You're just wrong. Furious 6 is an absolutely amazing action flick. One of the best of all time.

There are so many great moments that even the chick whose name I can't remember
goes off with a bang.

Especially since people will blame the phone as an easy out.

Nope no phone excuse just classic shoddy grammar skills. I asked my wife to read the post and she looked over the title and declared that whatever my stance was it was now a lost cause.

Pfffft what does she know

Stop taking Oxi Brazil you're high.

I don't watch F&F for the action scenes.

I watch it because it's about awesome bros doing bro things together with cars.

To me, the series is more 'Family & Fun' than 'Fast & Furious.'

I don't disagree with that opinion. I do feel that Five had a lot more 'fun' in it. I still liked Six, but it definitely felt less... cohesive. ( opinions)

This. This so hard and so much.

The thing about bros doing bros things is that they aren't really bros.

Why is Dom the leader? Has he ever shown any leadership? He barely speaks in Fast 6 yet somehow, all decisions are made by him. This may sound like I'm over analyzing but I'm really not, I want this movie to be about loyalty and friendship but besides using those words in the dialogue there's very little of it in the movie.

This is what I posted on my Facebook page after watching this mess of a movie:

Man, get this: the last action scene in the movie is 20 minutes long and it takes place on an airplane runway. This huge Boeing C-17 is being chased by these dumbasses in cars and has to takeoff to escape with the bad guy.... Now lets think about that for just a moment... The C17 only needs 3500 feet of runway to take off at a speed of roughly 120mph. Now assuming these guys were traveling at 120mph and this scene lasted 20min without the plane taking off or leaving the runway, then that means they traveled 40 miles!!! The longest runway on the planet is at Edwards Air Force Base and its only 7.48 miles long! They expect me to believe that there is military base with a runway that stretches nearly the distance of Rockwall, TX to Arlington, TX??!?! LOL!

Except the action in 5 is extremely well done. Over the top? Sure. Goofy cringe worthy cheese? Nah. All of the super jumps, throws, and punches killed it for me.
The action in 6 is also extremely well done. Five had the vault and cliff scene. Two of the most cheesy over the top(and awesome) scenes in the series. I mean, they ripped a freaking vault out of a police station with two cars.

The biggest difference is that 6's action has more fighting while five they did a lot from their cars. Funnily enough, 6 actually had a race scene that people seem to miss so much and yet they don't ever mention it when they're shitting on the movie.

You must be 2 years old.

But they were bad fight scenes. Vin and The Rocks fight in Fast Five was better than all the fights in 6 combined.

I mean, the flying head but? Really?

No it's not well done its bad and they rely on CG for the one interesting idea which is the tank flip. The race you mention doesn't get brought up because it's boring as hell. Nothing happens in that race it's just shoehorned in so they can say there was racing in a fast and furious movie. The only great action piece is when Paul Walker goes to ram the hummer and it moves out of the way for him to hit the ramp FI car. Everything else is bad Bollywood action.

I don't think that the people who actually go to the cinema to see each iteration of the movie is actually expecting an Oscar worthy movie. I actually enjoy the cheesiness of the story, and the chemistry between the characters is what actually makes the movie work. I just see them for what they are, fun movies that don't take themselves too seriously.

It was the best action movie of the year no doubt. But the year was full of trash like Star Trek and Man of Steel.

I think you kinda need to contextualize your opinion a bit. Which action movies did you like this year?

This year the only movies I would put up for action is:

Ninja 2 - Lordy the martial arts is spectacular
Bourne Legacy - Fight Scenes
Pacific Rim - Excellent Concepts and execution.
Drug War - Shoot out

Yup because I made the thread to that game before I played it I still hold it up as one of the greatest of all time. I never complain about the nonsensical plot, 30 min cutscenes or anything. Nope really upsets me when people attack MGS4. Kills me

Ninja 2? Very generic name, got a link to the one you liked?

What if people went with my initial thought and told you that Bruce Leroy is a doofus and Last Dragon was terrrrrrribble?

I haven't seen Fast 6 and Last Dragon is fun

No they weren't. The Vin/Rock combo vs Shaw/Muscle dude was an amazing fight and had the whole theatre clapping and cheering. Gina vs Michelle is also one of the best fight scenes.

Oh and yes, the flying head butt is fucking awesome.

What was bad about the Gina vs Michelle fight? or the fight between Sang, Tyrese and Shaw's crewmember? In fact, the plane fight was just all kinds of amazing.

Oh kind of like how the police race in 5 was shoehorned in? And please, it actually had plot relevance since they were searching for Letty and was a great race.

Uff

I haven't seen Drug War, but the others don't paint a good picture Bruce. Shadow of a Tear is terrible in every conceivable way. Bourne Legacy basically killed the franchise, and they had to hire the FF6 director to brig the franchise back from the dead. What a lame ass movie that was. Pacific Rim was terrible too, I don't know how Del Toro made such garbage. There's some cool action moments here and there, but man.

Honestly, that list doesn't really help you much. Full of stinkers playboy. Will watch Drug War though, is it like a chinese elite squad?

Wait wait I'm classifying these ratings based on individual elements:

Legacy is boring, Pacific Rim is fun, Ninja 2 is awful but makes me want to put ninja pants on and drug war is mediocre with a couple great shootouts. I thought this was a terrible year for action overall.

The last awesome action movie I saw was the Raid. I also like a lot of stuff in Dredd.

Gina vs Michelle was the best fight in the movie. I loved that whole sequence.

Terrible movie, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if fast 5 wasn't so good. The aircraft scene was insanely stupid.

Had never seen any of the Fast films before about November. Watched all 6 in 2 weeks. Loved it.

Yeah there are some stupid over the top moments, but it was great fun. They found a guy who made The Rock look small for fuck sake.

They should cast that big guy as the blonde Hulk/Niedermann in the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo sequels(if they ever get fucking made).

What if people went with my initial thought and told you that Bruce Leroy is a doofus and Last Dragon was terrrrrrribble?

I would type LOL in a post then walk away from my computer into my room and cry on my bed holding a large Shonuff pillow.

I can enjoy mindless action fluff but I agree, this was fucking godawful. And you nailed the Gina part, that was hilarious as I was watching it. For Faster and Furiouser 7 they should just reduce the entire script to facial expressions and grunts since no one on the cast can act for shit.

At least Metal Gear Solid 4 didn't try to take itself seriously. But it DID try to emulate real world physics. Which again puts it ahead of Fast 6.

Uh...MGS4 DID try to take itself seriously and it managed to destroy a great videogame series. FF6 knows what it is and rolls with it.

Was it really that different from the previous movies? I have seen them all except for 2 and 3 which I skipped (I just didn't have time to go to the movie theater when they were released and never got around to renting them) and they all felt like big dumb action movies to me... although I have to admit I barely remember them. I guess 6 did feel a bit more high-techy and over the top than usual, but I was still entertained in that "turn off my brain and enjoy the ride" kind of way.

How could you not love crazy over the top moments like this?

This looks hilarious in gif form. Especially Dom flying off the car before it even hits the rail.

I enjoyed Fast 6 but I'm not as high on it now as I was when I first watched it though. Definitely behind 1 and 5 for me. The "evil twin" villain set-up didn't work for me.

How do you hate on a movie that contains a flying head butt? If you know what to expect from this series then you'll find them more enjoyable.

Ugh first the Pacific Rim thread and now this shit? Quit sucking shit, GAF.
Banned for this post? Give me a break GAF. Preach it brother, keep fighting the good fight. THE TRUTH HAS TO PREVAIL

Pacific Rim and Fast 6 are probably my two favorite movies I went to see this year.
