FFVII: AC is "out"..

So this movie has got me interested in FFVII the game. I want to get the PC version but I'll be damned if I can find a place that sells it online. I tried to procure it through 'other means' but couldn't find the right 'utilities' to use it so now I’m forced to get it through more legitimate channels. :/

Anyone know of an online store that still sells this relic of a game?

Impossible! I refuse to believe such things are so prevalent!

Ebay would be your best bet, I have a Sealed copy that's never going to be opened :D bought it for 9.99$ at my local EB 2 years back. As for running the PC version, it's BUGGY AS HELL! a lot of glitches, may not be compatible with a lot of newer hardware. If you want the best FFVII experience get a PSX and the game itself, shouldn't cost you more then 40$USD.

i don't have a playstation, or a playstation 2. I might get a PS3 in the distant future, but would such old PSX games even run on the PS3?

What about buying the PSX version of FFVII and then using a PSX emulator on my PC? That's not illegal is it, if I actually buy the game?

It's the most popular PSone game ever, I think it'll run fine.

I guess you're the 1% !

I don't particularly want to wait so long for PS3 though, heh. not sure if this is against TOS, but can anyone recommend a good PSX emulator? AFAIK linking to the ripped games is against TOS but an emulator is okay...? hopefully EB has a new or used copy sitting in a corner somewhere.

that would be .1%

And the PS3 is supposed to have BC with both PS1/PS2 games. As for emulators there's TONs out there, I couldn't recommend any as I don't use them but google it and I'm sure you'll find something.

oh, and while hard to see, Cid still has his funky run
(as he's running towards the fight after dropping in on Tifa)

I work for an EB and we always have the game in stock new. It sells out, then a few days later it shows back up again. It is 14.99. We also have the PC version in stock used, in quite good shape too(the discs at least). Surprised it hasnt sold yet actually...

you in australia?

I can't believe I watched a whole movie in Japanese with no subs. Not bad though. This is what FF:TSW should have been. Fucking Square Hawaii. PEACE.

and wtf is with his eyes? there's something not right about them.

Isn't that something to do with Mako that makes his eyes glow? I forget the exact explanation on that, something to do with the experiments or something.

AFAIK it's pretty difficult to get it to run under XP. Some of the less legitimate releases come bundled with compatibility tools though.

Didn't Tseng die in FF7 towards the end oif the first disk?

I think we covered that, but basically apparently not. I've never played it, but someone said in the better translated PC version (the PS version was not well translated), Elena changes something like "You'll pay for messin' up our boss" from the PS version where she says "You'll pay for doin' in our boss."

Eh, I'm a bit dissapointed. The fights and effects were TOTAL badass and I guess that makes it worth it but there was very little character development. Besides Cloud and some others, the rest of the cast just seemed to be token characters.

A VERY good popcorn flick but a plot/character interaction guy like me is left wanting a bit. It should have been an rpg >_<

I do think it'd do pretty good over here cos there is so much action...

PS: For guys having trouble playing it, just get the .MKV file and use VLC player with subs turned on.

Just watched it a second time, fansubbed. I've come to this conclusion: Watching Advent Children is like watching a porno -- try and watch it all at once and you're left feeling bored and unfulfilled. Pick a scene at a time, and well.... you know.

that's kindoff how i felt watching it a second time.

Damn Square for not releasing this simultaneously worldwide like they said they would.

I really liked how they went back and re-did some cutscenes from FF7. For the conspiracy theorists, tell me that doesn't give more credence to an FF7 remake. I agree with whoever said it earlier in the thread, but after seeing this I want a sequel of some sorts rather than a remake. That's a tall order for the cock-teasing SE, but I still want it nonetheless.

My 2cents: Incredible action (final fight is awesome), great CG and music. Character development was lacking for something that's 1hr 30mins, but as long as you come to grips with it being like a bigger, better ending to FF7 it works really well.

Oh, and Tifa is hot, but cute....and hot.

yeah and they replace important WinXP files with "unknown" or older versions of those files. Got a warning telling me to insert the WinXP CD so it could restore the more up to date files again, but I couldn't be bothered looking for the CD. Luckily system restore seemed to do the job. I've given up on the less legitimate versions. More trouble than they're worth.

better than FF:Spirits Within anyway..

not very much in character development, but still fun to watch

actually it was kind of like a long CG square-intro the whole movie

I still don't REALLY know wtf Geostigma was. I mean, they sort of "explain" it, but it really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. :D

Regardless, this was almost exactly what I thought it would be. Super crazy awesome CG fun time. Stupid/incoherent/nonexistent "plot."

Fine with me.

re:Tseng

From a plot FAQ on GameFaqs that I've been brushing up on...

When they arrive they find more clones lurching around the place. Aeris and
Cloud get inside and find Tseng lying wounded. He has been injured by
Sephiroth and is rambling about how the Promised Land is not what Rufus and the
others think it will be, he hands the Keystone to Cloud. He then falls
unconscious.

So uh, guess he just got stabbed but not killed.

edit - I guess Elena blames Cloud's group for his death later, so it's probably a translation thing.

I thought Tseng was compressed with the ancient temple into the black materia, but the case is that when everybody but 1st caith sith got out, they doesn't take tseng with them, so we can assume tseng was alredy away, or compressed :lol

after a couple more watchings, nostalgia simply took over for me and I'm just in love with the movie...sigh..no love for the ending sequence theme? "Cloud smiles" and the ending credits, I thought they were great, especially the arranged main theme in the credits...sounded like a james horner number. FFVII:AC DVD and OST get!

i can't wait for the inevitable FFVII remake on PS3. if the graphics really do match what square did in that PS3 tech demo, 'you will say "wow".'

In regards to Tseng, I Just played past that part yesterday actually. He hands over the Keystone and then moves aside and sits down, twitching as he sits. If you run up to him he says "I'm still alive" so it's safe to say he probably made it out.

I just finished watching. Really liked it.

Square created something they should be proud of and I hope the movie is a success.

Yeah, but later Elena yells at Cloud for "doing in" Tseng and he never appears again.

One thing of note I don't think anyone brought up.

When Kadaj retreived Jenova's "head" and first opened the container, he seemed distraught, rather than happy that he finally recieved the thing thats most instrumental in their plot. Why is this? If you look, when Kadaj absorbs the peice of Jenova it doesn't resemble her head at all, look smore like her heart. Why would Rufus part with the actual head so easily? Also Kadaj states "This is MY reunion" implying that this isn't THE reunion which requires Jenova's head to happen. Also, Sephiroth seems all to nonchulant to just have been defeated and he states "I will not be just a memory". All this tells me that Jenova's head is out there somewhere and Seph knows this. I think we have the backdrop for A sequel to Advent Children or a FF VII-2 right there.

But who knows, maybe I'm just a long time Square fanboy, hoping the FFVII franchise isn't finished.

WOW again ... good does not describe this movie amazing is more fitting, i believe this is the best full CGI film i have seen since monsters inc.

Edit: Also i would like to see a FFVIII spin off movie this movie was just so perfect i almost shed a tear at the ending!

Movie rocks but the pacing is indeed quite bad. Fight scenes are just amazing.

What I would have liked to see was more use of materia. It would have been nice to see Cloud cast Ultima......

This is probably the best description of the movie that I've seen so far. As good as it was to see the FFVII gang fighting together once again, the movie was unsatisfying as a whole. Some of the individual fight scenes are very nice, and it was beautifully rendered, but it just didn't have enough content to justify rewatching the entire movie.

Easily the best Video Game inspired movie ever created, and its up there as far as CG films go as well. I would people who aren't so high on it to wait for the U.S. released with ful dubbing(and probably some extra scenes) before you base FINAL judgements on the film. I mean fan subs created in what, 24 hours can take away from the film.

I had a short explanation earlier in the thread but here goes again =P.

It's explained that the lifestream governs all life and it flows through each and every creature. As a result of this, the lifestream acts like the immune system to keep the body healthy and natural except it works against harmful and foreign substances that aren't naturally occuring, i.e. Jenova Cells. Geostigma is the result of the lifestream trying to purge the body of these cells and the scars and abrasions on the body are the physical manifestation of this treatment.

When the body has these abrasions, it means they're still in the combatative phase of trying to purge the body and will remain as long as the human is infected. As you see what Kadaj does in Ajit, he introduces more Jenova cells (at least I assume as much) to the Children by polluting the water and having them drink and bathe themselves in it causing them to become more like them. Towards the end of the move, you see the water that comes out of the church which cures the abrasions and actually hurts Kadaj. It's merely water that has had a higher content of lifestream energy similar to what Kadaj did to the water in Ajit.

Mind you, all of this stuff you can figure out from the film. It's not like I'm pulling it out of my ass. =p

But...... it isn't! Square Enix has 2 more games at least lined for up hardcore FFVII fanboys who just want to keep paying for trash! :lol

First, I have no interest in the Final Fantasy games, story, or universe. I did really enjoy this movie though. I loved the fight/action scenes, the dialogue confused the hell out of me, and the CGI looked amazing.

And what's up with all the dudes looking like women?

Welcome to the world of Final Fantasy!

I just don't get why they do this. The only two guys that looked like guys in the whole movie were two of the coolest looking characters, the black dude, and the bald head, sunglass wearing white guy. Cloud did look really cool though, and those swords he had were bonkers.

This was on penny-arcade.com, found it funny. :)

It should have a warning of some kind on it, when it hits retail. Something like:

Fanboy Warning

This film contains scenes that may be totally fucking awesome. Your favorite characters may be rendered in extreme detail as they take part in mind-blowing battles set in familiar locales. Futuristic scabbard/motorcycles might be depicted in a way that makes them appear sweet.
