Interview

This year, we can even do the classic Ali Rope-A-Dope where you're leaning your body back side-to-side while blocking incoming punches. We completely revamped movement so you can move all of these things at the same time. You can punch on the move, which really helps tactics because you can stick and move, and of course blocking, because the last thing you want to do while blocking is remain stationary. Just being able to block and move, punch and move, lean away from a punch, it all just adds so much to the gameplay.

We also have a great new mini-game, the EA Sports Cut Man. So now, in between rounds you're actually able to take control of the cut man and try to reduce the swelling of your boxer's eyes or healing cuts. You're really able to manage your boxer's damage. We've also added some of the more realistic rules to the fights like TKO's and fights getting stopped by damage. All of that is in the game now, because you really need to work on your boxer's face or you might get a TKO. The swelling and cuts around your eyes will impair your defense a bunch, so not only is it a cool mini-game, but it actually comes into affect the gameplay.

It's a button press into a clinch. When you're moving in to do a clinch, it's easier to get hit, but you can do a defensive move, step in and wrap the guy up. If you get close and grab him, the person doing the clinch will get more health and energy, so you can take a more defensive attitude toward the fight. This way, if you're fighting someone who likes to throw a lot of punches early on, his energy will go down while he's throwing the punches, and I'll be sucking up even more energy by clinching.

Kudo Tsunoda: Just to let you know, I was the design genius to put video DJ Big Tigger in our authentic boxing game last year. [laughs] The feedback was not overwhelming positive on that, for sure. We went out and got Joe Tessitore, who does the boxing commentary on ESPN and also does Fox fights, so it's back to authentic commentary this year and no more Hip-Hop DJ. That was all me. [laughs]

:lol :lol

Kudo Tsunoda: The biggest change is that we have Xbox Live this year as well. Out of all the sports games, this is the one perfectly setup for online play and I thought it was a shame that Xbox users couldn't play online last year. There will be ranking systems for every eight class and there will be rankings for every weight class online. But we've also got an open division where you can fight at any time. This way, if you want to try to work your way up the ranks, you can do that, but if you want to just step in with a middleweight and see if you can beat Ali, you can do that too.

HELL YEAH!!!
Thanks man this is actually my game of the year I logged more hours into fight night than any other game.
I'm talking offline I just got online I got to get my disk back from my friend me and you can have a go, be warned i'm invinceable.

This is a day one purchase!

Holy shit, that's where Kudo wound up?

He was one of the only halfway talented design-type people to ever work for 3DO. Nice to see he gets to work for a real company now.

DFS.

If they can pull off what they're hyping up right now, then this instantly jumped to my most anticipated game. I really really disliked the first fight night for the very fact that you couldn't do anything and move at the same time which is absolutely ridiculous. Very interested to see how they implemented that dynamic.

I think they will pull this off. I felt the first fight night's controls were intuitive.
They really seem to be nailing my complaits.
Stopping fights due to damage which I hate but it's part of the sport.
I'm also pleased to see that there is clinching as well as controlling the power level of your punches.
I am just dissapointed that they only added 8 new pugilists.
I really want to see Tyson in a fight night game EA definatly has the bank and codemasters license should of dropped.

OMG i haven't been excited for a game in a long time, since HALO 2 was first annouced and now this game is really getting the juices flowing!

DCX

Wow!

Improvements all 'round! Are you sure this is an EA game? *zing* :P

I skimmed through the link...and I'm amazed. I hope they fix the ragdoll though, it was pretty bad in the first game.

It was pretty bad ass except when you knocked someone into the ropes and they got stuck and started having seizures.
