just because it doesn't look the way your remember it, or because it looks similar to modern games.

Looks bloody fantastic, and I wish I could play through OOT with this quality of remake or better.

I mean, I get that its UE4 doing most of the heavy lifting, but it still requires some degree of decent artistic skill to process the environment and light it and retexture it to that level. Moreover, it really does objectively look better than a lot of recent games, despite the inconsistency in level of detail (mostly from maintaining the same geometry in the levels). Of course the animation doesn't match the fidelity, but hey, one guy, likely outside the scope of his skillset.

These videos are pretty ugly. Mixing low res ripped from the N64 models, with low res textures, plus high res textures and models from Unreal's demo leads to some ugly shit. Just putting fancy lighting and effects on N64 level geo doesn't do anything for me.
