Wu-Tang Clan's Ol' Dirty Bastard was "heavily involved" in "murder, car-jackings … and the sale of drugs [and] illegal guns", according to a newly released FBI report. The FBI's 93-page file on ODB, revealed in a Freedom of Information request, connects the rapper with a litany of serious crimes in the late 80s and 90s.

The documents were obtained by Rich Jones of the Gun.io blog, who filed a formal request for information on Russell Tyrone Jones, aka Ol' Dirty Bastard, who died of an accidental drug overdose in 2004. It took the FBI less than a week to respond with its file, consisting of redacted police reports, court proceedings and news clippings. All have been posted online.

Some gems include:

- "The WTC is heavily involved in the sale of drugs, illegal guns, weapons possession, murder, - carjacking and other types of violent crime." [p5]

- Connection to murder of Ishamael "Hoody" Kourma. [p13]
- A shoot-out with the NYPD. [p15]
- Arrest for felony possession of body armour. [p16]
- Connections to the Bloods Gang. [p17]
- Found in possession of large bags full of paper currency. [p40]
- Details of his being robbed and shot while staying in the Kingston projects. [p45]

I never took them (WTC) at anything less than their word.

Not surprised by the news.

Am surprised that possession of body armor is a felony though.

Furthermore, Wu-Tang Clan are portrayed as a criminal organisation, co-ordinating drug-deals and homicides – sometimes with musical rewards. "Once individuals have proved themselves as good and loyal members," officers claimed, "they are offered record contracts to record Rap type music."

In 2000, Wu-Tang Clan were apparently under investigation by NYPD's violent crimes/gangs squad, the US Attorney's office, a Staten Island detectives unit and the Richmond county district attorney.

uh...well damn...

Don't forget welfare fraud.

Him driving up in the limo to get his welfare check was an instant classic.

Second was asked a question on MTV by a caller if he would use his money to help poor black kids or something along that line and he just deadpanned

" Who me?... No"

Bloodborne is shit
Pours one out for Pooh, Boo Boo, and Hoody. You will be missed.

This is exactly why I'll never go by anything other than my birth name.

Nicknames are fine when you're alive but in death their use seems to trivialize your life.

Some guy from a magazine and Mase.

Mase? Mahahahaahaha What the fuck crawled up his ass to think he (a) had the right to talk shit on the clan, (b)had some type of gripe, (c) was dumb enough to think that was a good idea? lol

Seriously I can't even understand how Mase and Wu-Tang would interact. lol

You don't mess with the guys from the Shaolin Slums!

I wonder if Ghostface's FBI wrap sheet includes charges of throwing distinguished black fellows off airplanes and illegally injecting gorillas with the strength of 80 midgets

How can you have a felony possession of body armour?

Wouldnt that imply the body armour was illegal? Or just that he obtained it illegally?

If its the former I had no idea that would be illegal.

It's New York and I think it may have been NYC, welcome to the land of dumb laws involving being able to protect yourself...granted being a felony would complicate the issue. lol

The thing that actually shocks me the most is that it took the FBI less than a week to hand over a 93-page file after a Freedom of Info request. Half the time you have to go to court and get a judge to force the Feds to comply with a FOIA request.

I'm actually kind of giggling and imagining a scenario in my head where some FBI dude at a field office in New York staring at ODB's file for the last few years just hoping to get a FOIA. It'd probably take the post office more than a week to deliver a letter from New York and this guy got 93 pages in less than that.

Damn. I wonder if Wu Tang (and affiliates) are still involved in shit like this or if they only did that in the 80s or 90s. I'm not all that surprised. Usually you can tell when a rappers are walking the walk.
