FFVII: AC is "out"..

Hmm, based on what I've read here and elsewhere, the movie isn't what it's cracked up to be.

We can only hope for a good FF7 remake, prequel or sequel (and this would be a GAME, thank you). This FF7 fan does not have low standards. :)

So Last Order is an official entry in the FFVII world, then?

Yes, it fits in perfectly with FFVII's already established storyline before AC is really included in the mix. It deals with the character Zack plus Cloud's home town massacre by Sephiroth.

I haven't run into a single person who didn't enjoy Advent Children. Not sure about the sites you're looking at but AC freaken rocked imo. :)

Well finally saw Advent Children (still waiting on Last Order) and i have to admit i'm totally impressed. No it wasn't the deepest movie in the world and it was lacking in plot, but if you think of it as a "100 min cg cutscene" it was nothing short of f'ing amazing. Many of the fight scenes easily made it into my top 20 non-martial arts scenes of all time. Glad i kept myself totally in the dark and spoiler-free before watching it, it was worth the wait.

I have to admit i was pretty indifferent to a FFVII remake for PS3 but i couldn't help thinking throughout the whole movie how much a remake that looked vaguely like the movie would kick ass. I'm officially on board now heh.

I'll probably be picking up the DVD when it hits stateside depending on what features etc. square packs in, hoping at the very least they have a JP audio track and English subs. Was pretty surprised that only Marlene's VA had done any anime work.

This movie has an awesome soundtrack, by the way! I am looking forward to buying this movie when it comes to the US, despite all of the negative feedback. FF7 is what got me back into gaming, so it only makes sense that I watch this. Even if it does end up sucking. :p

edit: I forgot to put emphasis on how much ONE WINGED ANGEL rocks. Holy crap. Amazing.

There isn't as much negative feedback as you think.

Fucking great OST though.

This is just about the version they had at the More Friends concert at E3 (minus the lyrics that sound different), and yes, it fucking rocked. A lot :D

W00tz, bump. I finally checked out the movie today. Pretty awesome action scenes...but what's up with the plot? I think they forgot to write something coherent. :P Maybe Nomura was right, and AC's fights should've been left as being seperate "vignettes". The mishmash that resulted in joining them together can barely be called a story. I liked it for what it was, though...but the more I think about the plot that more annoyed I get and the less I like the "film". :P

Much more entertaning than TSW, that's for sure.

Just saw it too. I dont really get what some people have said about the movie tho. It seems like AC puts more of an end to the Aeris saga than to Sephiroth. He said that he wouldnt become a mere memory. I just dont see any way that he couldnt resurface in some form or another in the future

Question concerning the OST. The Opening... it doensn't play in the movie at all, at least, not in the version I have. Is it the version that was in the PS3 demo? Was it in the full version of the movie?

Watched Advent Children again last night. It's much better the second time, and the story soothes you in better. I don't mind the action now, excellent movie. There is plenty of plot, it's just not the way you expect it, and many fights are actually internal conflict as opposed to external. I'm upping my rating to 9/10.
I agree completely. The second time I watched it was way better than the first. The second time through I was able to catch all the little story details I missed the first time, and was able to follow the action seens easier. (admittedly, the first time through I was thrown off guard by the super-unrealistic battle sequences --
that tifa battle was pretty weird the first time, but so awesome the second time.
)

Seriously, I couldn't have hoped for anything better than this -- it was truely amazing.

I think there was some definite significance to Square repeating the ending to FF7.
I don't think so. It seemed like just a transitional part between the end of FF7 and the beginning of AC -- intended to draw the FF7 fan in.

i saw a bit of this in Aki , it was the fight between Seph and Cloud...

is the editting this bad through out the film? it was a bit messy to say the least.

Loved the movie, loved the remixed tracks.... I will buy the US DVD and UMD versions... I am AC's bitch.

Wow. People still discussing about this movie. In short, "straight to video." That should tell you how good it is. :)

Im not totally against a FF7 remake anymore. Or at least a future FF inspired by FF7/FF7:AC

So straight to video is a dead end business for bad movies right?

Who Needs Theaters, Anyway?
The major movie studios are stepping up their production of movies intended to go directly to the home video market, Home Media Retailing reported Monday. Universal Studios Home Entertainment president Craig Kornblau told the publication, "We have a $24 billion business that consumers absolutely love ... and yet there is very little content made only for this business." Many of the new features being produced for DVD release are being described as "franchises" -- essentially sequels to successful films. Last week, Universal launched "Universal DVD Originals" with Carlito's Way: Rise to Power, a sequel to 1993's Carlito's Way. On Dec. 27, the studio will release the DVD sequel American Pie: Band Camp, starring Eugene Levy. Sony plans to release Single White Female 2: The Psycho on Oct. 25 and 8MM2 on Nov. 22. New Line is planning sequels to 1994's 8 Seconds and last year's The Butterfly Effect. And Paramount Home Entertainment President Meagan Burrows told the publication that the studio is "in the process of developing a new [DVD] comedy label."

Looks like the labels disagree.... as do I.

How many sequels that go "straight to video" are good as original? Most of them are lower budget craps trying to make money off name from previous one.

It's not just sequels there's always been a decent string of B-movies... Don the Dragon Wilson says hi! it's just before they went straight to VHS and the only reason you knew about them was if you wandered around your local blockbuster.... Steven Seagal for instances has done a shitload of CRAPPY direct to DVD movies... but I'll be damned if a few of them haven't been that bad... Van Damme? That f*cker is useless...well Wake of Death is ok... but that's not a MA flick...

It's definately a bit hard to catch everything first time watching it. Maybe they should have slowed down the pace of the movie just a little bit. On the other hand, it does make 2nd or 3rd or 4th or 5th... viewings quite exciting still imo, as you tend to notice more and more subtle things.

Direct to Video series (OVAs or OAVs) in Japan are damn good most of the time. In fact, a lot of them are better than movies. You really shouldn't group Japanese Direct to Video productions with American Direct to Video productions. They're entirely different things

Tekkaman Blade II!!!!!

I just watched this at my friends house. Other than the CG this movie is really really bad. Its barely passable as fanservice for FF7 and it most definitly doesnt stand on its own. Its sad because this thing had so much potential and they flushed it right down the toilet.
