Favorite Character in SC3?

They didnt change her much at all from what I can tell, but thats probably for the best anyway:

Setsuka is a very close second.

Still there's nothing like fighting mitsu near last in Tale of Souls, cause its fun when the AI just murders you over and over and youre all mad but there's no outlet cause youre not winning and he just blocks everything and escapes every throw attempt so why dont you just break a controller :D

I do like the game, but one of my controllers is definately toast now.

I'm actually playing a few quick matches right now in fact. Just came on the forum to look up that infinite shop purchase exploit, which apparently doesn't work if you start chronicles from scratch(seems you gotta load a save). So I just blew 500k on art gallery stuff. :(

I haven't explored too many characters yet, I've always been a fan of Sophy/Cassie from way back(pretty much the only characters I've beaten Tales with so far), and I have yet to try the new blood. I got a kick out of learning Ivy in SC2, really enjoyed her unorthodox movelist. Siegfried as usual is the fall guy when I just want to murder the AI easilly.

Shame there isn't a 3rd costume option in this game, I'm finding many of the choices not so great.

Ivy. She's got range and nice grabbing moves. I also like Cassandra. Even though I never took time to learn her moves, I do pretty good. That uppercut she does w/ the shield kicks ass!

I've been trying to use Taki for sometime, but I need to learn to control those dashes and stuff she has.

i've mainly played mitsurugi and ivy (as i have since sc1). but i really want to learn setsuka. don't like her design, but her fighting style is unbelievably cool. so fast!

Pretty much everyone since I'm only playing the AI. My main character in COS was a thief using Dagger disipline, which I regret since she sucked. Should of waited till I had sword master.

I'm more interested in SC2 arcade. I've been playing it alot recently, trying to get into it and have something to play seriously besides T5. I'm focusing on Xianghua since she's good but simple and safe.

I wish X's 2P outfit in 3 was in arcade 2. And Voldo's 2P has to be one of the worst outfits in any fighting game.

I used Taki a LOT in Soul Blade(her wisp stage looked so awesome in that game BTW), but I abandoned her in the Calibur's. I think she hates me now.

Actually Soul Blade had a lot of really awesome stages, remember Siegfried's castle under siege? The final showdown on the rocking platform in Cervantes' pirate cove? Rock's teeny cliff with the tall grass? Wonderful!

I've been playing against my buddies concentrating on this group in this order:

1. Zasamel
2. Setsuka
3. Seigfried
4. Mitsurugi
5. Kilik
6. Raphael
7. Asataroth

So yeah, I don't really like the fast/short-range people all too much. I prefer the medium/big group. Setsuka is a little fast but she has tons of good pokes and can cover distance really well.

Speaking of which I hate that all the custom characters have the exact same BODY TYPE. Meaning they are all super-quick and light. :(

I mostly like playing my own characters, but out of the original characters, I say either Hwang or Maxi. The create-a-soul feature is beyond good though. Lots of good shit made.

what is she supposed to be though? The cheerleader dress, the prostitute FMBs and the laced cleavage top all combined with the sword and shield throws me off.

her second costume in SC3 is probably the best costume namco has ever done. Full on battle armor and battle robe. Its very cool looking. Her first costume is unfortunately the worst bit of fan service she's ever worn.

Her first costume is fitting, it's got that 80's cheesball fantasy serial thing going. I love it!

What the hell, no Maxi players?

I hate the way he looks, I love the way he moves.

My Maxi dominates the ZD offices... except a couple of guys have been stepping it up with Xianghua. She is scary good (although I hear she's been nerfed in SC3).

I also want to get good at Chester (thief) but it's quite difficult. Most of his really good moves are from while rising... but he's got a tiny little dagger so he's got no range. His bombs are easy to side step too. :P

Maxi? Grow some tits then we'll talk! ;)

Seriously though, does he still do that combo where he ends up twirling the nunchaku around his feet while practically breakdancing? Always loved that in the old games.

Don't have SC3 yet as they delayed the fucker over here in Europe.

But im sure my favorite character will be

sc2_mitsurugi.jpg

As always.

I'm a Xianghua guy myself but I really want to become good or proficient at Mitsurugi. I just don't get him. I don't understand his play style and his moves. Which are supposed to be his good moves?

I guess I can visit the soulcalibur.com forums for info on Mitsurugi but those forums are difficult to read because the posters speak in some kind of weird geek language with all kinds of acronyms and they go into all sorts of details which I just don't understand. I get a bloody headache trying to decipher what they're talking about.

Oh, and Setsuka is an awesome character but wtf is up with her second costume?

Yeah, in SC3 it's 8WR B+K and it's better than ever. :)

It used to be kind of a joke move, now it's a major part of my staple.

I've been a Xianghua player since Calibur I. However with SCIII, I've finally moved on to using more Cassie/Sophitia besides just Xianghua. Acutally, Sophitia is probably my best character so far, and yes, her 2nd costume is extremely classy.

Why is everyone ignoring the big slow players? :(
Zasamel is awesome and has tons of great mind games he can play.

Then again I bet I'm the only Zangeif user here as well :(

Can anyone who uses Mitsurugi a lot please give me an idea of how to play him effectively? What are his key moves? Is he good as a turtler or aggressor?

I don't play him a lot but I definitely think the insane damage he can do makes him better suited as an aggressor. It scares people from opening themselves up so they end up turtling and you can go to town.

b+K, B is a good move of his. It does a lot of damage and it is a nice juggle ender.

Sorry but what does the small "b" stand for? When you say "b+K", is it the equivalent of "B+K"? The only "b" I know of is actually the normal "B" pressed really quicly before the next button that is supposed to be input.

b as in back on the d-pad

It's back. Back+K, B.

That's an example of why the people at SC.com use the number pad system. 4BK is less confusing and easier to type.

Hmmm, I don't really like the number pad system though I'm used to reading SC moves like that due to the time spent on the soulcalibur.com forums. Anyway, thanks for the headsup.

Gonna go mess with Mitsu in training mode and see what he can do.

Cervy, as always. What's not to love?

Undead - check
Pirate - check
Sword + gun combo - check.

Not crazy about his design in SC3 though. Seriously, what's with that second costume.

A crappier version of his SC1 golden goose outfit, I guess.

Anyhow, Hwang still rocks and stands out even more now that Xianghua has seen some slightly crippling changes. But Voldo is just too damn useful not to try sometimes.

This game almost has too many characters. With 24 originals and 16+ variants of the styles there's more to learn than ever, and I've barely even started thanks to that damn CotS and unlocking stuff taking all my time. Most likely I'll stick to my Siegfried and Seong Mi-Na as usual (and my two CAS with their movesets) and learn one or two more. I like what I've played of Mitsurugi, Sophitia and Rock too... oh, can you tell that I'm a Soul Blade player originally? :)

They changed Cassie up too much for me to keep using her. I wasn't a huge fan of her character design, though, anyhow -- I only used her in SC2 because I started winning versus MAF with her, and stuck with it until I became quite proficient.

Now, I'm having a hard time picking a dedicated character. I started with Seung Mina, but she feels cheesy. Tried a bit of Mitsurugi, but he seemed kinda boring. I've switched to Zasalamel for now, but he feels a bit slow for my tastes. We'll see.

Astaroth, as always, is all about finesse, so he'll be my main sqeeze for a while.

Zasamel is pretty intriguing, but maybe I'm just digging the style of his moves (fakes and repeat hits and what not) and not really touching on the technique yet. Not really interested by the other new characters.

And Voldo is another favorite of mine. I haven't played him enough to see if there are any changes. Are there?

I saw the Owl guy in the new issue of Edge. <3 he rules

I don't have the game yet. I have a question though -- Can people still very nearly maim me by merely button mashing with characters like Maxi and Kilik?

Rock would have to be my favorite character in SC3. He is such a bad ass to use, and I'll be putting in a lot more time into playing him this weekend.

Yun-Seong, Kilik, Xianghua, Siegfried, Taki in that order for playing. I might try Zalaslamel (who's HELLA fast for a big character) and Setsuka soon.

Favorite character designs is kind of a toss-up (althoug my ninja is WAY cooler than Taki).

Taki has always been my favorite since Soul Edge/Blade. Although I'm really like Setsuka in SC3.

I've always been a Kilik fan. Sp he will likely be my main character. They added some good stuff to him judging by gameplay mvoies.
