if it plays anything like round 2 it is pure garbage regardless. nice poly count tho :)
I can understand the EA hate but this is one of the few IP's they actually get right. If they fix the myrid of glitches and clipping from Round 2 then this game should be great. I'd love if they included a true career mode where you choose your manager, negotiate contracts and build a reputation on how well you do in the ring. Imagine being more popular than Ali or more badass than Tyson which affects how well you draw crowds. Choosing to talk shit or start pre-fight brawls and running the risk of loosing your boxing license. Sadly they are probably satisfied with a new coat of hi-def graphics.

I'm gonna have to call bullshit. They're really good, but you can still see some imperfections, especially around the elbow and the upper arms.

Has there been any new footage since those clips on MTV's game site? The game looks fantastic in screenshots, but looking at it in motion, it didn't look too much better than Round 2.

I like how you can switch to southpaw in the middle of the match. Any other significant changes they've made to the game's controls? All I ever really hear about Round 3 is the career mode, and the fact that there's no more HUD.

It's going to be really nice when people find out that all the effort is producing games with less gameplay than just recording videos that are played when the player hits a certain button.

(rock-'em sock-'em robots ftw)

The 3 millions polys likely refers to the normal maps used instead of the main model so you will notice slight imperfections.

More polys = more things for them to get wrong in animation :D

It looks impressive in still images but I'll reserve judgement until I see it running

The game was pure garbage. The reason was the STUPID haymaker system. Im all for total punch control, but when you enable a system where everyone just keeps throwing the same two punches over and over again, it becomes retarded. The gameplay in round one >>>>>>>>> round 2.

All it would take to fix that is a proper stamina hit and a larger counterpunch window.

FN3 looks fucking HOT but not 3M polys HOT. It's either per second or pre-normalmapping in 3DS.

3M model gives you a perfect looking human with individual boogers modelled inside his nostrils.

Fight Night is the most fun I've had with a "real" sports game since Super Tecmo Bowl. I hate to say it but.......good job EA.

I so want this on Revolution. It would be the first boxing game I bought since Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. Two revmotes for two fisted action would be ideal.

:lol :lol :lol
That video is just horrible. The graphics are superb, but that animation looks terrible and doesn't come anywhere close to representing what a fight looks like.

:(

I'll believe this when I see it. As in the game is actually released. Have you people learned nothing from EA? Fight Night is one of the only titles left from EA I like.

You cant be serious. The animations looked great. Its never going to look exactly like a real fight because its a videogame. Players need to have a certian ammount of control you know.

edit: that's racist :D

Sorry. That isn't what I consider "fluid" animation. It was stiff and robotic.

I think it animates quite well actually, definetely a couple of steps up from current gen boxing games. I think we'll have to wait a couple of years for more realistic looking animation (if not for the generation after the 360).

Some people here think that the PS3 will be much better for animation, I don't agree.

Just for reference Oli called the masters of movie wuxia fights, Jet Li and Donny Yen, face off in Hero was't good compared to the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon with Zhang Ziyi and the like who aren't martial artists by the way.

Hero is cheesy beyond belief. Kung Fu Hustle had more inspired artistry.

New Developer intervirew (video) And gameplay video.
Looking at it from there, the animation really isn't that bad at all. It's just the way they're playing I guess; not using much footwork. When they actually move around, parry 'n' such, it looks pretty natural.

[EDIT] - Oh, and now I think it looks much better than Round 2. ;)

Has there been any mention of saving replays of matches?

It doesn't matter how many polys each fighter is composed of if the player likeness is off. I thought FN2 did a decent job, but Roy Jones Jr. looked nothing like he does in real life. The game was definitely flawed, but it was a blast to play with friends. For those complaining about the haymaker system: if you get used to parrying, throwing endless haymakers is extremely dangerous and will get you one-punched. You will also suffer in long matches since by round five or six you'll be out of stamina.

I'm with oli on the animation issue. There's got to be more fluidity and momentum to the punches in the next-gen version.
