Father Ted is the greatest Comedy of all time

Ask me which Shakespeare novel is best
Any other Ted fans here?
Seriously, every episode of the series is filled with comedic genius and gold. New Jack City is my personal favourite, mainly because of Father Stack -
"While you were out, I got the keys to your car and drove it into a big wall and if you don't like it, tough! I've had my fun, and that's all that matters."

Ted: His note from the bishop said they never really found a suitable place for him... he's not a very nice man, is he?
Dougal: God, Ted. I've never met anyone like him anywhere... who would he be like - Hitler or one of those mad fellas.
Ted: Oh, worse than Hitler. You wouldn't find Hitler playing jungle music at 3 o'clock in the morning.

The delivery of lines by the actors is just fantastic. It's honestly a crying shame Dermot Morgan passed away. R.I.P. :(
So, what are your guy's favourite episodes and characters?

Near / Far Away & Riverdance in the caravan are probably my favourite parts. Both the same episode I think.

Love it. Shame I'm on my phone otherwise I'd post a huge reply.

In terms of consistency - duds versus hits - I don't think it has many peers. In fact I can't think of anu duds!

You're damn fucking right it is. Such a consistent, perfect show. Also love that Mrs Doyle defies the convention of female characters being the least funny.

One of favourite comedies of all time, love the episode with the milkfloat it was a rip off from speed. For some reason though i always get a Father Ted vibe when i watch Mrs Browns Boys, and its not the accents.

Douchebag. Yes, me.
I've heard this show is great many times. I've since tried to watch it twice on US Netflix streaming... and for some reason, it only has episode 6 of season 1 available.

Is this some sort of bug or oversight by Netflix?

Would be in my top 10, but I hate Mrs Doyle so that keeps it from being higher up. Nevertheless there are some fantastic moments, none more than most scenes including Todd Unctios

The likes of Bottom, Blackadder, Peep Show, The Thick of It and The Inbetweeners place above it for me.

The farm takes up most of the day and at night I just like a cup of tea. I might not be able to devote myself to the old racism.

You spelled The IT Crowd wrong. But no seriously, I tried to watch some Father Ted after hearing its connections to IT and couldn't really get in to it :/ There is probably a better sitcom than IT Crowd as well but I can't think of one at the moment.

I love this show, and every character in it. Dougal is absolutely brilliant. Ok, well he's not brilliant, in fact he's quite dense, but the actor playing him did well.

Of all time? I mean, it's fucking brilliant.. but... hm. I dunno actually. Maybe.

*edit* God damnit this great: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYHagOveTQo

There's also the moment Dougle goes to walk out of the room from a side on camera angle, and he walks on the wrong side of the door... can't find a video, but it's so unexpected and funny.

Mrs Doyle: Won't you have some cake, Father? It's got cocaine in it. Oh no, hang on, it's not cocaine, is it. What do I mean now? - the little things... Raisins!

Lol yeah she is great.
What's your favourite then, Paris or Hippies?
The IT Crowd is my favorite by him. Never seen Hippies, any good?

Yep on 4od.

Love the show but its not quite the best. It's certainly up there though.

Inbetweeners and Peep Show (as much as I do like them) aren't fit to lace Teds shoes.

I went to the same school as the show's creator. Apparently Father Jack is almost entirely based on the priest who was his principal while he was there.

This scene was mentioned on WWE Raw of all places a few weeks ago.
