I don't think it was ever really about having the FCC take disciplinary action against Colbert. Rather it was about sending a message: I'm watching you. Don't f@ck with me!

By making an example out of Colbert, he's making others think twice about whether or not they really want to say something that could get the attention of 45.

Watch out everyone, if you don't watch your words he might do nothing at you!

I don't see how it made an example out of Colbert.

Donald didn't do shit. Some whiny right wingers stuffed the FCC complaint box, as they are known to do, and the FCC had to follow up. The story was massively overblown, by the folks on the left to make it into a story of government tyranny, and by the right so they could feel good about a liberal icon being investigated, despite it all literally being nothing.
Woosh

lol
Oh, oops? lol What did I miss? Guessing it's a reference to something?

If that's what he was aiming for, he sure missed. Not only did this amount to nothing, it just bolstered Colbert's ratings and gave him at least a night's worth of material.

Ooh baby, I know a few former friends who went deep into the trump kool-aid who'll be frothing at the mouth over this. Funny how they hate free-speech when it's against them, but that's basically the mark of the alt-right, hypocrisy.

Colbert is a golden treasure <3

The FCC looks into all of the complaints it gets. They followed their normal procedure with no intervention or encouragement from the white house.

This is bullshit.

There never was any kind of "investigation" into Colbert's cockholster comment. What happened was that the FCC received a large volume of complaints by viewers, and they followed their preexisting procedure for processing those complaints. Specifically, by examining Colbert's remarks to determine if they contained any material considered sanctionable by established FCC rules.

It's The Hill that blew that up with "FCC investigating Colbert", in such a way that implied retaliation. It was false and clickbait. And then other outlets cited The Hill.

And this is coming from a guy who hates what the Trump FCC is threatening to do with Net Neutrality.

Literally the only reason was because there were so many complaints and the right tried to blow it up into something bigger than it was. They had to say they were looking into it to get people to stop sending in the complaints. It was really just a "Ok, we heard you, we're doing our job and we'll look at it, stop submitting the same complaint thanks"

This was inevitable as fuck. The thing was even censored. Still fun to watch the Nazi snowflakes have a fucking meltdown over it just to get "cucked" by the FCC.

Even though the complaints weren't filed by Captain Cockholster I can totally imagine he called the FCC himself multiple times posing as random citizens.
