The guy's kidding, right? FFX was gorgeous and it follows that FFXII will at least match that graphical quality.
just did a quick search and came up with an old post of Duckroll'sScott said:Whoops, I didn't see this edit.
From the impressions I read from the Square Enix Party, it sounds like they're set with a certain weapon type. Even IGN comments on it (from the same article I linked above):...but for all I know, that may only apply to the demo.
If you've seen any info on being able to use different kinds of weapons, though, go ahead and a throw a link my way, because I totally missed it.
Well, I guess I'll take his word for it. Thanks for digging that up.Wakune said:just did a quick search and came up with an old post of Duckroll's

The in-game stuff really does look terrible and VERY low poly.

Of course huge areas with tons of enemies + your three characters are gonna look a bit worse than cutscenes with a few characters in a tiny environment.
Oli, the game looks awesome. Trust me, I've played all 3-4 hours of the E3 2004 demo, and the 30min sections of the Square-Enix 2005 demo. The textures in the game (especially on the characters) blows away any other rpg to date and the animation even for the enemies is better than pretty much anything to date in an rpg. FFXII is the real deal and we only have 6 months until it's in some of our hands![]()

It's not going this route due to fan outcry, complaints, declining sales, to clone KotOR, or whatever other reason people like to make up for it. Instead, it's going this direction simply because Matsuno wanted to make a single-player game that utilized a lot of MMO aspects, such as the encounter/aggro systems, the psuedo-real-time combat, etc. He's said as much himself.
Is it too much to ask if you can give us some er.. obsessively detailed impressions?Bebpo said:You do know that the levels are huge and have zero loading right? And that all the enemies are present on the map while walking around?

Yeah, but it's not so bad, as there's more than enough to play in the meantime.Mrbob said:Wait, you have six months. We probably have a year. :/

That's why I never understood the actual hate people got towards companies for delays. I'm juggling a huge backlog as it is, and one less game out of the Fall/Winter rush of wallet-raping isn't going to piss me off. If anything, it just makes me more relieved. It's more money in my pocket, and more time to spend on other games... Where's the bad here?
Unless you only play this one series, just get over it and play something else for now. Games are about fun, not sitting on a message board sending hate rays towards <insert company here> for a delay. Well, that's what I'm told, at least.![]()
Well, I meant in general.Mrbob said:You think this is a hate ray? That's nothing.![]()

Also: can you share some info on weapons? Will characters be able to use only the type of waeapons they are designed for or is there a weapon proficiency system in place?
TheJollyCorner said:This game just seems so far away...
it has for the past 4 years.
...and for god sake... please show some new locations/characters/etc. @ TGS!
At one point somebody (maybe Matsuno or Itou) said this would have the largest cast in any FF game- dunno if that meant playable characters or not, but it's starting to feel like FFXII only takes place in one set of locations (a city, a beach, an underground dungeon, and a forest) and we've been seeing the same 5 characters for years.
I'd say my patience is wearing thin... but after delay #2362182, it's really not bad anymore.
Red Scarlet said:Hmm..not really digging the battle system (I shouldn't have peeked at topic). But at least bebpo and some others can blab about the game while we play in March.
