Honestly I'm starting to wonder if this will cause some people to retroactively dismiss Comey's original harsh assessment of Clinton

This is most likely because Comey looked like a boot-licker for Obama and Clinton, as did Loretta Lynch for her brief chit-chat will Bill on the airport tarmac and the FBI is trying to save some face by 'gifting' a late non-scandal scandal for the GoPers to chew on.

I think it's more about Comey's reputation than any actual injustice by Hillary. But that's just me.

So, once again, itsfuckingnothing.gif.

Bizarre that Comey apparently HAS to make a vague-ass statement when the FBI explicitly does not operate in that way, but I'm pretty sure this is by design. This way anything at all gets spun into the biggest news of the day even when it's nothing.

Well, considering he walked back a lot of that assessment the very next day in Congress, it really should have never been given much weight to begin with.

this is so incredibly irresponsible on the part of literally everyone involved that I am now going to be depressed for the rest of the day

thanks world

that's nothing

i slapped a plate of chicken nuggets out of my mom's hands after i heard the news

and knocked over a magazine rack

Wow, as more details come to the surface it makes Comey's intentions and the irresponsibility of that letter even more ridiculous. The internal polling mush be a bloodbath to result to this.

I'm at work. Anyone wanna gimme the Cliff Notes?

It's basically just about Anthony Weiner, and about e-mails found on his device, they were never withheld from the FBI, and it's basically just, 'yeah, we're looking at something.' Not to mention that there's no indication that anyone really gives that much of a shit about the e-mail situation anymore, at least not to the point to significantly affect the election. Chicken Littles chick littled and played themselves into a tizzy about goddamn fucking nothing and think more headlines about e-mails is a guaranteed victory for Trump or some panic whore shit.

Though Comey's required to make some sort of statement, but surely a little more transparency would've saved us a 19+ page thread over what turned out to be nothing.

So even if it turns out it's nothing, the coverage it's getting is that it may be something big. Which is going to be what people focus on.

This close to the election, we can't afford the uninformed and undecided getting confused.

The FBI acquired a device that apparently had a handful emails on it related to the Clinton inquiry in some way or another. Likely Huma's phone or computer as it was acquired during investigation of the weiner Weiner. Comey thus has to amend what evidence was reviewed as a part of the Clinton inquiry, because this device is now relevant to that open inquiry even though he's already given testimony about what was reviewed previously. Congress must be informed that his testimony must be amended regarding the Clinton inquiry per the Department of Justice.

That's it. Nothing in these e-mails is going to prove to be new, but their sourcing will be, because apparently they didn't have access to this device previously and only gained it through a different investigation.

I'm not blaming Comey for this circus, but the media. In a span of five minutes, I got push notifications from the WSJ, NYT, WP all claiming the investigation had been REOPENED.

Nah, I was bored at work and nothing is happening in Canada - it was fun to see the Dems shit the bed and the secret GAF trumpers to come out of the wood work

It's amazing how behind the ball the classic news sites are when compared to social media... They are like 1 to 2 h behind in most cases.
Of course, there's also the need to verify sources, which social media generally doesn't bother with.

God damn it. We were so close guys. So close. Polls were already starting to tightening, despite Trump being a serial molester.

If there's another Trump video (like the rumored one where he drops the n-word), we need it right fucking now.

I see you edited. The polls are not tightening all that much, either, I want to add.

Anthony Weiner had three emails on his phone that were vaguely about Hillary's server. Comey was required to inform congress about this, and the GOP took the non-story and ran with it.

Turns out this story was nothing.

It was the media that ran with it. It was front page news on every media website.

I'd say HUMA COME GET YOUR MAN, but Huma already moved on from this dumpster.

Another reminder for people to go watch the documentary on Weiner. Dude is a joke.

So this is nothing, right?

I overslept so I didn't have time to read this entire thread before work, but I'm here now and I think I'm caught up. I was freaking out a little cause I thought it was an October Surprise.
